Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 740: Chapter 290: Drug Development, Firebird

”Mr. Liang, please take a look.”

Yang Shenmin nodded at Tang Ying, who was standing beside him.

Tang Ying immediately reached out and lightly grazed the belly of the Fire Bamboo Rat.

The high-frequency resonating nails easily sliced open the belly of the Fire Bamboo Rat, and blood immediately flowed out.

However, the Fire Bamboo Rat remained motionless, staring blankly at the ceiling.

Liang Yuan was astonished and asked, ”Why isn’t it struggling?”

Tang Ying smiled and said, ”Mr. Liang, I gave it some anesthetic potion.”

”Anesthetic potion?” Liang Yuan was surprised and asked.

Tang Ying said, ”Do you remember those huge snail monsters we brought back from Turtle Island back then?”

Liang Yuan suddenly realized and asked, ”You extracted the anesthetic toxin they secreted?”

”Yes, because the experimental process requires the subjects to remain quiet, so the anesthetic potion was one of the first agents we used.”

”Currently, we not only extract the anesthetic potion from the snail monster’s slime but also found the same anesthetic toxin inside the razor clams we collected from the Sea Tide.”

”Additionally, we also obtained this toxin from the dried secretions of toads.”

”As long as the dosage is appropriate, it can be made into an anesthetic potion.”

Liang Yuan realized that traditional Chinese medicine truly is a great field of medical science; even in such a crude environment, they are still able to find treatments for various ailments.

Yang Shenmin, holding the green Muscle Regeneration Potion, began feeding it to the Fire Bamboo Rat while saying, ”The Muscle Regeneration Potion project has currently completed the first step. This is our first-stage research result, an internal medicine potion.”

As the potion was fed, a faint green glow appeared at the wound on the Fire Bamboo Rat’s belly. The wound, which was bleeding just a moment ago, surprisingly stopped bleeding at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Although the wound did not heal immediately, it was clearly scabbing over.

Liang Yuan immediately released his Spiritual Power, closely observing the deeper layers of the wound.

Under his Spiritual Power observation, he clearly ’saw’ countless green energies swirling around the wound on the Fire Bamboo Rat’s belly, quickly repairing the cross-section of the injury.

Although this process wasn’t very fast, it far exceeded the human body’s self-healing capabilities.

In just a few seconds, the belly wound of the Fire Bamboo Rat had fully scabbed over and stopped bleeding.

Liang Yuan couldn’t help but smile and said, ”The Muscle Regeneration Potion is amazing. This recovery speed is comparable to Song Wen treating others.”

Yang Shenmin smiled and said, ”Compared to Wang An’s Healing Superpower, it’s still quite inferior.”

”However, we currently have a second-stage research direction that should make progress soon.”

Liang Yuan asked, ”What direction?”

Yang Shenmin said, ”For the second stage of the Muscle Regeneration Potion, I plan to develop a topical treatment. Using both internal and external methods should quickly heal wounds and promote injury healing.”

”The biggest enemies the patrol team will face in the future, besides mutant beasts, are their own kind.”

”And in the midst of battle, the most common injuries are these kinds of flesh wounds.”

Liang Yuan nodded slightly, smiling, ”Indeed, that’s the most necessary potion. It can greatly increase the survival rate of patrol team members out in the field.”

”Are there any other potions?”

Yang Shenmin smiled, ”Other potion projects have also been initiated and are in preparation. Currently, we also have a quick-freezing potion to quickly handle situations like uncontrollable bleeding.”

”Although we have a concept, we lack the main ingredient and still need to find it.”

”What is the main ingredient?” Liang Yuan asked.

Yang Shenmin replied, ”The treatment principle of the quick-freezing potion was inspired by Zhao Kai’s Superpower. I want to use freezing to quickly handle situations like uncontrollable arterial bleeding.”

”Freeze the wound, temporarily stopping major bleeding, then apply the Muscle Regeneration Potion. With this combination, even more severe injuries might be quickly treated with the potion.”

”But so far, I haven’t found any ice-type mutant plants, so the progress has been stalled.”

Liang Yuan realized and thought for a moment before saying, ”This potion isn’t urgent. The cold wave is coming soon, and the mutant plants in Yangshan are about to experience a cold wave. Most plants may not withstand it, but I believe some will evolve to resist the cold wave.”

”You may find the main ingredient you need then.”

Yang Shenmin’s eyes lit up upon hearing this, clapping his hands, ”You’re right. When the cold wave arrives, there must be organisms in nature that can adapt to these environmental changes and evolve corresponding abilities. We might find ice-type plants.”

Liang Yuan also smiled, looking at some of the plants Yang Shenmin was researching.

Many plants, once identified as non-toxic and if they taste good, would be prioritized for cultivation in the botanical garden as vegetable crops.

Now, identifying whether mutant plants are edible is just an add-on. His main focus has shifted entirely to pharmaceutical research.

With Tang Ying as his capable assistant, not only was Tang Ying’s medical knowledge on par with Yang Shenmin, but during their long-term work together, they had also developed feelings for each other, somewhat like a harmonious couple.

Smiling, Liang Yuan said a few encouraging words to them before leaving the laboratory.

Feeling the moisture in the lab, he thought: ”I’ll ask Song Wen to transplant some mutated sunflowers over. This damp environment isn’t good for research experiments.”

There are only a hundred mutated sunflowers in total, which is still a bit too few.

Hopefully, Song Wen and Granny Li can cultivate the next generation of varieties soon.
