Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 734: Chapter 289 The Shock Brought by Yangshan Shelter

Liang Yuan’s spirit was immediately lifted, and he quickly inquired, ”Has the Sunshine District been successfully built?”

He had only been gone for less than two days, and both Song Wen and Granny Li had already completed the construction of the Sunshine District. This truly surprised him.

Song Wen said, ”Yes, we followed your instructions and planted half the sunflowers inside the cave and the other half outside, under the structures we set up.”

”Now, the cave is constantly illuminated by sunlight, day or night, and the temperature is high enough. We are planning to create drying areas and greenhouse zones.”

”As for the floor heating plan you mentioned, we are preparing that too, but we lack solar water heaters.”

Upon hearing this, Liang Yuan couldn’t help but smile joyfully and immediately said, ”Let’s go take a look right away.”

”Huh? Right now? I can’t get up.” Song Wen’s face turned red; she had exerted herself too much earlier, making it difficult for her to move.

Liang Yuan laughed, ”Don’t you have a superpower?”

Song Wen immediately giggled, ”Just give me a moment to recover.”

The two of them cuddled together and whispered some tender words. Before long, Song Wen had recovered.

They dressed and, with Song Wen leading the way, walked through the bamboo forest toward the mountain hollow.

Sure enough, a large area of structures had been built on the side of the mountain hollow, and the sunflowers swayed gracefully under the shelters, basking in the gentle sunlight.

Many elderly people and children were sunbathing under the shelters in the Sunshine District.

Around the shelters, except for the side near the cave, other sides had extended and built vacant areas.

In these areas, bamboo poles were stuck into the ground, and many people had hung their damp clothes and quilts to dry, illuminated by the sunflowers.

Seeing this scene, Liang Yuan couldn’t help but laugh, ”This drying area is great. What people lack most now is sunlight. Many clothes and quilts at home are soaked and even moldy, so they can only be dried by the fire.”

”Now with this drying area, everyone can wear dry clothes.”

Song Wen said with a smile, ”This is just for now because we don’t have enough sunflowers yet. Once we have enough sunflowers, we can start selling them.”

”We’ll strive to let every household build their own sunroom in the future. That way, everyone’s living environment will improve too.”

”Even if a cold wave comes, they won’t have to worry about freezing.”

Liang Yuan continuously nodded, feeling that it was truly the right decision to obtain the mutated sunflowers this time.

With these mutated sunflowers, many issues could indeed be resolved.

They walked into the sunflower shelters and headed toward the cave.

Large patches of sunflowers were also planted inside the cave, and the soft light illuminated the entire cave as bright as day.

At the same time, the temperature inside the cave was several degrees higher than outside, making it feel much warmer and drier.

Liang Yuan saw Granny Li and some others weeding and fertilizing nearby, while some elders had set up a small shelter in a corner of the cave to bask in the sunlight.

Seeing this scene, Liang Yuan smiled genuinely.

The elderly are usually afraid of cold and damp environments, which can easily lead to diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

Now, with this sunroom, it has become a beloved gathering place for many elderly people.

Seeing Liang Yuan, Granny Li quickly stopped what she was doing and walked over.

Her face was full of smiles. Her once sallow complexion had improved significantly after acquiring a superpower and curing her diabetes. She looked much healthier and more vibrant now.

”Liang Yuan, you’ve returned? How’s the situation at Meishan?”

Granny Li started asking about Meishan as soon as she spoke, always focused on work.

Liang Yuan laughed, ”I was just about to find you. The situation at Meishan is much better than ours.”

”Oh? What’s the situation?” Granny Li eagerly asked.

Liang Yuan replied, ”Over at Meishan, not only have many crops mutated, but they are also thriving.”

”What kinds of crops?” Granny Li’s eyes lit up as she urgently asked.

Liang Yuan replied, ”I did a quick survey; there are sweet potatoes, soybeans, corn, rice, and so on. If we can grow them on a large scale, it should resolve the shelter’s food crisis.”

”That’s great! Never mind the others, but sweet potatoes and soybeans, corn—they are all high-quality carbs, especially sweet potatoes and soybeans, which have high yields.”

”Liang Yuan, did you bring some seeds back?” Granny Li quickly asked.

Liang Yuan laughed, ”Of course, I brought some.”

He directly took out the crops he had gathered from Yunquan Temple.

Not only sweet potatoes and soybeans, but also corn, rice, wheat, and so on.

Although the quantities were not large, there were several pounds of each—definitely enough for seeds.

Granny Li’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the seeds, her face full of smiles.

”This is wonderful, wonderful. These are treasures, Liang Yuan. If our shelter can grow these on a large scale, we won’t have to worry about food shortages.”

Looking at these seeds, Granny Li’s eyes almost filled with tears.

It’s the older generation who knows the value of food.

They’ve saved food all their lives, while many young people don’t care.

But now, under the great flood, everyone knows how terrifying hunger is.

Back then, in the building, some people deserted their families for food, even forcing their wives and daughters to sell themselves for it.

So Granny Li was extremely excited.

Liang Yuan softly said, ”Granny Li, no need to get so emotional. We certainly won’t lack food in the future.”

”I went to Meishan this time, and the resources there are much better than Yangshan’s. Many fields are ready and have been cultivated by the original villagers of Meishan.”
