From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

The money of Wang San, Xia Guagua spent it without hesitation!

But her own over a thousand taels of silver was almost squandered as well, only six hundred taels left at most. If she took out another five hundred taels, she feared she would have nothing left to her name!

”Owner, I know you’re hesitating. Let me tell you, the annual profit of Chengfeng Restaurant is five hundred taels. If you buy the recipe and let me learn it, I’ll cook for you for a year.

By then, we’ll definitely earn more than five hundred taels since our place is bigger than theirs!”

Upon hearing that Chengfeng Restaurant’s profit was five hundred taels, Xia Guagua’s reaction was similar to Mu Tou’s initial response.

”The profit on the other side is that high, five hundred taels a year?” Xia Guagua asked.

”Yes! I was shocked too, but this can’t be fake. That Wei Dacong across the street sees me as a brother now. He demonstrated Snail’s method right in front of me without charging a penny!”

After hearing this, Xia Guagua no longer had doubts!

Five hundred taels, just five hundred. Within a year, it can be earned back!

The most important thing is that she can defeat that little bitch Mu Shuangshuang!

”Tomorrow, arrange a meeting with that Wei Dacong, we’ll exchange money for goods in one go!” Xia Guagua said.

”Okay! I’ll head back first to avoid suspicion!” Mu Tou said.

”Go ahead!” Xia Guagua waved her hand.

After Mu Tou left, Xia Guagua took out the silver notes she had hidden.

This was her last possession, and if she used up the money, she would have to tighten her belt!

...

On the following day, all the staff of Chengfeng Restaurant started working, and by the end of the morning, the restaurant was full of business.

It wasn’t until over an hour past noon that they saw off the last customer.

But Mu Tou, washing chamber pots in the back courtyard, was unaware of how many customers were in the front yard.

Once everyone had begun resting, he went to the kitchen to find Wei Dacong.

Wei Dacong was also tired from the morning, but when Mu Tou entered the kitchen, he was still very enthusiastic.

”Mu Tou, are you hungry? I left some food for you, there’s chicken, duck, and fish, you won’t go hungry!” Wei Dacong said.

”I’m not eating. Didn’t we agree to sell the recipe? I’ve already found someone, let’s go now!” Mu Tou said.

Wei Dacong looked troubled, ”Mu Tou, I thought about it all night yesterday, and I think we shouldn’t do this, I feel guilty!”

”My dear brother, how could you back out now? Look at what you’re doing!

Don’t you want to be the shopkeeper? Don’t you want your son to gain fame and fortune, and not just be a cook for life?”

Wei Dacong shook his head repeatedly, ”Of course, I don’t want that! I... I... Mu Tou, how about we ask for six hundred taels? I’ll take five hundred to open the restaurant, and you’ll get the extra hundred, how about it?”

”Well...” Deep down, Mu Tou was more than willing.

A hundred taels of silver were no small amount.

Although he might become the head chef across the street later, he wouldn’t want to work for someone else his whole life!

It’s better to take this hundred taels now, get something more across the street, and eventually open his own restaurant?

”Thank you, brother. I’ll go and ask that person if they’re willing to pay six hundred taels!”

Saying that, Mu Tou dashed out of the back courtyard.

Xia Guagua, wearing a veil, was in a refreshment stall at the end of the street where Chengfeng Restaurant was located.

No one knew she was there except Mu Tou.

Seeing Mu Tou, Xia Guagua was naturally excited, but before she could ask, Mu Tou said, ”Owner, I’m sorry, I didn’t do well. That Wei Dacong is asking for another hundred taels of silver!

He’s afraid that if the matter is exposed, he won’t even have a place to stay, so...”

”Crazy, crazy! Six hundred taels, that could open a restaurant!” Xia Guagua said.

”Owner, we’re at this point, if you can’t bear losing your child, you can’t catch the wolf. Think about their business over there, think about that dead girl flaunting herself, and think about our future...”

At this moment, Mu Tou painted a vivid picture of the future, also stoking hatred for Mu Shuangshuang!

Xia Guagua couldn’t hold back anymore. She thought, six hundred taels are just six hundred taels, they’ll come back eventually!

”Fine, call that person out!” Xia Guagua said.

Upon hearing this, Mu Tou ran back to Chengfeng Restaurant.

Within the time it takes to drink two cups of tea, he brought Wei Dacong back.

Wei Dacong looked hesitant and didn’t dare look at Xia Guagua.

This made Xia Guagua even more convinced that Wei Dacong was telling the truth and that Mu Tou had done his part.

She took out six silver notes, each precisely accounted for.

She said, ”Give me the recipe!”

Wei Dacong had never met Xia Guagua, and Xia Guagua was not worried about being recognized.

Of course, wearing the veil was even safer.

The recipe and the silver note almost changed hands simultaneously, Xia Guagua, having received the recipe, was beaming with joy.

She signaled Mu Tou with a glance to get the person out of there—she wanted to go back and study the recipe.

Mu Tou hurriedly pulled Wei Dacong and ran; he certainly wasn’t returning to the restaurant.

As soon as they neared an inn, Wei Dacong clutched his stomach in pain, ”Oh, my stomach... my stomach hurts a lot!”

”Oh no, not now, brother, you... no, we have to get out of town quickly, we can’t let the owner find out!”

What Mu Tou was actually more worried about was the hundred-tael silver note Wei Dacong promised him.

”I really can’t hold it, Mu Tou, you hold onto the silver notes first, I’ll go into this inn to relieve myself, wait for me for a bit...”

Wei Dacong handed the money bag containing the silver notes to Mu Tou.

Seeing this, Mu Tou didn’t care if Wei Dacong needed to relieve himself.

As soon as Wei Dacong entered the inn, Mu Tou took off running.

Six hundred taels of silver secured, and the recipe in hand, what was there to fear?

Thinking about this, Mu Tou nearly burst out laughing.

Seeing Mu Tou run, Wei Dacong clutched his rear and chased after him.

Chasing for a long time, he couldn’t catch up, and eventually started crying in the middle of the street,

calling out loudly.

This scene was entirely witnessed by Ma Jun’s men.

He ordered his people to follow Mu Tou and prepare to snatch the silver notes back.

As for Wei Dacong, who would bother with him? The silver notes were gone, the recipe was lost, he was an idiot!!!!

Wei Dacong returned to Chengfeng Restaurant looking utterly dejected, as if in mourning!

When he entered Chengfeng Restaurant and got to the back courtyard, he saw the person who had been waiting for him for who knows how long.

He suddenly smiled.

And from his pocket, he pulled out six silver notes, smiling at that person, ”Owner, the silver notes are back, the recipe is safe too!”

Mu Shuangshuang clapped her hands, took the silver notes with a grin.

”Uncle Wei, this time, you’ve done a great job, I will remember your contribution.

Tonight, whatever you and your family want to eat, you can have, my treat!”

Wei Dacong smiled and shook his head, ”Better not, to complete the act, I’ll stay dejected for a few more days!”
