From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

”How about I just give you a few days off?” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”There’s no need for that. If I take time off, what will happen to the business at the restaurant? We can’t just stop operations, the loss would be huge!” Wei Dacong replied.

This time, Mu Shuangshuang and Wei Dacong devised a flawless plan, tricking Xia Guagua out of six hundred silver notes.

It must be quite a significant loss for Xia Guagua.

Most importantly, the responsibility won’t fall on Chengfeng Restaurant!

If Xia Guagua wanted to blame someone, it would be Mu Tou at fault, not Chengfeng Restaurant, certainly not Wei Dacong!

”Why don’t we just give everyone three days off? During those days, they can stay home with their elders and kids.

After three days, dress a bit shabbily, come into the restaurant, and we’ll have Steward Yu join us in a play, making it justifiable to keep Uncle Wei!”

Mu Shuangshuang had long wanted to deal with Xia Guagua.

She had been oppressed by Xia Guagua before and felt aggrieved.

This time, she got back her principal and interest!

Six hundred silver notes—Chengfeng Restaurant couldn’t earn that much profit in even two years!

If there’s blame, it’s on Xia Guagua for being too greedy and underestimating her!

”This...” Wei Dacong hesitated.

”It’s fine, it’s settled then. You should hurry back! Oh, and here’s a little reward for this time.”

Mu Shuangshuang took out five silver pieces prepared earlier and handed them to Wei Dacong.

”No, no, this is what I should do, owner, I can’t take the money! Your recipe book is more valuable to me than any silver!”

Wei Dacong insisted on not accepting, no matter what Mu Shuangshuang said, he was unwilling!

In the end, Mu Shuangshuang had no choice but to remember the five silver pieces in her heart for now.

She planned to give Wei Dacong the reward separately next festival.

Wei Dacong soon returned!

She called Yu Dahai and mentioned the three-day leave, Yu Dahai nodded immediately, saying he would inform everyone right away.

Yu Dahai had always known Mu Shuangshuang was fishing for a big catch, but he didn’t know the specific plan!

Now, the plan seemed successful, so Yu Dahai straightforwardly asked what he had in mind!

”Owner, what was your plan? What did Uncle Wei do?” Yu Dahai asked.

With the matter settled, Mu Shuangshuang didn’t hide anything anymore!

”Actually, the day Mu Tou was going to return, I had already told Uncle Wei to stall Mu Tou and keep an eye on him as much as possible!”

”In the entire restaurant, apart from me, Uncle Wei had a bad attitude towards Mu Tou. Given Uncle Wei’s position as head chef and his recipe book, those are definitely things Mu Tou coveted!

Mu Tou is clever, so he would definitely try to win Uncle Wei over. The less trust Uncle Wei had in him, the more Mu Tou would believe in himself after winning Uncle Wei over!

Whatever Uncle Wei said, Mu Tou would believe, and that’s how Xia Guagua got duped!” said Mu Shuangshuang.

After she spoke, Yu Dahai nodded.

”But I still feel that this alone couldn’t make Mu Tou completely trust Uncle Wei. Mu Tou isn’t easy to fool!”

”That’s true!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”Actually, Mu Tou trusted Uncle Wei because Uncle Wei demonstrated fried snails in front of him, even though he did it wrongly...”

That day, in the kitchen, while Wei Dacong did lead Mu Tou there, all the steps he showed were incorrect!

The heat was wrong, and the method of handling snails was wrong, even the snails used in cooking hadn’t been properly soaked for three days!

That’s why when Mu Tou wanted to taste it, Wei Dacong would sharply knock his hand with chopsticks!

Because that dish was inedible!

Wei Dacong had already prepared the authentic snails, just waiting to swap two snails onto the plate when Mu Tou served the dishes, nonchalantly bringing them out!

This step was a stroke of genius, enough to make Mu Tou let down all his guards!

”Haha, that’s exactly the case! Shuangshuang, you’re really clever. When Mu Tou first came, I worried for a while!” said Yu Dahai.

”It’s not that I’m clever, it’s that Gua Gua’s too foolish! She thought playing the victim would deceive me, not realizing that here, betrayal is a one-time thing, never to be repeated!”

People have many choices. When Mu Tou faced temptation, he chose to abandon Chengfeng Restaurant.

So from now on, Chengfeng Restaurant won’t welcome him!

”Yes, we all understand this principle, yet Mu Tou was foolish enough! Human greed knows no bounds!

I think I need to talk to the restaurant staff about this, to prevent anyone from having such thoughts in the future!” said Yu Dahai.

After he spoke, he seemed to remember something else and asked, ”Shuangshuang, with Mu Tou gone, does that mean Erzhu is...”

”I’ve introduced Erzhu to another job!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”Erzhu’s temper hasn’t matured yet. I originally wanted to keep him at the restaurant, but I was afraid he’d cause trouble, and I know a shopkeeper at a fabric store. I had Erzhu go there to work as a laborer!

The pay isn’t as good as at Chengfeng Restaurant, but the work isn’t much, so he could also do side jobs to earn extra money!”

The old man from Rong Jin House had promised to investigate Xia Guagua’s identity for Mu Shuangshuang but never found out.

Mu Shuangshuang didn’t rely on the old man anymore, and when she saw the hiring sign there, she made use of the opportunity to introduce Erzhu over!

”That’s also good, that kid is too straightforward and doesn’t consider others’ feelings! This experience could be a lesson for him!”

Erzhu was also one of the veterans at the restaurant. Yu Dahai was, of course, reluctant to part with him!

But compared to having an unstable element around, it’s better to choose a few steady-natured ones.

Chengfeng Restaurant should keep going further and better!

”Owner, I’ll go inform the subordinates of the tasks now!” Yu Dahai said.

Mu Shuangshuang waved her hand, and as Yu Dahai left, she too stood up!

...

In a secluded alley, Mu Tou was cornered, trapped between threats front and back.

And those fierce people acted as if they knew him well the moment they saw him.

”Hey kid, hand over all the money you have! Six hundred silver notes—not a single tael less!” the leader said.

”What six hundred taels? You must be mistaken!” Mu Tou refused to admit, still holding on.

But the men hired by Ma Jun weren’t going to be polite to him!

Two strong men sandwich Mu Tou, one grabbing his hands, the other his feet, and in the blink of an eye, they restrained Mu Tou.

Mu Tou couldn’t move, and the leader started to frisk him.

Finally, he found the pouch containing the silver notes.

”What’s this? You scoundrel, daring to deceive even me!” the leader roared, delivering a heavy kick to Mu Tou’s stomach.

Mu Tou screamed in pain.
