Ancient Dragon Elephant Technique

Chapter 240: Chapter 1: Introduction to Refining

Lin Feng and his companions rested in Moonfall City for three days before the city had arranged for a griffin beast to take them back to Azure Dragon Academy, their mission now complete.

Lin Feng lay in the griffin beast’s soft fur, letting the wind blow on his face, basking in the sun, warm and comfortable.

Huang Ling’er sat next to Lin Feng, nudging him with her foot.

Lin Feng opened his eyes and looked at Huang Ling’er, smiling as he asked, “Ling’er, is there something you need?”

Huang Ling’er gazed at Lin Feng with a somewhat resentful expression, making Lin Feng’s heart flutter with unease; anyone who didn’t know better might think he had committed some heinous deed against Huang Ling’er before callously abandoning her.

Huang Ling’er asked in a wistful voice, “Why did you leave halfway through the celebration banquet? Where did you go?”

Huang Ling’er kept her eyes fixed on Lin Feng’s as she spoke.

She believed that the eyes were windows to the soul.

Lin Feng’s gaze flickered slightly; naturally, he couldn’t tell Huang Ling’er that he was messing around with her sister behind the rockery.

Lin Feng replied, “I had too much to drink that day, so I went back early to rest.”

“Is that so?” Huang Ling’er asked.

“Of course,” Lin Feng nodded, and then closed his eyes again.

Meanwhile, Huang Ling’er bit her pale lips, looking at Lin Feng with a complex expression.

Ten days later, Lin Feng and his party returned to Azure Dragon Academy, where they received generous praise from the high echelons of the academy. Many of the students who had returned earlier were filled with regret, not expecting that the battle with the Beastman Empire would lead True Martial Country to such a resounding victory. Had they not returned, they too might have had the chance to join the Ancient Forces.

Those filled with regret had no idea of the numerous life-and-death battles Lin Feng and his companions had been through!

After returning to Azure Dragon Academy, life became much more peaceful. The Fire Kirin snuck back at night, and seeing it had gained weight, Lin Feng said, “It looks like you’ve been wreaking havoc in the academy’s kitchen.”

The Fire Kirin curled its lip and said, “The Azure Dragon Academy’s kitchen just offers a few barely palatable items. I’ve set my sights on the entire Imperial City, heh, and after I’ve tried everything there, I’ll take a stroll through the palace!”

Lin Feng almost toppled over upon hearing this; the Fire Kirin truly was a calamity.

Wreaking havoc in Azure Dragon Academy wasn’t enough, it even planned to cause trouble in the Imperial City, and even considered the palace fair game!

Lin Feng felt that if one day the Fire Kirin were indeed to be put down by someone, it would surely be remembered as a delicious delicacy.

In the days that followed, Lin Feng began to learn the art of refining elixirs from the Fire Kirin.

“You’ll need to buy a medicine tripod first, though you won’t find anything good here in the Imperial City,” the Fire Kirin scoffed.

Lin Feng spent a fortune on a medicine tripod forged from Deep Sea Xuan Crystal Iron.

The Fire Kirin, however, scoffed at it and said, “Compared to the Simu Star Wu Cauldron I used in the past, this is nowhere close. That cauldron of mine was one of the one hundred and eight treasure tripods.”

“Oh? One hundred and eight treasure tripods?” Lin Feng looked at the Fire Kirin in astonishment.

Fire Kirin said, “These one hundred and eight cauldrons are exceptionally valuable, not only for their superior forging techniques but also for the materials they’re made from. Those materials are the same ones used to forge Holy Emperor Artifacts.”

“Ss!” Lin Feng gasped.

Mythical records state that in the Ancient Era, Holy Emperors sought to forge Holy Emperor Artifacts, searched the entire Three Realms, but could not find the divine materials!

This meant that even mighty beings of the Holy Emperor Level struggled to locate materials suitable for creating Holy Emperor Artifacts, for such materials were too rare.

And the materials used to craft these one hundred and eight cauldrons were exactly the ones that even Holy Emperors could not find.

Imagine, then, just how precious these one hundred and eight cauldrons must be?

Lin Feng said, “Materials fit for Holy Emperor Artifacts used for cauldrons? Isn’t that a waste?”

Fire Kirin rolled its eyes and retorted, “Of course not! You must understand that the status of alchemists is extremely high. It took billions of years to create these one hundred and eight cauldrons, and that’s not excessive at all!”

Lin Feng asked, “Then what’s so special about these cauldrons?”

“There are things that can be understood but not communicated in words. If you ever have the chance to obtain such a cauldron, you will know how terrifyingly powerful these cauldrons really are!”

Fire Kirin deliberately kept Lin Feng in suspense, making him itch with curiosity.

Nevertheless, Lin Feng did not ask Fire Kirin any further.

After all, he knew the nature of Fire Kirin well enough to realize that no matter what he asked, this creature would definitely not divulge the answers.

Lin Feng took out the Medicine Tripod and placed it on the table. Fire Kirin said, “Today we’re going to learn about extraction, the first step in refining Spiritual Medicine. There are hundreds, thousands of extraction methods. The purer the extracted Spiritual Liquid, the better the effect of the refined elixir and the higher its success rate.”

“Some people have mastered advanced extraction methods and can refine an elixir with effects ten or even dozens of times stronger than others. This highlights the importance of extraction. The most critical point is, the more sophisticated the extraction method, the fewer the impurities in the extracted Spiritual Liquid. It’s important to know that these elixirs, when consumed, carry impurities. If too many impurities accumulate within the body, they will obstruct cultivation. The fewer the impurities, the better.”

“The extraction method I am going to teach you was created by the Ancient Medicine God and consists of three thousand different techniques. The procedures are incredibly complex, but the extracted Spiritual Liquid contains virtually no impurities. Why was the Medicine God so revered, you ask? Countless powerful beings were willing to serve the Medicine God just for one medicine because his elixirs were incredibly effective, unlike those made by other alchemists. Once you learn the fundamental three thousand methods created by the Medicine God, your foundation will be solid.”

Lin Feng was astounded! Three thousand extraction methods! That was immense!

Lin Feng knew that apprentices in the Azure Dragon Academy only learned four or five extraction methods at most, and even that was considered the limit.

Fire Kirin said, “These three thousand methods cover almost every extractable substance. Even with a rock, if it contains Spiritual Energy, you will be able to extract it.”

Lin Feng nodded. The Medicine God was indeed worthy of his title—the most grandiose alchemist since the beginning of creation, a figure of legend!

Methods passed down by such a person must surely be the best of the best, coveted by countless others. Lin Feng actually had quite a bit of gratitude for Fire Kirin. Despite not always being reliable, it had always been guiding him along the correct path on his journey of cultivation.

If it were someone else, having Lin Feng’s abilities at the age of sixteen might have led to arrogance. But Fire Kirin had endlessly muttered about how at eight years old, the son of an Ancient Saint from an Ancient Sacred Land was already communicating with Divine Spirits and had reached the Yin Yang Realm, how the Young Master of the Alchemist Guild was a Dark Stage Alchemist at fifteen…

With Fire Kirin always there to humble Lin Feng, how could he dare to be arrogant? He felt nothing but a sense of urgency.

Lin Feng realized that Fire Kirin’s words were all too true. Within the younger generation of True Martial Country, he may be outstanding, but True Martial Country was just a tiny spot within the vastness of the Three Thousand States.

The world beyond was enormous, and it was filled with countless geniuses. If one became complacent, it would be nothing more than sitting in a well and looking at the sky. Hence, Lin Feng was incredibly diligent, never daring to slack, for the moment he did, he would be left even further behind by the Favored Sons of Heaven from top-level forces.
