The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Although nominally the head chef, in the kitchen here, whenever Zhao Meng isn’t around, Fu Yu is the one who arranges everything.

The people below have tacitly acknowledged that Fu Yu is the second in command here, and when Zhao Meng isn’t around, Fu Yu calls the shots.

He doesn’t have much authority, but Fu Yu no longer handles the preparation and marination of side dishes.

He doesn’t have to go to the storage room at fixed times every day, and he doesn’t need to check the inventory of ingredients in the warehouse.

His schedule is relatively free, and most of the time, he’s only busy during lunch and dinner rush hours.

In the mornings and afternoons, when there aren’t many customers, he mostly gives instructions, delegates work to others, assigns tasks, and checks the completion of preparations afterward.

However, during the rush hours, if Zhao Meng has any immediate matters and can’t cook, Fu Yu takes over all the big orders and dishes with higher difficulty.

But with Sun Qingning assisting, apart from being a bit busy, he manages to handle it all.

Zhao Meng returned from the front hall and reclaimed his menu orders.

Fu Yu casually left three banquet order forms: ”I’ve already started on these three, so just leave them here.”

Zhao Meng was quite relieved.

Fu Yu has always been like this, seizing the tough and tiring tasks. How could a leader not like such a subordinate?

People say he’s biased, but who wouldn’t be with such an understanding, obedient, talented, and ambitious subordinate?

Taking a closer look at the dishes yet to be cooked, Zhao Meng tore off a few and handed them to Sun Qingning.

”Stir-frying these few dishes is tiring, you do it.”

Sun Qingning instinctively reached out to take them, then suddenly had a second thought, wait a minute!

”Chef Zhao, I protest, I have complaints, stir-frying is exhausting for me too, you can’t treat me like this...”

Zhao Meng responded with an ”Oh, I know, and then?”

Sun Qingning: ”...”

For a moment, he was at a loss for words.

That’s right...

And then?

It seems he couldn’t find a reason!

Sun Qingning couldn’t help but sigh, well...

Seeing Sun Qingning’s lazy demeanor, Zhao Meng became annoyed and couldn’t help but reprimand him, ”If you want to improve your cooking skills, can you make it without practice and hands-on experience? Always avoiding the hard work, look at Fu Yu, he never complains, he never says he’s tired. Everyone works a whole day’s shift, yet he’s always cheerful!”

Sun Qingning couldn’t help but turn to Fu Yu.

Even though Fu Yu had taken on three extra order forms, he showed no signs of fatigue. Instead, after cooking each dish, there’s this subtle smile of excitement on his face.

It’s as if cooking is an incredibly joyous thing.

Truly, without comparison, there’s no harm.

Sun Qingning felt that his own sense of purpose was really lacking.

And ever since Zhao Meng promoted him to a stove position, perhaps thinking he was closer to getting full-time, he unknowingly became a bit arrogant.

This mindset won’t do.

Working in the kitchen is inherently tiring; isn’t everyone enduring it step by step?

Sun Qingning turned and silently watched Fu Yu.

He must learn from Fu Yu, see how much he works, yet stays cheerful, what a mindset!

That’s truly impressive!

No wonder Zhao Meng has always favored Fu Yu; capable and sharp, who wouldn’t like him?

Even though Fu Yu already had a lot of order forms, he still thought about helping Zhao Meng out. This isn’t simply flattering but genuinely considering Zhao Meng as family, hence having this caring heart!

Thinking about this, Sun Qingning felt a surge of admiration.

”Chef Fu!” Sun Qingning couldn’t help but call out to Fu Yu.

Fu Yu turned around: ”What?”

Sun Qingning: ”I’ve decided to start working hard and turn over a new leaf!”

Fu Yu looked puzzled: ”What nonsense.”

Sun Qingning chuckled, ”Chef Zhao said I should learn from you, not complain, not feel tired, work diligently, and hone my cooking skills!”

Fu Yu nodded: ”Hmm, if you listen to Chef Zhao, you can’t go wrong.”

Zhao Meng initially had a serious expression, but hearing Sun Qingning’s nonsensical words, he couldn’t help but laugh, ”With all the time spent on nonsense, you’d have finished the work!”

Seeing Zhao Meng’s expression relax, Sun Qingning breathed a sigh of relief and turned with an envious look at Fu Yu: ”Chef Fu, I’ve realized you’re truly remarkable, working so hard every day, yet maintaining such a positive mindset.”

Mindset, huh?

Fu Yu gave an easy smile, finishing the final plating touches on the dish while listening to the electronic notification in his ear:

[Ding! Assisted NPC Chef Zhao Meng in completing the backlog of order forms, task completion reward: RMB +50, task experience +20]

Why can he maintain such a positive and forward-looking attitude to work?

Because he has a special caring system.

While working, he can not only help Zhao Meng reduce his burden but also earn additional rewards. Though the money isn’t much and the rewards aren’t particularly generous, this feeling is genuinely awesome!

It gives one exceptional motivation to work.

Actually, if everyone in life had such a system, perhaps everyone, despite working hard and being tired, would indeed strive, right?

...

Several of Zhao Meng’s old customers’ order forms have dishes that Fu Yu has cooked. He is very familiar with Zhao Meng’s habit of seasoning and cutting the ingredients, able to closely mimic them.

This is also a good thing for Zhao Meng.
