Lackey's Seducing Survival Odyssey

Chapter 317: Selene helping Aether to get a girl?!!

”What are you doing?” Asharaʼs voice broke the silence, laced with curiosity.

She leaned in slightly, watching Victor, who was intently focused on the surgical microscope-like tool laid out before him in the classroom.

It wasnʼt just Ashara; the entire class was watching him with bated breath, each of them equally curious but they didnʼt want to make contact with him.

Victor didnʼt respond immediately. He merely glanced at Ashara, his gaze fleeting and dismissive, before returning his full attention to the tool. Stay tuned with mvl

Asharaʼs lips curved into a slight pout. She didnʼt press him further, instead choosing to study him as he meticulously analyzed the intricate device, his expression unreadable but his concentration absolute.

ʼTsk, This structure... itʼs so complex,ʼ Victor mused silently, his mind racing as he examined the toolʼs delicate components, ʼThereʼs no way I could replicate this... my skills arenʼt anywhere near the level needed for something like this...ʼ His thoughts were a mixture of frustration and admiration, his eyes narrowing as he attempted to decode the technology before him.

As his gaze wandered, he noticed a name engraved on the side of the tool.

ʼKennedy...ʼ he thought, a bitter taste filling his mouth, ʼEven though that man was a pervert and utterly repulsive, thereʼs no denying his talent. Itʼs a shame that someone like him was capable of creating something so brilliantʼ Victorʼs thoughts lingered on the creator, a strange mix of respect and disdain churning within him.

Meanwhile,

”Letʼs eat together later...” Selene suggested casually, her tone warm and inviting. Aria, sitting beside her, responded with a bright smile, nodding in agreement.

”Sure, I donʼt mind eating with you,” Aria replied, her voice carrying a light-hearted tone.

They indeed became good friends!!

Seleneʼs gaze then shifted to Lia, who had been silently observing the interaction with a furrowed brow. Something was clearly troubling her, and Selene could sense it.

”Lia? Whatʼs going on?” Selene asked, her voice tinged with concern.

”H-Huh? Nothing...” Lia stammered, snapping out of her deep thoughts.

Seleneʼs concern deepened, her frown reflecting the worry she felt for her friend, ”Is something bothering you, Lia? You look like you have something on your mind but canʼt bring yourself to say it. Why is that?” she pressed gently, hoping to coax the truth out of her.

Lia hesitated, before asking, ”Selene, can I ask you something?”

”Of course,” Selene replied, her voice softening further. ”Whatʼs on your mind?”

”Why havenʼt you been preparing notes for Aether like you used to?” Liaʼs question was direct.

She couldnʼt shake the feeling that something was off. It had been weeks since Selene had last copied notes for Aether, a task she had once diligently carried out. Now, Lia was the only one doing it, and she couldnʼt help but wonder why.

ʼDid she give up? Tired of not getting any love back even though she worked hard? Is that why sheʼs harassing him?ʼ Liaʼs mind raced through various thoughts.

ʼBecause heʼs here!ʼ she wanted to shout, but she bit her tongue, forcing herself to maintain her composure. Instead, she offered a half-hearted explanation,

”Well, he said heʼd manage on his own... so I figured Iʼd give him some space,” Selene said, her voice lacking its usual conviction.

Lia wasnʼt convinced. Her frown deepened as she studied Seleneʼs face, trying to decipher the emotions hidden behind her friendʼs words. ”But... thatʼs not like you,” Lia finally said, her voice soft but insistent. ”Youʼve always been so dedicated, always looking out for him. Whatʼs changed?”

Selene instantly focused on someone else,

Selene shifted her focus to Helena, ”Helena!” Helenaʼs eyes were distant, her mind clearly elsewhere, lost in thoughts, Selene gave a give glance at Lia who had an expression, ʼSomething is fishy!ʼ

”Helena?” Seleneʼs voice was low, almost a whisper.

Helena startled, her cheeks flushing a deep pink as she snapped out of her thoughts. ”W-What is it?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

There was a hint of fear in her eyes!

”Weʼre going to eat together,” Selene announced, her tone leaving no room for argument. She gestured to Aria and Lia, who both waved with welcoming smiles, ”Can you join us?”

Helenaʼs eyes flicked between Selene, Aria, and Lia, her anxiety growing with each passing second. Finally, she hesitated before asking the question that had been gnawing at her, ”I-Is Aether going to be there?”

Seleneʼs lips curled into a knowing grin. She could see right through Helenaʼs fears, and could practically taste the apprehension that radiated off her.

”What do you want, Helena? Should I invite him or not?” Seleneʼs words were teasing, but there was an underlying sharpness that made Helenaʼs heart race.

”H-Huh? What do you mean?” Helena stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. The colour drained from her face as Seleneʼs gaze bore into her as if she knew exactly what was going on in Helenaʼs mind.

”Weʼre fine with him being there,” Selene continued, her voice now smooth and almost comforting. ”But for you... well, thatʼs a different story, isnʼt it?”

ʼD-Did she know?ʼ Helenaʼs thoughts spiralled out of control, her face turning a bright shade of red as she lowered her head in shame. She couldnʼt bear the thought of Selene knowing her secret.

Selene watched Helenaʼs reaction with a mix of amusement and something darker, something that twisted her smirk into something almost predatory, ”Donʼt worry,” Selene said softly, ”I didnʼt see anything... I just saw you running away, thatʼs all.” The lie rolled off her tongue effortlessly, and she watched as Helena sighed in relief, clearly believing her.

”W-Well... I...” Helenaʼs voice trailed off, her mind racing for an excuse. She didnʼt want to face Aether, not now when her heart was still aching, when she was still struggling to control the emotions that threatened to overwhelm her. She needed time, time to sort through her feelings, to figure out what to do next.

Seeing Helenaʼs hesitation, Selene leaned in closer, ”Then itʼs settled. Weʼll make it a girlsʼ night out!” Seleneʼs tone was light, almost playful.

Helena blinked in surprise, She nodded slowly.

”No, she wonʼt!” Finnianʼs voice cut through the air like a blade.

Selene turned to face him, her expression shifting to one of annoyance.

Without missing a beat, Selene turned back to Helena, completely ignoring Finnian, ”Weʼll go after classes are over, okay?” Her tone was firm.

Helena glanced at Finnian, who was glaring at her with an intensity that made her shrink back slightly.

”Okay! Letʼs have a feast later!” Selene announced cheerfully, turning on her heel to head back to her seat. She didnʼt even spare Finnian a glance, her focus entirely on the plans she had just made.

Finnianʼs lips twitched in irritation. He reached out, trying to grab Seleneʼs hand, ”Iʼm talking to you,” he growled. ”She wonʼt be co—”

But Finnian froze mid-sentence, his hand stopping in mid-air when he saw the look in Seleneʼs eyes. They were cold, emotionless, a void where there had once been warmth. Her voice was flat, devoid of any feeling as she spoke, ”Iʼm already doing my best for my beloved... Please donʼt make me angry.” There was a warning in her tone, a darkness that made Finnian take an involuntary step back.

With that, Selene walked away.
