The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 521: Chapter 521: Sweet Talk and Flattery

At this moment, Xia Wanqing was becoming more and more satisfied with such a straightforward Huangfu Yuxuan!

Although he looked like a scholar with a handsome fair face, his temperament was just like one from the Jianghu!

Xia Wenjin drank a whole pot of wine without stopping. When she put the pot down, Huangfu Yuxuan had also finished his drink, and he smiled at Xia Wenjin, saying, ”Miss Xia, you have quite the tolerance for alcohol!”

Xia Wenjin glanced at the wine pot and then at him, and said lightly, ”Your alcohol tolerance is not bad either!”

She picked up a bowl for soup and reached out to Xia Wanqing: ”Dad, lend me this pot!”

Xia Wanqing hurriedly held onto the wine pot: ”One pot is enough for you both, this one is mine!” He had been so preoccupied watching them drink that he forgot to drink himself, how careless!

Xia Wenjin, with a faint smile, said, ”Wasn’t I just toasting for you earlier? Now I need to toast Young Master Huangfu with a bowl of wine. If you think it’s unnecessary, then forget it!”

Upon hearing that she was going to toast Huangfu Yuxuan, Xia Wanqing found himself in a struggle between desire and propriety. The wine is good, but the son-in-law is even better. If he could get such a good son-in-law by sacrificing one pot of wine, it seemed worth it!

Reluctantly, he glanced at the wine pot but finally pretended to be generous and handed it over with a pained expression: ”Take it, take it!”

Huangfu Yuxuan also smiled. Just now, they were toasting on behalf of Chief Xia. Now it was her own toast?

Women are just like that; their mouths say one thing, but their hearts say another. Though she looked indifferent on the outside, wasn’t she secretly pleased? Otherwise, why would she toast again after the first one? Clearly, she was just looking for an opportunity to talk to him more!

Xia Wenjin set up the soup bowls, poured three bowls, and first handed one to Xia Wanqing, reluctantly saying, ”Dad, honestly, I really don’t see what’s so good about this person. When I met him on the road a few days ago, he was being handsy with me, and I gave him a good beating! Isn’t a true gentleman supposed to behave properly? But when he saw I was alone, he tried to bully me. A person like him has character issues!”

Did that really happen?

Xia Wanqing’s expression changed slightly, and he couldn’t help but look at Huangfu Yuxuan.

Did Huangfu Yuxuan really do such a thing? Was everything Huangfu Yuxuan had shown before just an illusion? If he really tried to bully Wenjin when she was alone, regardless of his other qualities, Xia Wanqing could not accept it!

Huangfu Yuxuan was a bit caught off guard. They were just toasting and smiling at each other, and suddenly she was making accusations?

And evidently, these accusations were quite effective in front of Xia Wanqing.

He realized that the little girl still didn’t want to marry him and was playing tricks.

But, unfortunately, these tricks were too clumsy, things he had played with long ago.

He immediately put on a wronged expression and said, ”Miss Xia, I’ve already explained before. When I first saw you, I recognized you immediately and was very happy. In a moment of uncontrollable joy, I might have gotten a little too close, causing you to misunderstand! But I had absolutely no intention of being disrespectful!”

So, that was it. Xia Wanqing let out a breath of relief.

But Xia Wenjin then spoke in a low voice, ”At that time, you were acting all high and mighty, saying you were the Heir of King Liang, an Imperial Grandson, and not only were you being handsy, you were also teasing me. So, why act bold then and now not dare to admit it in front of my father?”

Seeing Xia Wanqing’s suspecting glance, Huangfu Yuxuan quickly said, ”Miss, at that time, while chatting with you, you said you didn’t recognize me. I was merely introducing myself and was not being high and mighty. Perhaps you misunderstood? As for teasing, where did that come from? I have only the utmost respect for you!”

Xia Wanqing looked at Huangfu Yuxuan, then at Xia Wenjin, and said with a smile, ”Young people sometimes have misunderstandings. It’s good to talk things out. Come on, drink, drink!” As he spoke, he gave Xia Wenjin a disapproving glance.

Xia Wenjin was speechless.

Seeing that glance, she knew that her father believed Huangfu Yuxuan more, thinking she was deliberately trying to ruin this marriage by tarnishing Huangfu Yuxuan’s name!

But she wasn’t blind; she could clearly see the intense possessiveness in Huangfu Yuxuan’s eyes at that time!

Since her father didn’t believe her, saying more was pointless. Xia Wenjin rolled her eyes.

Huangfu Yuxuan secretly felt relieved. The days he spent in Haotian Village were not in vain.

He happily took up the remaining bowl of wine.

He was very cautious. He had watched the entire process of Xia Wenjin taking the bowl, pouring the wine, and handing it over, making sure she hadn’t done anything tricky, so he picked up the wine bowl without hesitation.

Xia Wanqing urged, ”Jin’er, didn’t you say you were going to toast Young Master Xuan again?”

Xia Wenjin reluctantly lifted her bowl, made a symbolic toast, and said, ”Thank you for taking care of my father. I’ll handle it myself in the future, so don’t trouble yourself anymore!”

Huangfu Yuxuan said, ”Wenjin, Uncle Xia and I hit it off right away. I have great respect for him. Besides, they came to the Capital City to visit, which is an honor to me. The word ’trouble’ is too heavy!”

Xia Wenjin knew that Huangfu Yuxuan was skilled in sweet-talking, and these words scored points with her father. Looking at Huangfu Yuxuan, she said coldly, ”People from Jianghu and you, government people, shouldn’t cross paths. It was a mishap, so let’s correct this error in the future! Young Master Huangfu, you have your own path. If you dare to use or manipulate my father, I won’t let you off! I’ve finished my drink, do as you please!”

After saying this, she raised the bowl to her lips and drank it all in one go.

Although she said ”as you please,” could Huangfu Yuxuan really be casual?

Huangfu Yuxuan had drunk too fast earlier and was feeling a bit tipsy; the wine was quite strong, but he was still clear-headed, though his speech was slightly slurred, earnestly saying, ”How could I use or manipulate Uncle Xia? Miss Xia, you worry too much!”

Huangfu Yuxuan was just about to show his manliness in front of her, so he picked up the wine bowl and drank it all.

Over on Xia Wanqing’s side, he was still savoring the wine’s aroma, while these two had already finished their drinks, and he quickly finished his as well. Such good wine, it really made one’s mouth water!

Xia Wenjin poured wine again, and this time, after pouring three bowls, the wine pot was empty.

Xia Wanqing drank quickly this time, finishing his bowl before the other two even started drinking.

He complained to Xia Wenjin, ”Jin’er, what are you saying? Yuxuan is very nice. I think you’re too... too much...”

The more he talked, the more his tongue twisted, and toward the end, he was already slurring his words, tilting his head and falling asleep on the table.

Huangfu Yuxuan was quite surprised; he went over and shook Xia Wanqing, saying, ”Uncle Xia, Uncle Xia...” ℴℴ𝘮

Xia Wenjin said indifferently, ”No need to shake him, he’s already drunk!”

Huangfu Yuxuan said in surprise, ”Uncle Xia’s drinking capacity is quite good, how could he be drunk after just two bowls?”

He began to suspect, was there something wrong with the wine? If there was indeed a problem with the wine, wasn’t Xia Wenjin’s target him? How could Xia Wanqing be the one affected?
