The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 517: Chapter 517: Yan Zui Xuan in the Capital City

I don’t know what kind of enchantment Huangfu Yuxuan cast, but his gaze was full of love and admiration, even more affectionate than towards himself.

Xia Wanqing helplessly said, ”Jin’er, just give your old man some face! It’s been a long time since we’ve had a meal together as father and daughter!”

Looking at her father’s pleading eyes, Xia Wenjin couldn’t bring herself to refuse.

In her father’s mind, her leaving the mountain for just two years felt like a long separation between them as father and daughter! But to her, it seemed like a lifetime apart.

Indeed, they hadn’t had a meal together as father and daughter for a very long time.

Moreover, father was currently deceived by Huangfu Yuxuan, unaware of his true nature and still admiring and valuing the false image he projected.

To break off the engagement wasn’t something that could be done overnight.

Seeing Xia Wenjin stop speaking, Huangfu Xuan was also quite pleased. His intention was also to get more chances to engage with Xia Wenjin.

Thus, amid Huangfu Yuxuan’s noble restraint, Xia Wanqing’s beaming smile, and Xia Wenjin’s reluctance, this so-called housewarming banquet was finally set on their journey to Yan Zui Xuan.

The Capital City had opened a branch of Yan Zui Xuan, and Xia Wenjin knew about it. In fact, it was part of the plan she had initially devised for Yan Huanlin. The Yan family had been in the restaurant business for years and had their own model and method. Although Yan Huanlin followed Xia Wenjin’s plan, he incorporated some of his own habits, otherwise, the branch in the Capital City could have opened a month earlier.

However, this speed wasn’t slow either.

After making a splash in the Capital City, Yan Zui Xuan’s business really saw a stream of guests coming.

Xia Wenjin originally wanted to find an opportunity to check it out, but she didn’t expect it to be such timing, with unexpected company.

They took a carriage, and Huangfu Yuxuan’s carriage was spacious enough, so naturally, he invited them to ride together.

And he thoughtfully sent Hong Jie to notify Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin, but Hong Jie returned saying that they couldn’t come as they were on duty.

Huangfu Yuxuan even personally went to buy some fruits and candied snacks for the journey, mainly for Xia Wenjin to eat.

Xia Wanqing was very comforted; seeing this attention to detail and tender care from Young Master Xuan showed he sincerely had Wenjin in his heart.

He wanted a son-in-law for Wenjin not for great wealth, but simply hoping he would treat Wenjin well. Now that he seemed to have both, he naturally felt happy inside.

Watching Huangfu Yuxuan busying himself gracefully throughout the process, he appeared enthusiastic and courteous, sincere and approachable.

Xia Wenjin looked at him, then at the approvingly smiling face of her father beside him, feeling a sense of helplessness rising.

To be fair, she couldn’t blame her father for being easily swayed; it’s just that Huangfu Yuxuan performed so flawlessly. Without considering the memories from her previous life, this person seemed almost perfect.

Perhaps too perfect, which is precisely deception; she was deceived by perfection in her past life, and now finally awoke to the realization that true perfection doesn’t exist in this world. If it does, it must be a facade!

To reveal this facade in front of her father would be very difficult!

Fortunately, Huangfu Yuxuan had mentioned directly in front of her father today that he wouldn’t force her, and if she wasn’t willing, there would be no marriage.

A verbal engagement, with the opportunity to dissolve it later.

The carriage arrived at the entrance of Yan Zui Xuan, where a waiter eagerly welcomed them. The waiter was quite perceptive, immediately recognizing Huangfu Yuxuan despite the bruise on his face affecting his good looks, and warmly ushered them to the second floor.

Huangfu Yuxuan requested a private room.

After entering and taking their seats, Huangfu Yuxuan said to the waiter, ”What signature dishes do you have here? Bring the menu over!”

The waiter pointed at the table with a smile, ”Young Master, the signature dishes of our establishment are all listed here.”

It was a bound booklet, made with thick paper.

Opening it, Huangfu Yuxuan was quite surprised; each page contained only a single dish, with an elegant name and an accompanying picture.

It was a drawing of a dish.

A dish that would arouse one’s appetite just by looking at the picture.

Huangfu Yuxuan understood that the drawing represented the dish shown in the name.

This straightforward method wasn’t bad, but Huangfu Yuxuan was curious; the paintings were beautiful, but would the dishes look just as good when served?

He flipped through the book; each painting was exquisite, with over thirty pages in the booklet, each depicting a different dish, some meaty, some vegetarian, some vibrant green, some fiery red, some a riot of color, some pure white like jade...

Colorful, exceptionally attractive.

He twitched his mouth slightly and asked the waiter, ”Which among these are your signature dishes?”

The waiter smiled honestly, ”To answer the young master, all listed here are our signature dishes!”

Huangfu Yuxuan: ”...”

He had heard of restaurants having four, five, or even seven or eight signature dishes, but never one with over thirty signature dishes.

Could this be another peculiar feature of Yan Zui Xuan?

Huangfu Yuxuan said, ”Then bring one of each!”

The waiter beamed, ”The young master is truly generous, but please forgive us, our house has a rule; altogether with three people, you can order only up to six dishes, adding one more incurs ten times the price! Adding two, is twenty times the price,”

Huangfu Yuxuan: ”...”

He had never encountered such an odd restaurant, and his face darkened immediately, ”Are you a restaurant? Do you dislike us ordering more? Does your boss not want to earn money?”

The waiter remained smiling, courteous and polite, ”Beg your pardon, our boss said, delicious food and drink are best enjoyed in moderation. Gourmet feasts behind red gates often go to waste while bones freeze in the street, so at our Yan Zui Xuan, wastage is not allowed. Each person can order at most two dishes, this is the rule!”

”Such a rule? What if it’s not enough to eat?”

The waiter replied, ”If it’s not enough after finishing, you can order more, without additional charge!”

Huangfu Yuxuan was a bit annoyed inside; he’d never faced such a situation when treating guests. This restaurant was refusing to make money by limiting how much guests could order?

Was their scatterbrained owner worried his restaurant would survive?

Huangfu Yuxuan’s face darkened further, ”Get your boss here!”

The waiter politely said, ”Young master, our owner mentioned, our restaurant does accommodate reason. There are no shortages of wealthy people around. If you wish to order more dishes, just add Silver. Whether the owner is here or not makes no difference!”

Xia Wanqing curiously laughed, ”This restaurant is quite interesting, and its owner even more so. Are they desperate for money or just plain silly?”

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

The plain silly, desperate moneymaker is right here!

Xia Wenjin shifted her gaze, smiling subtly, ”Seems like six dishes are enough to eat!”
