The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 250: Chapter 250: Crimson

Xia Wenjin couldn’t make a sound, even though her heart had been trained to be as firm as wood and stone from her past life’s experiences, yet this situation was completely unexpected and beyond her control, and her feelings were complex.

But no matter how complex, it couldn’t be more complex than Huangfu Jingchen’s feelings at this moment.

For so long, he had been tangled, anxious, in pain, struggling...

He thought he was the problem.

If not, why would he fall for a man?

But now, he suddenly discovered that Wenjin... is a woman?

Then he wasn’t the problem, and he blurted out, ”Wenjin, since you are a woman, why have you always dressed as a man?”

After asking, he smacked his head, realizing he was stupid; he’d sealed Wenjin’s voice acupoint, how could she answer him?

Wenjin not being a man was supposed to be a happy thing, but thinking about the environment Wenjin was in now, and the possible future... his heart sank to the ground.

After shock, panic, embarrassment, and helplessness, the youth’s clear gaze calmed down. Really, whether Wenjin was male or female, he had already been through the necessary turmoil and struggle before. His true concern was no longer tangled up in Xia Wenjin’s identity, but rather whether she was safe!

Thus, what’s meant to be seen must be seen, and he wouldn’t stop because of discovering her big secret midway. He solemnly said, ”Forgive my intrusion!”

The white cloth was wrapped too tightly, concealing the heart area.

Huangfu Jingchen wanted to see if there were red spots at her heart area, although he inadvertently discovered her female identity, he had not yet seen the result he needed.

The simplest way, naturally, is to directly peel it away and take a look.

However, Xia Wenjin was wrapped too tight, Huangfu Jingchen managed to peel a bit, but couldn’t move it at all.

He looked at Xia Wenjin again, saw her ashamed and anxious gaze.

He knew, if he continued, she would surely get angry.

But if he didn’t check, if he didn’t confirm, how could he be assured? He avoided Xia Wenjin’s gaze, awkwardly said, ”Wenjin, I know you’ll be mad at me, hate me, but I still have to take a look. Even if you call me a lecher!”

After speaking, he resolutely helped her up, letting her lean against him, searched for the end of the white cloth and unraveled it layer by layer.

Though he appeared calm, inside his heart was pounding.

He knew what he was doing was inappropriate, knowing Xia Wenjin was a woman, he insisted on looking, which was improper, yet without a glance, how could he be relieved?

As long as Wenjin is confirmed to be fine, even if she hits him, scolds him, or even kills him afterwards, he would accept it!

The white cloth was undone, the girl’s fair and tender skin was exposed before him.

Huangfu Jingchen dared not harbor any improper thoughts; he was so nervous his hands trembled. He pulled away the last layer of cloth.

He lowered his head, on the pristine skin, a crimson bloom!

Huangfu Jingchen’s pupils shrank tightly, staring at the crimson patch.

Not a red spot, not the size of a green pea, nor a soybean, but as large as a pigeon egg.

A pea size would trigger the illness; thus this pigeon egg size, had it already been triggered?

He looked at Xia Wenjin in astonishment.

Xia Wenjin knew she couldn’t hide it any longer, she averted her eyes, not daring to meet his.

To Xia Wenjin, being doubly exposed, she didn’t know what to say; her identity as a woman revealed by this youth, as well as her secret place seen by him, she should be furious, ready to settle accounts with him.

However, he discovered her secret unwittingly because he worried about her and had to cross the line. When she could no longer conceal that she had contracted the illness, she felt guilty towards the young man before her.

”Is this why you refused to see me today, and instead sent Doctor Yan to push me away?” Huangfu Jingchen’s voice was hoarse and every word seemed to be spoken with difficulty.

Seeing Xia Wenjin’s apologetic gaze and lips moving yet producing no sound, he regained his senses and released Xia Wenjin’s voice acupoint.

Limbs regained motion, voice returned, it felt good.

But Xia Wenjin only had a bitter smile left, she covered up with her clothes, sat up, and said in a casual tone, ”Whether I am ill or not, you shouldn’t be here!”

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”Why didn’t you tell me?”

Xia Wenjin, having already dressed, wasn’t wrapped in long cloth anymore; be it men’s or women’s clothes, she didn’t care, it was merely convenience.

She smiled and said, ”It wouldn’t help even if I told you, you’re not a doctor. I am a doctor myself, I know my body, rest assured, I’m fine!”

Huangfu Jingchen looked at her without speaking.

Fine?

Alright?

Does she really think her words are convincing now?

She has already had an outbreak.

As Xia Wenjin got up, Huangfu Jingchen’s gaze caught a glimpse of red, he lowered his head, and saw on the bed a patch of crimson on the white handkerchief.

He suddenly remembered that he wasn’t at ease with her, so he turned back, happened to hear her coughing, and when he pushed open the door and entered, he seemed to see her hiding something behind her?

Later when her acupoint was tapped, and she was placed on the bed, the item she hid behind fell onto the bed.

Xia Wenjin noticed it too, and hurriedly reached out to grab it, but Huangfu Jingchen was quicker, already holding the handkerchief.

That piece of crimson was bright with a faint tinge of blood.

Huangfu Jingchen’s eyes were grave, filled with immense panic, ”Did you... start coughing blood?”

Xia Wenjin took the handkerchief from him, crumpled it and tucked it into her sleeve, calmly saying, ”I know my body well; compared to other plague patients, I have a much stronger resistance. Look, I can still walk and run right now. Studying the plague remedies from my own body is more direct, more effective, and more precise. I believe in a few days, I will surely develop a cure!”

Her optimism, her casualness, her indifference, stirred anger within Huangfu Jingchen, and he said, ”Have you thought about how long it will take to develop? And this plague, once it breaks out, leaves only ten days to live!”

Since the quarantine point was established, more precise data had been obtained; how long it takes for patients to fall ill after contracting, and how long they live after the onset, all have been meticulously recorded, and this data is delivered to Shang Jingwang, so naturally, Huangfu Jingchen can see it.

”It’s no longer ten days now!” Xia Wenjin said, ”There’s a patient who has lived past twelve days!”

Looking at her serious demeanor, Huangfu Jingchen didn’t know whether to be angry or to feel pity; he bluntly crushed her hope, ”Does twelve days seem long?”

Just two more days.

Thinking of what could happen to Xia Wenjin after twelve days... his heart was gripped by fear, he abruptly stood up and grasped her hand, ”Come with me and leave here!”

Xia Wenjin said, ”Go where?”

”I’ll take you to Capital City, find a renowned doctor! I will definitely find someone who can cure you! I won’t let anything happen to you, never!”
