The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Not Seen

Huangfu Jingchen withdrew his thoughts, his face relaxed, and a smile appeared on his clear and handsome features.

Finally, he could see Wenjin and have a chat with her.

Even if it’s just a few words, it’s good. He wants to know how she is, to remind her that even if she’s eager to find a cure for the epidemic, she must take care of her health!

However, the person who came out of the door was just a doctor in his forties, one recruited by Shang Jingwang from the Prefecture’s clinic.

Huangfu Jingchen stepped forward two steps and called out, ”Doctor Yan!”

Doctor Yan bowed to Huangfu Jingchen and said, ”Young Master Huang, Doctor Xia said he’s busy and asked me to organize these medicinal materials, make a list, and hand them over to you!”

Huangfu Jingchen was slightly taken aback and asked, ”He’s busy? Not even a moment to come out and give a word?”

Doctor Yan said, ”That’s what Doctor Xia instructed!”

On the first day Shang Jingwang arrived, he told all the doctors that everything here was under Xia Wenjin’s command. Initially, seeing that Xia Wenjin was a young man who hadn’t even reached the age of twenty, in the field of medicine, the older you are, the more respected you become. Xia Wenjin was far too young, inevitably looked down upon by some doctors.

They feared that Xia Wenjin might just be an outsider, relying on the authority of the Prefecture’s official, arbitrarily directing without knowledge. Such outsiders directing insiders, it’s not unheard of before.

However, later on, after observing Xia Wenjin’s conduct, they gradually dispelled this notion.

Especially seeing Xia Wenjin tirelessly taking care of the patients, unafraid of contracting the disease, his tone gentle, his attitude humble, without any airs, even personally attending to everything, not fearing filth or contracting the disease.

They found that Xia Wenjin was not just putting on a show; he genuinely cared for those patients. Because between an act and sincerity, differences can be seen in the subtleties.

Someone witnessed a patient coughing blood, which splattered on Xia Wenjin’s robe, turning the hem red, but Xia Wenjin didn’t mind at all, not even glancing at it, instead focusing on the patient’s reaction, trying to alleviate his suffering.

This attitude, regardless of medical skills, already reflects one’s character. A healer’s benevolence was so vividly embodied in her.

Even though in the eyes of many, she was still just a teenager, the doctors were no longer as resistant as they were initially.

Though Xia Wenjin was in charge of directing them all, she neither bossed them around nor spoke harshly, even to those who initially resisted her or spoke rudely, she never deliberately targeted them. She treated everyone equally.

She understood the doctors’ fear of the Severe Epidemic Area, so she instituted half-day shifts between the Severe and Light Epidemic Areas, rotating every three hours, including herself.

No, she wasn’t in it. Because she was always in the Severe Epidemic Area.

Later, after Xia Wenjin demonstrated her superb medical skills, these doctors felt even more ashamed. It turned out this young person didn’t just have a benevolent heart, but his medical skills surpassed theirs in every aspect, and it was only his age that was less than theirs. Only then did they truly submit to him from the bottom of their hearts.

They all listened to Xia Wenjin.

During this period, Xia Wenjin only took short naps when exhausted and continued. Such high-intensity continuous work made the boy, once as picturesque, appear a bit haggard.

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”I want to see Doctor Xia; there are some things I want to ask him. Please let him know!”

Doctor Yan had come along with Shang Jingwang, and he was aware of Shang Jingwang’s attitude toward Huangfu Jingchen, so he replied, ”Young Master Huang, please wait a moment, I’ll go tell Doctor Xia.”

Huangfu Jingchen waited anxiously outside. After a while, the door opened again, and Doctor Yan appeared once more. He shook his head at Huangfu Jingchen and said, ”Young Master Huang, Doctor Xia is currently treating a patient and isn’t available. He said you should leave early; this is an epidemic area, after all, and it’s not safe!”

Huangfu Jingchen looked at Doctor Yan, his eyelids lowered, concealing his emotions. By now, the message was clear, and Huangfu Jingchen should have left. Doctor Yan was also prepared to turn back into the Severe Epidemic Area.

But Huangfu Jingchen didn’t want to leave like that. He insisted, ”I must see Wenjin today. If she won’t come out, then I will go in!” Why, at this moment, did the urge to see Xia Wenjin feel especially strong? He even had a foreboding feeling.

Why doesn’t Wenjin want to see him?

He came with medicinal materials, materials that five days ago Xia Wenjin hoped to receive soon; with these medicines, the patients held hope.

Now that the medicine had arrived, she didn’t dare to come out. Something must be wrong.

But what could it be?

Busy? Treating patients?

None of these are reasons because she has always been busy, always treating patients. Just a moment to look at the medicinal materials, look at him, how could she not have time?

Doctor Yan was startled, turned around to persuade, ”Young Master Huang, this is the Severe Epidemic Area. There’s still no cure, it’s very unsafe inside, you can’t go in!”

”I’ll just take a quick look and come out!”

”Young Master Huang, there’s nothing worth seeing. You should leave quickly, staying even a moment longer here is not safe.” Knowing that even with daily preventions like medicine and moxa fumigation, they were still anxious, fearing to contract the disease.

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”I must go in!”

Saying this, he was about to head inside.

Doctor Yan urgently shouted, ”Young Master Huang, don’t risk your life! Even a doctor got infected the day before, and is now bedridden. You haven’t taken medicine or prevention; contracting the disease isn’t a joke!”

Hearing that even a doctor got infected, Huangfu Jingchen’s eyes darkened; this indicated the epidemic had worsened.

Five days ago, Xia Wenjin had told him that the epidemic was under tight control, and those infected were under close observation, with their symptoms being continuously monitored and the prescriptions being adjusted.

If the medicinal materials had arrived earlier, or if they could conduct more experiments, they might have developed a cure sooner.

At that time, she was optimistic.

Now even doctors were infected, clearly meaning no cure had been found or what was developed was not effective yet.

Moreover, infected two days ago and already bedridden? This indicates they’ve been sick for a few days.

Because Xia Wenjin had told him that when the disease first strikes, a small red spot appears at the heart, and it grows from a green bean size to a soybean, gradually enlarging until pea-sized when symptoms flare up, allowing movement, and when it reaches the size of a pigeon egg, one becomes bedridden.

These doctors, not constantly in the Severe Epidemic Area, still got infected, what about Wenjin?

Huangfu Jingchen realized where his unease stemmed from. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

He was worried about Xia Wenjin.

If earlier he was merely trying to persuade Doctor Yan, now he had decided; he would go in, and see Wenjin, ensuring she was alright.

Seeing him about to storm inside, Doctor Yan hastily said, ”Stop him quickly!”
