Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1735: Chapter 1725: Is she the only one at fault?

”Don’t give me that nonsense about Baron and Ms. Clark not being suitable for each other. It’s not for you to decide what’s suitable!”

”The reason you’ve done so many ridiculous things is because you feel differently about Baron, right?”

”You don’t just see him as your brother, do you?”

Skye Lawrence listened to his sharp accusations and suddenly erupted. She lifted her head abruptly, her handsome and beautiful face brimming with deep resentment and anger, ”So what if I do? I’m perfectly entitled to like him!”

Nicholas Lawrence was taken aback by her, furrowing his brows, ”What did you say?”

Skye Lawrence decided not to hide it anymore; there was nothing to hide, ”That day at the old house, I heard your conversation with Grandpa. I learned about my background—I was never part of the Lawrence Family. Liking him isn’t something that goes against ethics or morals.”

”The Old Master obviously realized that I liked him, yet he forced me to get married in a short period. Yes, I like him, but I’ve never planned to be with him. I know as long as I’m a First Young Lady of the Lawrence Corporation and remain as Skye Lawrence, I could never tell him my feelings. Nor could I ever be with him. Unless I want the Lawrence Corporation’s reputation to be ruined and the Lawrence Family to be unable to hold their heads high in high society!”

”I know I can’t!” Skye Lawrence clenched her fists, restraining herself with elegance and nobility as a First Young Lady of the Lawrence Family should. Her beautiful eyes gazed at Nicholas Lawrence as she continued, ”I never intended to do anything. I just wanted Baron to live well. But how did the Old Master act? After discovering my feelings for Baron, he first forced me to marry quickly, then tacitly approved of Baron’s relationship with Enna Clark to guard against me. I can’t and shouldn’t be with Baron, but is Enna Clark really suitable for Baron?”

”She is from the Habsden Family! I can’t believe the Old Master doesn’t know about the Habsden Family, doesn’t know how many eyes are always watching Enna Clark! Being with her is too dangerous for Baron! As Baron’s sister, is it wrong for me not to want to see my brother face danger in the name of so-called love?”

”I never intended to do anything to the Lawrence Corporation. Whether it was holding a shareholders’ meeting or shorting Lawrence’s stock, I always had a fallback plan. I didn’t genuinely disregard Lawrence’s survival; I just wanted to use these to make Baron break up first. If he agreed to break up, there wouldn’t have been the shareholders’ meeting after.”

She really didn’t want to do anything to the Lawrence Corporation, and if she truly intended to, she wouldn’t have agreed to that man’s demands.

She knew she was wrong this time, but she had paid the price. She was also willing to do her best to make amends.

She knows she did something wrong, but didn’t the Old Master also do wrong?

Didn’t they?

Why couldn’t they understand her?

Nicholas Lawrence didn’t know she had eavesdropped on that secret that day. Reflecting back on the way he bumped into her at the time, he just realized that her composure then was all an act.

He first closed his eyes, suppressing the weariness in them. Then he opened his eyes and looked at Skye Lawrence with an indistinct expression, ”Skye, I truly see you as my child. But you really went wrong this time. No matter what your reasons are, you shouldn’t have poisoned the Old Master. He did ask you to marry, but he didn’t force you to sell out your marriage. Think back on how he’s treated you all these years, despite being overbearing. This time, you’ve not only broken his heart but mine as well.”

”You should leave. I have nothing more to say to you.”
