Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1703: Chapter 1693: My Whole Arm is Numb

Half an hour later, Baron Lawrence took her and left early.

The driver had been waiting outside; as soon as they came out, he opened the car door for them, ”Lord, Ms. Clark, please get in the car.”

Baron Lawrence got in the car first, and Enna Clark followed.

Perhaps due to exhaustion, Baron Lawrence leaned against the leather seat and closed his eyes after getting into the car, yet still held her hand, ”Enna Clark, let me know when we arrive.”

”Okay.” Enna Clark noticed the signs of fatigue in his eyes and quietly said, ”You should sleep.”

”I want to hear you talk.”

This request would undoubtedly seem bizarre to others.

But Enna Clark knew the reason; Baron Lawrence had trouble sleeping, yet for some reason, listening to her voice helped him fall asleep quickly.

”Okay, just give me a moment.” She took out her phone and randomly chose a historical story, then began to read aloud.

Her voice was soothing and tranquil, gentle like a breeze that made one involuntarily relax...

The man with a proud outline relaxed, his body, which had been stiff like a rock the whole night, softened against the seat, easing his nerves.

Enna Clark continued reading while observing his reactions. When she saw his brows relax, appearing to be asleep, she took a moment to glance at the driver, lowered her voice, and said, ”Drive a bit slower.”

After a brief thought, she added, ”No rush to get to the hospital, just drive around the area for an hour before heading there.”

”Yes, Miss Clark.”

The driver indeed slowed down considerably, making the ride particularly smooth in the night’s darkness...

Enna Clark lowered her head again, lifted her phone, and tirelessly continued to read aloud.

In a blink of an eye, over an hour had passed.

The driver had circled the hospital’s ring road three times; as he completed the fourth loop, he couldn’t help but ask, ”Miss Clark, should we keep driving?”

Baron Lawrence hadn’t woken up yet.

Enna Clark maintained her sideways posture, her hand still tightly clasped by him even in his slumber, causing her entire arm to stiffen. She carefully tried to shift while saying to the driver, ”Let’s drive a little longer.”

This man rarely had the chance to rest, and she hoped he could rest a bit more; otherwise, even if he were made of steel, he wouldn’t endure such strain.

Her attempt to move was not smooth; Baron Lawrence gripped her hand too tightly.

If Enna Clark truly wanted to free her hand, she’d have to forcibly pry his fingers open.

But her entire arm had gone numb, and maintaining one position for so long also strained her left shoulder and neck.

Cautiously, she tried reaching out her hand to pull free.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she managed to loosen one finger, the man, who had been asleep, woke up; the finger she had spent ten minutes freeing was firmly clamped onto her again like a vice.

”What are you doing?”

”...You’re awake?” Enna Clark looked up, and sure enough, saw him with his eyes open.

Baron Lawrence had just woken up, with a trace of post-sleep irritation in his deep eyes, glanced down at her gentle face, furrowed his brow, and asked, ”What are you doing?”

”Nothing at all.”

She would certainly not admit she was trying to pry his hand away just now.

Her left arm had stiffened nearly into a rock, and feeling uncomfortable, Enna Clark shifted slightly, unable to resist saying, ”Baron Lawrence, let go of my hand for now; my hand is numb.”

It’s not just numb; it also aches.
