Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 124: 124 Incident

Hou Chunxiang understood through this matter that all the flowery words said on a regular day mean nothing when it comes to matters of interest.

The six buckets were more than half full. ”Aunt Zhu, if it’s filled too much, it could easily spill.”

Hou Chunxiang was moved, despite everything, they didn’t refuse. That’s human kindness.

Today, Tan Shaoting, like always, circled the fields. The potatoes and sweet potatoes have already borne fruit, and the corn has grown ears, just hoping no kids come messing around.

Yuanyuan followed him; they reached the edge of the pond. This place was under intensive inspection, as every day many kids came here.

”There probably aren’t many fish left in the pond now.”

”Yes, no matter how many, they can’t withstand the kids coming to fish daily.”

Yuanyuan grabbed Tan Shaoting, ”Look, these potatoes have been dug out.” Yuanyuan said, frowning.

Tan Shaoting squatted down, these few potato plants had been dug out, but not all the plants were pulled out; this was done for disguise. If you’re not careful, you’d really miss it.

Tan Shaoting smiled, ”Pretty clever.”

Yuanyuan sighed, wondering whether to pursue the matter or not.

If not pursued, there’s fear they’ll worsen; if pursued, for just some food, it might change a child’s entire life.

But if not pursued, it might give them a lucky mindset and make them even more reckless in the future.

How could Tan Shaoting not understand Yuanyuan’s current thoughts?

”It should be pursued; however, even if knowing who it is, don’t mention names.”

Maybe due to the stolen potatoes, today not many people came to the pond. Yuanyuan and Tan Shaoting just stood on the shore watching them.

The kids below were feeling extremely guilty; the oldest among them was only six or seven. Being watched like this made them feel very uncomfortable.

Yuanyuan disliked such situations, but Tan Shaoting was right.

”My potatoes were stolen, which made me very angry; it’s not just about losing the items but the behavior itself.

If you’re really hungry, you can openly tell us, rather than sneaking around; that’s a matter of character.

Think about it for yourselves. I won’t pursue this time, but there definitely won’t be a next time.

I hope you tell others. I don’t want such a small matter to affect your future lives.”

Children from poor families mature early; they understood what Yuanyuan was saying. It’s just that their families had started restricting food, and kids being naughty consume quickly, seeing food nearby made them unable to resist.

Now that they’ve been found out, it makes them feel embarrassed.

After Yuanyuan spoke, the two left. It’s not being the Holy Mother, but sometimes it’s better to spare others.

It’s already the end of August. ”Look, the corn kernels are ripe now. We can start harvesting the corn soon.”

Tan Shaoting nodded with a smile, having no objections.

”There will be a lot of people coming to help.”

Yuanyuan nodded. Anyway, she didn’t plan on making money with these corns; she’s already thought of going abroad. So having help is quite good.

”Can we go?”

Tan Shaoting said with a smile, ”We’ll say we’re going to the fertilizer factory in another place for a look.”

Yuanyuan understood that the farm placed great importance on cultivation.

”Sure, we won’t spend money taking the train, sneaking on board, otherwise it’s hard to explain isn’t it? Besides, we might not even get on.”

The two made plans and started preparing corn baskets.

”Should we ask Group Leader Ma; directly hand over the task this way, and get fifteen percent more than working ourselves.”

”They know better than you do. I’ll ask, if we don’t have to rub corn ourselves, that’s even better. That way losing some moisture isn’t a big deal.”

Yuanyuan just packed up at home. She’s really not prepared to harvest the food from these two hundred acres; it can all be exchanged for money, which helps her overcome a mental hurdle. So she doesn’t plan to tidy up much.

However, she does plan to gather the vegetables from the yard.

Yuanyuan didn’t brag about being hardworking while others slack off; watered inadequately in the fields, but these few greens in the yard not growing really is a problem.

The biggest worry now is the little donkey at home. If they all leave, no one would care for it; this is the most troubling point.

But watching before, Tan Shaoting sent the donkey to the city for care.

She’s made up her mind. If it’s tough, she’ll put the sheep into space.

A sheep’s lifespan is only a decade or so, this sheep is four or five years old now, right? Even if she doesn’t need it now, it must be nurtured well; she can’t bear to sell or slaughter it.

Actually, the best solution is for her to leave while Tan Shaoting stays home. But seeing he’s quite eager to go too.

Forget it, she’ll discuss it with him when she returns. It’s best for herself; any danger she can avoid, ever since she can cultivate, space has no time limit for her.

Tan Shaoting drove the donkey cart and found Ma Changshun, ”Group Leader Ma, we want to harvest corn in a few days.”

”Can you? Too early and there’s no yield.”

Tan Shaoting thought, ”Group Leader Ma, I actually went out last year; trying to get fertilizer, I saw in newspapers that using fertilizer early can boost yield severalfold.

But they didn’t give us any, I want to check again this year.”

”I know about the fertilizer, but we only have one factory here, supply can’t meet demand, so of course we can’t get any.”

”Group Leader Ma, I met some people there last year, this year I want to find them. They told me I went at the wrong time last year; in the big autumn, production is the same, using little, so there’s stockpile, maybe we can get some.”

Ma Changshun understood, ”Right, let’s go find Director Feng.”

The two sat in Tan Shaoting’s donkey cart.

”Xiao Tan, can you and that girl trust me? Or can you trust Director Feng?”

”Group Leader Ma, you can speak directly.”

”I think if you’re in a hurry to go, just hand over this land to the farm, let the public collect it; then there won’t be any mistakes, finishing the task, leave enough food for you two, and the rest can sell to the farm isn’t it?”

Tan Shaoting thought, actually, it’s best this way. But he still shook his head.

Yuanyuan said outside there and here have similar harvest times, slightly later by a few days than here.

Taking the train from here is just a few days, they’re just planning to go to pick, so they’re really not in a hurry.
