Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 80: 80 Prepare in Advance

Su Yuanyuan nodded, nowadays people are quite honest.

”If you take them all, I’ll give it to you for one yuan and fifty-five cents per pound.”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head with a smile. ”Uncle, how about this, one yuan and fifty cents per pound, and I’ll take them all.”

”One yuan fifty is not enough, it’s too little. If you buy them all, I have to give you the burlap sacks too, one yuan fifty really won’t do.”

”Uncle, how about one yuan fifty, and I’ll take everything?”

In the end, Su Yuanyuan made the purchase. It was a total of 108 pounds and six taels, all packed into fifteen bags.

”Let’s say these burlap sacks are one tael each, so that’s 107 pounds and one tael.”

”That comes to 160 yuan and sixty-five cents.”

The uncle nodded after a moment, ”Yes, just like you said, 160 yuan sixty-five cents.”

”Uncle, please push this cotton to the blacksmith for me.”

Today, it happened to be Old Yang’s eldest apprentice who came. ”Brother, I’ll leave this cotton here with you.”

”Sure, go ahead, I’ll deliver it to your house when I’m done.”

”Great, then I’ll buy more sweet potato starch.”

After paying, Su Yuanyuan continued shopping in the market. She finally found someone selling noodles and bought thirty pounds of sweet potato starch. She intended to buy more, but that was all they had left.

”Auntie, how much do you have at home?” Su Yuanyuan now thinks of storing up everything.

”My family specializes in making noodles. Do you still want sweet potato starch?”

”Yes, Auntie. How much can you sell to me?”

”How much do you want?”

”Do you have a thousand pounds?”

”I do, but the price can’t be any lower.” This sweet potato starch is mainly kept for making noodles and they don’t really need to sell it.

”Alright, Auntie, is this the only type of noodles? Do you have the wide ones?”

”Yes, we also have dragon whiskers noodles.”

”Great, then give me two hundred pounds of each type of noodles.”

”Girl, what are you buying so much for?”

”Auntie, can you lower the price a bit? I’m actually thinking about selling it outside to make some pocket money.”

”I’ll lower five cents per pound for sweet potato starch, and ten cents per pound for noodles.”

”Deal, Auntie you’re so generous.”

”Okay, when do you plan to pick it up?”

”Auntie, which village are you from? I’ll visit you tomorrow, can you deliver it to my home?”

In the end, they reached an agreement, and the auntie told her the location of her house.

Su Yuanyuan continued browsing the market and found someone selling millet. She bought twenty pounds, and also bought fifty pounds of sticky sorghum.

Seeing someone selling peanuts with the shell, there were two bags, and she bought over fifty pounds of them as well.

She made trips back and forth to Old Yang’s apprentice to drop things off.

”Girl, why are you buying so many things?”

”These are things I don’t have, so I couldn’t resist buying them.”

Su Yuanyuan realized she had bought too much and decided to rest for a while.

”Why did you stop shopping?”

”I like everything I see. I’m afraid I’ll spend all my money.”

Old Yang’s apprentice laughed.

”Brother, should I go back and make lunch first?”

”Sure, I want to eat meat pies. Wait for me, I’ll buy some meat, and you can bring it back to make meat pies, okay?”

”Alright, but no need to buy meat. I bought some yesterday, so I’ll head back first.”

Su Yuanyuan didn’t see Zhao Yanli and the others, so she rushed back home alone.

At home, she mixed the dough and chopped the meat filling. She also made cornmeal porridge and stir-fried cabbage.

In the afternoon, Su Yuanyuan went to the village where the noodles were sold. It was perfect to go in the afternoon since there would be fewer people on her way back in the evening.

Seeing how much she bought, they even gave her a few extra pounds of noodle scraps. She also bought some potato starch, but only fifty pounds.

Back at home, she stored all the things away, feeling very pleased with herself. She was prepared in advance and hoped that Su Daqiang’s family would quickly return. That way, she would be liberated.

Early the next morning, she started filling the sausages and steamed them, placing them in wooden tubs, five big tubs full. She could satisfy her cravings later on.

From then on, Su Yuanyuan settled down. It was soon the fifteenth of the lunar month, and the time for her fishing trip with Hu Chunhua had arrived.

On the afternoon of the fourteenth, Hu Chunhua came over. They agreed to go fishing that night.

Hu Chunhua returned home to prepare, taking thirty burlap sacks and a scoop.

She asked her eldest son to come along today too, considering him extra help.

By around 10 PM, their family of three came with a cart.

Su Yuanyuan also pushed a cart, making things a lot easier.

With four people chipping at the ice hole, the work went by very quickly.

”Uncle, let’s make this ice hole bigger this year.”

While scooping out ice, Su Yuanyuan dropped a drop of Spiritual Spring Water into it.

In less than five minutes, the fish crowded around.

Hu Chunhua’s family of three excitedly scooped up the fish with their scoops, placing them directly on the ice without worrying about the fish escaping.

After ten minutes, they couldn’t catch any more fish.

The thirty burlap sacks that Hu Chunhua brought weren’t enough. The twenty sacks that Su Yuanyuan brought fit them all in.

Since Su Yuanyuan’s home is close to the reservoir, everything was taken there, while Hu Chunhua stayed to watch the ice surface.

Su Yuanyuan emptied all the fish at home, and since the fish were already stiff, they hardly moved.

She pushed everything back bit by bit, and on the last trip, the four of them laughed at the sight of the fish in the yard.

”Girl, our two families can make quite some money this time.”

”Aunt, you take more, just give me thirty percent.”

Hu Chunhua’s voice instantly raised, ”No way! If we went by ourselves, we wouldn’t catch any fish. Splitting it evenly with you would be taking advantage of you.”

”Yeah, let’s split it half and half.” Yang Minggang agreed.

The family of three pushed their cart away, and Su Yuanyuan stayed inside the house for a while before heading back to the reservoir with her scoop.

Taking advantage of the ice hole, she decided to catch some fish herself.

Just like last year’s routine. This time, Su Yuanyuan got a little greedy and collected fish five times, estimating that her space now had a few thousand pounds of fish.

Returning home, it was already past 3 AM. After lighting a fire, she finally entered her space.

There was no heavy snow yet this year, so it seemed like she could only rely on a donkey cart to get to the county, but that was fine, it was easier, and she could sit on the cart.

Yesterday, Hu Chunhua asked Yang Minggang to bring the donkey cart to her house, so before 5 AM, the couple came.

The fish were all frozen, and they bagged them up. This way, even if someone saw them, they wouldn’t know it was fish.

”You two should eat when you arrive in the county.” Hu Chunhua reminded them.

After feeding the sheep, Su Yuanyuan sat on the donkey cart, estimating that they would arrive in the county by 7.

Su Yuanyuan wrapped herself up tightly but still felt cold, so she got off the cart to walk instead. Although it was tiring, at least it wasn’t cold!

Upon reaching the county, she didn’t eat first but went directly to Old Yang’s instead with the cart.
