My Martial Arts Level Never Drops

Chapter 206: Chapter 125: Monster

His master’s words left Qin Fang in shock.

”So you’re saying... the tens of thousands outside the city, the hundreds of thousands in the marketplaces and villages... they’re all ’Living Dead’?”

”No, they can’t even be considered ’Living Dead’... They’re simply dead!”

”It’s just that neither they, nor the people around them, have realized that they’re already ’dead’...”

Even though Qin Fang himself had brought it up, the very idea sent a chill down his spine!

His master was speechless for a long time, a rare look of shock on the old man’s face.

His master’s wife’s face was deathly pale... Although she said nothing, she wasn’t a fool; she knew exactly what the master and his disciple were discussing...

”For-fortunately...”

She murmured.

’Fortunately what?’

Qin Fang didn’t ask.

’But he knew the answer.’

...For a while, the Qi Blood Pill had been the most sought-after item in all of True Martial County.

The pills were far too easy to get.

If anyone around them had tried just one out of curiosity...

Then they would almost certainly be dead now!

The room fell silent. After a long while, his master let out a soft breath and said, ”Things have already come to this. There’s no use talking about it anymore... The most urgent matter is to find a way to escape this whirlpool.”

Qin Fang snapped out of it and quickly asked, ”Master, have you still not heard anything from Senior Sister?”

Hearing this, a worried look appeared in his master’s eyes. ”Normally, there would be a reply within three to five days. I used the carrier pigeon your Senior Sister specifically left for me to contact her... But I’ve sent five letters, and received no response to any of them. Either something has happened in the Prefecture City as well, or... something has happened to your Senior Sister.”

At his side, his master’s wife also showed deep worry in her eyes upon hearing this.

But in their current situation, they could barely protect themselves, let alone worry about Senior Sister.

...’Worrying was useless.’

Qin Fang lowered his voice. ”Master, the situation has reached an extremely chaotic stage. It’s highly likely those mysterious powers are about to begin their harvest... They’re about to start feasting on the ’blood food’ they’ve been raising for so long. They obviously have a plan—first the mountain villages, then the marketplaces, and then the county seat... but they won’t be slow. They’ll reach the city in a day or two at most... We have to get out.”

His master looked at Qin Fang. ”What’s your plan?”

”I’ve found a hidden spot outside the city that the mysterious powers are unlikely to discover. It has enough resources for us to hide there for three to five months without issue. My suggestion is... we contact Senior Brother and leave the city tonight. Then we lie low and see how things develop.”

His master nodded without hesitation. ”Alright. You wait here at home. I’ll go find your Senior Brother.”

In fact, as the city grew more chaotic, he and Zhou Xing had already been planning to flee and avoid the disaster.

Qin Fang quickly agreed, and his master rose and left.

Only Qin Fang and his master’s wife remained in the room.

Seeing his master’s wife looking so pale and lost, Qin Fang’s heart ached for her. He walked over, took her hand, and comforted her in a low voice, ”Don’t worry, ma’am. All of us, including Senior Sister... we’ll all be okay.”

Her expression eased slightly at his comforting words. She held Qin Fang’s hand tightly but said nothing.

About an hour later, he heard two voices outside. Qin Fang went to the door, peered out, and quickly opened it.

It was his master and senior brother.

His senior brother was clad in armor, his expression weary. He was even stained with blood... though it was clearly not his own.

”Senior Brother.”

Qin Fang greeted him.

Zhou Xing nodded, walked over, and said in a low voice, ”Your timing is perfect. Master and I were planning to leave the city in the next day or two and then find you in Wanshui.”

Just as Qin Fang was about to speak, his master cut in, ”We can talk once we’re out of the city.”

Qin Fang looked over and noticed that his master and senior brother were both carrying large bundles.

Once inside, his senior brother opened his bundle, revealing several sets of black clothes.

His senior brother lowered his voice. ”The city gates are under martial law. Even as the City Gate Guard, I no longer have the authority to open them. But it’s not a big problem... There are too many corpses in the city. If they pile up for too long, they could cause a plague, so they need people to move them out. I’m in charge of that detail. In a little while, you’ll all disguise yourselves as constables and come with me to transport bodies out of the city.”

Qin Fang nodded lightly.

’Actually, with his, his senior brother’s, and his master’s Cultivation, they could leave the city whenever they wanted.’

’The problem was bringing his master’s wife... She had no Cultivation. If something went wrong, it would be a disaster—a result Qin Fang couldn’t bear to see.’

’...Senior Brother’s plan was sound. Disguising themselves as officials would allow them to avoid direct conflict with the authorities and get his master’s wife out of the city relatively safely.’

His master’s wife knew these were desperate times, so she didn’t say much, simply taking the clothes her husband gave her and going into the other room.

Qin Fang took the opportunity to ask his senior brother, ”What are the authorities thinking? What’s their next move after causing this whole mess?”

The situation had deteriorated so drastically because the authorities had suddenly cracked down on Ganlu Hall, cutting off the supply of Qi Blood Pills and triggering the current chaos.

Qin Fang was curious about what was really going on with the authorities.

To his surprise, his senior brother’s expression turned grim. He lowered his voice and said, ”Shortly after the crackdown on Ganlu Hall, all hell broke loose at the Government Office... Many Anjin masters have disappeared one after another, their whereabouts unknown. When I ask the County Magistrate what the next step is, he won’t say... It’s like he’s on high alert against everyone, including me. Probably only Zhou Yue, the Captain of the True Martial Guard, knows what the County Magistrate is really thinking... They’ve been meeting frequently behind closed doors.”
