My Martial Arts Level Never Drops

Chapter 204: Chapter 124: Consumables

The drop was nearly twenty meters, and the soldiers’ eyes were dazzled by the flickering torches... Unless a large group of people approached at once, it was impossible to see the ground clearly.

A single person like Qin Fang was even more difficult to spot. Fifty or sixty meters from the city wall, Qin Fang suddenly accelerated!

He unleashed his full power. His legs were like silent springs, and in the blink of an eye, he crossed the fifty or sixty meters to the base of the city wall.

He looked up. The soldiers on the wall had no intention of looking down. Instead, they were turned toward the area with a larger crowd, observing the situation there.

The next moment, Qin Fang pushed off with his legs again. His body shot high into the air, and in an instant, his right hand silently gripped the edge of the Haiman, leaving him hanging from the wall.

He listened closely and could hear the slightly hurried breathing and heartbeat of a soldier on the Haiman.

He slowly pulled himself up and peered over the edge. A soldier was standing right beside him, but his attention was completely focused on the more crowded area, his head turned away.

As for the other soldiers, he could tell from their breathing that they were at least five meters away.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Qin Fang heaved himself up with his right arm, his body flying onto the wall.

The sudden movement instantly alerted the few soldiers nearby.

They shouted in alarm, ”Who’s there?!”

SHING! SHING! SHING! Blades were drawn from their sheaths.

But in that brief moment, Qin Fang’s figure moved like a phantom, crossing the five or six meters of the Haiman and landing inside True Martial County Town!

Only then did the soldiers react, roaring, ”Someone’s snuck into the city!”

The roar drew countless eyes, and the sound of footsteps erupted from all directions. The first soldier immediately scrambled to the other side of the wall, peering down carefully...

But all he could see was the pitch-black base of the wall... There was no sign of anyone.

”What’s going on?!”

A man who looked like an officer rushed over and barked the question.

The soldiers immediately replied that someone had infiltrated the city. He was extremely fast—a master!

The officer’s expression changed. He immediately turned to the man behind him and ordered, ”Go report to the General! An intruder has entered the city under cover of darkness. His cultivation is extremely high. It’s possible the mastermind has finally shown himself!”

The soldier acknowledged the order and sped off.

Naturally, Qin Fang was unaware of what had just transpired on the Haiman.

’Getting in was much easier than I expected.’

He immediately tried to get his bearings but found the area completely unfamiliar...

After all, he hadn’t been in the city for long. Though he had lived in True Martial County Town for some time, he’d spent most of it cooped up in his courtyard. ’How could I possibly know the layout of the city?’

Still, he had a rough idea of the direction of his master’s home.

These were special circumstances, so speed was his priority. He decided to take the most direct route, scaling walls and leaping across rooftops toward his master’s house.

As he vaulted into a courtyard, he heard the sound of weeping.

Startled, Qin Fang, who was perched on the courtyard wall, looked down. He saw several children and two elderly people kneeling beside a corpse.

The children were crying out for their mother.

The elders wept, murmuring, ”How could this happen... How could this happen...”

On the ground lay a woman’s corpse, its features as ghastly and twisted as a demon’s. The body was emaciated, her hair was snow-white, and a large bloodstain covered her chest.

”How are we supposed to go on... How are we supposed to go on...”

They wept helplessly.

Qin Fang paused in silence for a moment. Not wanting to disturb the family, he quickly departed.

Under the cover of night, Qin Fang moved like a silent, swift phantom.

As he continued on his way, crossing from house to house, he got a true sense of the chaos currently engulfing True Martial County Town...

There were dead everywhere. Almost every single household had lost someone.

The ones still alive were mostly children and the elderly, many of them crying helplessly or wailing in grief.

The streets were even more chaotic, littered with bodies. Nearly all the corpses looked the same: emaciated, withered like dead wood, their faces ravaged and gaunt...

He even saw the bodies of children, some only four or five, others seven or eight years old!

They too were emaciated, withered like dead wood, their faces ravaged and gaunt...

And after he came across some constables and soldiers searching door to door and overheard their conversations, Qin Fang finally understood...

...who they were looking for.

The sick!

’Ganlu Hall used the Qi Blood Pill to supplant Huichun Hall as the number one apothecary in True Martial. At the same time, rumors spread that Huichun Hall was connected to the demon scourge.’

’This move dealt a heavy blow to Huichun Hall’s influence in True Martial.’

’As a result, Huichun Hall was deserted afterward. Even the sick stopped coming...’

’And those who would have originally gone to Huichun Hall for treatment... where would they go instead?’

’The answer was obvious.’

’The vast majority of them would have chosen Ganlu Hall, which had suddenly become so renowned!’

’Just as I thought... The problem wasn’t just the Qi Blood Pill...’

’I’m afraid the medicines that Ganlu Hall used for treatment... must also be the problem!’

’These sick people were, without a doubt, nothing more than ’expendables’ for that Mysterious Power to sow chaos in True Martial!’

’...And of course, most of the sick were the physically weak—women and children!’

’That’s what led to this tragic, hellish scene.’

Qin Fang was powerless to do anything about it, but even with his temperament, the sight weighed heavily on him.

After traveling some distance, he stopped abruptly, almost without realizing it.

He had spotted a familiar building...

...Lan Gui Fang.

Seeing Lan Gui Fang, Qin Fang knew he had reached a familiar street. He now knew where his master’s house was.

He looked up. Lan Gui Fang was completely destroyed. Its pink curtains lay scattered on the ground amidst pools of blood and numerous bodies...

Lan Gui Fang had been full of courtesans.

’And courtesans... they’re more or less likely to be carrying some sort of illness, aren’t they?’
