Chapter 542: Chapter 542: Tsunade and Jiraiya

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: ???

Curly-haired Guy: Do I even need to ask? Just call out for Mom first!

Foul-Mouthed Mask Guy: Yeah, that’s right! Your Uncle agrees, kids who call for Mom first always get candy! Trust me, little devil! This is no big deal at all, just a very ordinary, common thing.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Common my ass, how could this be common! I thank you guys, but stop causing trouble for me here!

Saten Ruiko’s mouth twitched violently, her head full of black lines.

Doujin Artist: Oh, Ruiko dear. We’re giving you advice, how can that be called causing trouble?

Curly-haired Guy: Exactly, exactly! Everyone is kindly offering advice!

Amegakure Village’s Angel: I think you guys are kindly messing around.

Konan couldn’t help but complain, but she didn’t blame Gintoki and Eriri. She also found this kind of ”messing around” quite interesting. And it was harmless.

Shaking her head, Konan’s gaze shifted to the electronic screen in front of her. The image being played was the Hokage’s office.

Unlike Gerard, who now possessed divine power and could monitor any corner of the world anytime, anywhere, without conditions, Konan still needed to do so through monitoring bacteria and spirit particle transmission. After all, she wasn’t a god.

In the Hokage’s office, Jiraiya and Tsunade were engaged in a unique verbal sparring match. The topic was ”Should Ninjas Participate in Manual Labor.”

”I think you’re crazy, Jiraiya!” Tsunade’s mouth twitched fiercely, and she said in disbelief, ”The purpose of Ninjas is only to protect their homes and carry out various missions. There has never been a precedent for them to personally work in the fields or be construction workers!”

”But you can’t deny that Ninjas can be more productive when doing this kind of labor, can you?” Jiraiya sighed and said very seriously, ”And societal development and progress require this productivity to be put to use.”

”That’s impossible!” Tsunade shook her head and said stubbornly, ”A Ninja’s profession is Ninja, not farmer or worker! This kind of work should be done by professional farmers and workers!”

”No matter how professional farmers and workers are, they can’t compare to Ninjas,” Jiraiya argued tenaciously. ”Having Ninjas complete this social labor is a contribution to the entire society. If every country were like this, the risk of war would be greatly reduced!”

The reason for wars in the ninja world was the summation and conclusion of resource allocation, like cutting a cake – whoever won got the biggest slice. And Jiraiya discovered during his labor reform in Amegakure Village that Ninjas participating in social labor could very simply make this cake bigger.

If every country and ninja village invested some Ninjas in production and daily labor, it would be easy to achieve the goal of common prosperity. Isn’t that better than Tenten fighting wars?

”You’ve really gone foolish, Jiraiya,” Tsunade stood up from her chair, looking helplessly at her old classmate. ”No country would be willing to do this. And no Ninjas would be willing to become farmers or construction workers. I’ll act like I never heard this. Don’t bring it up again...”

*Snap.*

Jiraiya gently closed the door of the Hokage’s office, his face full of disappointment. He had initially thought his old classmate would support his proposal, but reality had slapped him hard.

He truly couldn’t understand why Tsunade was unwilling to choose this clear path to peace.

”Isn’t it very simple? Because of selfishness and profit,” Konan murmured to herself, looking at the extremely disappointed white-haired old man before her.

The logic was like everyone knew that war caused deaths and peaceful development could lead to wealth. But wars always came unexpectedly, while true peace seemed like Kyōka Suigetsu, within reach but unattainable.

In the final analysis, it was nothing more than selfishness and profit.

Facing such a situation, peaceful negotiations through words were completely useless. Only through armed struggle and unifying the entire ninja world could there be lasting peace. Only by abolishing the ruling power of a small privileged class and delegating all power to the people could there be lasting peace.

Jiraiya, who had only undergone labor reform for a few months, of course, didn’t understand the key point, which was why he hit a wall.

Konan knew this clearly, but she didn’t inform him before he left. Because some things require personal exploration to gain a true sense of them.

Without experiencing the harm of poisonous weeds, how can one understand the sweetness of flowers?

Her gaze swept over Jiraiya’s dejected back, and Konan’s eyes returned to the group chat. Compared to Jiraiya’s defeat, she was more concerned about the situation with her little boyfriend and Ruiko.

Gerard sent this photo, and the people in it were Misaka Mikoto’s mother, Misaka Misuzu.

She had the same light brown hair as Misaka Mikoto, wore a pink short-sleeved shirt and white pants, and looked about seven or eight parts similar to Misaka Mikoto.

However, compared to the youthful Mikoto, Misaka Misuzu exuded a strong mature aura. Not only that, but her ”big sister” physique also had a dominant aura.

Foul-Mouthed Mask Guy: Wow, damn! I’m in love, I feel the aura of love! My god, I’m in love!

Doujin Artist: Put away your unrestrained lecherous aura, this is a civilized chat group!

Machete Girl: Exactly! And she’s Ruiko’s mom. Are you being disrespectful to our Ruiko, don’t you want to work anymore?

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: ??? You guys, don’t talk nonsense!

Ruiko was already feeling very awkward, and the group members were teasing her so much that she felt a bit lost.

”So, this older brother is the one you like?” Misaka Misuzu suddenly asked, blinking. ”I can understand, he is indeed a handsome young man who can make people feel a different kind of charm.” She looked at Gerard, her eyes full of admiration.

Even she, who considered herself to have seen many handsome men, had to admit the perfection of the young man before her. This perfection was not only reflected in his appearance but also included his temperament.

Misaka Misuzu had never seen a young man with the mature, steady, noble, and confident demeanor that Gerard possessed. No, not just young people. Even adults rarely possessed it, and even then, only one or two aspects.

No wonder, no wonder this girl was willing to give up even her own little Mikoto.
