Chapter 512: Chapter 512: The Powerful History of Astral Magic

”What astral magic?” Ron asked without thinking.

”Don’t you remember? Professor Zickrein said it in our very first class!” Hermione looked at him in shock, loudly exclaiming, ”The astronomy class we’re taking now is based on the theories of astral magic!”

”Yes, Ron,” Harry nodded then. ”I heard it too.”

”What on earth do you do all day? You even zone out during such an important class?” Hermione chided him, frustrated.

”I don’t really think it’s important,” Ron mumbled, looking away, ”It’s all stuff I can’t understand anyway. How can the human body correspond to the universe?”

”The fact is, it really can, through magical paths and power!” Hermione argued, ”The magical circulation within the human body can itself simulate cosmic trajectories! That’s the wonder of astral magic. You really should listen well...”

”Oh, come on!” Ron’s mouth twitched. ”I’m really getting sick of this! We encounter and learn so much magic every day, why do we have to cram in astral magic too? And the theory is so profound, who can understand it?”

”I’ve already gotten the hang of it, Ron,” Hermione frowned.

”That’s because you’re a know-it-all, and we’re the ones falling behind!” Ron said with a hint of sarcasm. ”Are you satisfied with that answer?”

”The theory of astral magic is indeed profound, it makes one feel completely lost,” Harry agreed with a nod. ”For example, concentrating magical power to simulate a nebula inside the body... how is that even possible?”

”Exactly! And even if you do it, so what?” Ron rolled his eyes, ”Can you really defeat adult wizards at our age? Only a crazy fan like you, who’s already fallen for it, would believe that!”

”Ron!” Hermione yelled furiously, ”You’ve gone too far! You’re not just insulting me... you’re insulting Professor Zickrein! the professor is not a liar, you can’t just slander him like that!”

”Okay, I apologize,” Ron said, backing down immediately when he saw Hermione’s rage. ”But what I said has a basis. How can young wizards at our age be opponents to adult wizards? It simply doesn’t follow magical laws!”

”Laws aren’t the only rules!” Hermione sighed, her tone softening. ”If laws were absolute, why would there be someone like Professor Zickrein? He passed the Auror test two years ago, which many adult wizards can’t even pass!”

”But as far as we know, Professor Zickrein is the only exception, right?” Ron shook his head. ”Who else breaks these laws besides him?”

”And Professor Zickrein is an Obscurial,” Harry chimed in. ”Obscurials inherently have several times the amount of magic as normal people. They have the core of the Maledictus to provide magical conversion.”

”Then let’s wait and see, we’ll prove it through practice!” Hermione stopped trying to convince her two companions and decided to prove them wrong with actions.

”Fine,” Ron shrugged, feeling unconvinced.

He thought the idea of defeating adult wizards at their age was ridiculous, just like house-elves defeating adult wizards. It was simply impossible.

Why have wizards ruled the entire magical world for thousands of years, while humanoids like vampires, werewolves, and swamp witches can only hide in dark corners?

Is it just that they are outnumbered by human wizards?

Actually, no. In ancient times, these magical creatures often outnumbered wizards. And they were all immortal, living far longer than humans.

But why have these magical creatures almost disappeared by modern times? In the entire magical world, only in Romania are there rumors of some vampires existing?

It’s because they were subjected to large-scale extermination by wizards, almost a carpet-like annihilation. Their proud racial talents were no match for the powerful magic created by wizards.

This is an absolute gap in power; wizards themselves are the strongest in this world.

Ron’s fear of house-elves starting a war wasn’t about wizards facing extinction. It was about them, the young wizards, being caught in the crossfire. Getting involved would be a disaster.

Moreover, the wars and disasters described in books instinctively made him disgusted by war.

While the three of them were discussing privately, Fudge’s speech on stage was finally coming to an end.

As expected, the Minister of Magic couldn’t resist publicly criticizing Dumbledore again, saying that his actions during the house-elf capture operation were a disgrace to wizards.

This caused many teachers and students to glare angrily at Fudge. Only a very small number of students, like Malfoy, applauded enthusiastically.

In their opinion, Fudge’s clear stance was a signal. This signal indicated that Dumbledore’s era had ended! Without Dumbledore’s influence, the pure-blood faction could finally rise.

”Damn it, just damn it!” Ron growled in a low voice, filled with anger. ”How dare he, how dare he say that! Dumbledore disgraced wizards? Without Dumbledore, this world would have been ruled by the Dark Lord long ago!”

”Not just the Dark Lord, Dumbledore also stopped the previous Dark Lord, Grindelwald,” Harry added.

”But what Fudge is saying now is downplaying that fact,” Hermione said after a moment of silence. ”What he needs now is not to mention Dumbledore’s achievements, but to completely suppress his reputation.”

”That damn politician, he doesn’t deserve it!” Ron fumed.

”It’s not about deserving it or not, it’s about him being in power now,” Hermione sighed. ”He can set the entire policy direction, but we can’t. We can only watch things get worse and worse...”

”So, we need to speed things up too,” Harry sighed. ”Let’s meet in the common room tonight.”
