THE GOD EATER

No divine being, who had walked out from a mountain of corpses to stand above mortals, enjoyed having someone above them, bossing them around. Be it disgruntlement or resentment, they had a lot of negative feelings and they were all directed at Loki.

However, a few of them were even excited about going to a battlefield. These were the ones who just wanted to fight and kill people and were the minority. But regardless of their feelings, they all wanted to survive the ordeal and be alive after a hundred years.

Their destination was a medium world controlled by a Gemini youngling called Bush Boy. Bush Boy had started with a small world, but had been able to upgrade it to a medium world in 29 days, less than a month since he planted the world. This kind of progress was a rarity among the Gemini younglings.

Apparently, Bush Boy was one of the talented Gemini younglings. Titan had also mentioned that Bush Boy was high on the leaderboard.

These two reasons were why Titan employed Loki at a great expense to take down one of Bush Boy’s worlds. Titan didn’t want Bush Boy to grow stronger and become the first Mountain Lord among the Gemini younglings.

As usual, when he arrived at the destination, Loki found it shielded. A transparent shield covered the whole world.

At a glance, the world looked vulnerable. But once it was attacked, the shield would stop being transparent and turn into a glass shield that would block the attack.

Loki had some experience with the shield, as he had been stomped by it before. As he looked at it now, he remembered what Titan had said.

”This shield is pretty common for worlds to have where I come from. It is much rarer to find a world without one because such worlds don’t last long. Once it is sensed that a world is without a shield, it will be sieged and torn apart.”

”Shields are especially important in healthy Domains with a lot of Natural Energy and a lot of worlds. After all, the more worlds you have in a Domain, the more people get to become Dao Lords and the higher the competition.”

”In a healthy and prosperous Domain, there can be up to a million Dao Lords. With that kind of number watching from the sky, can you imagine what would happen once weakness was sensed in a world?”

When he was asked that question, the image of a pack of wolves tearing at a rabbit appeared in his mind. The image made him chuckle now that he thought about it.

But he quickly became serious and said, ”According to the instructions, this shield doesn’t have a weakness. But this doesn’t mean it is impossible to bring down.”

”It doesn’t have a weakness, but a weakness can be created for it. Once a weakness has been created, then the world can be made to fall from within.”

As he spoke, he took out a ball. It was a shiny blue ball that looked like a precious pearl.

-Name: World Pump

-Type: Utility Artifact

-Effect: Excavate the value of a world.

-Durability: 100%

After examining it, he infused it with his lifespan to activate it. The World Pump began to glow. It glowed for a while before stretching into a flat circle.

After a few seconds of infusion, the blue sphere had expanded into a blue disc about a hundred meters across. Loki decided that this was good enough and stopped infusing his lifespan.

He waved his hand and dropped the black spheres that were trailing behind him onto the blue disc. There were 147 black spheres in total. When he deactivated the Devouring Ability, the black spheres shattered, revealing 147 divine beings.

Of these 147 divine beings, 25 were Rank 8, which was an increase of 4 from the previous 21. The remaining 122 divine beings were 45 Rank 7, while 77 were Rank 6. All of them had at least 2 Divine Positions.

When he first got them, 21 were Rank 8, 43 were Rank 7, and 83 were Rank 6. More than half of the Rank 6 also possessed one Divine Position. So it can be said that he had changed their lives.

But he wasn’t satisfied with this much change. When he thought of what he had planned for them, he chuckled and said, ”Oh, the joys I have prepared.”

Then he said, ”Since everyone is here, let us begin.”

At that moment, he resumed infusing the World Pump with lifespan. He stood on the blue disc, so lifespan entered the World Pump through the soles of his feet.

As more lifespan entered it, the World Pump grew bigger and bigger. But the World Pump didn’t extend outwards indefinitely. After it reached a diameter of 110 meters, its edges rose, turning it into a bowl.

The bowl got bigger for a while longer. Then the edges curved inward until they met at the center and fused, turning the World Pump into one large sphere.

From the outside, the sphere looked like a blue pearl. It was identical in appearance to what Loki had in his hand before he began infusing it with lifespan. It was just bigger.

Within the blue pearl, a white pillar of light appeared from the north and south poles, meeting at the center of the sphere. At the point they met, a white gem appeared.

Immediately, Loki felt a connection to the white gem. He wasn’t surprised, as he had built it with his lifespan.

With a single thought, he took control of the blue pearl through the white gem and steered the blue pearl closer to the world. In the void between worlds, the giant blue pearl sped up, approaching the world with the intent to collide with it.

Just as the giant pearl struck the surface of the world, a glass shield appeared to block the collision. But instead of being repelled, the blue pearl attached itself to the glass shield.
