Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1082: Kyle

Kyle released a small snort when he heard the dick and ball comment.

”I presume you donʼt want to get into too much detail?” Kyle asked.

”Where would be the fun in that?” the shadow asked. ”I want you to see the true picture for yourself. I want you to see the good and the bad of all sides with your own eyes and make your own decision.”

”The conflict youʼre involved with has four sides, and none of them are the right or wrong one. You have to decide what the right side is, but you can also decide that none of them are right and make a fifth side.”

The shadow chuckled. ”But the fifth side will be just like the other four sides, neither right nor wrong. In fact, the concept of right and wrong doesnʼt exist in objective reality. 100% of all existences, including yourself, could say that what youʼve done is wrong, but it objectively isnʼt. After all, if it were objectively wrong...”

”It wouldnʼt have happened.”

Kyle thought about the shadowʼs words. He felt like he understood something, but he also felt like he didnʼt understand anything. It was like he understood the rules of an imaginary game he had created in his own head.

Kyle looked at the Gate of Death.

In the end, nothing had changed. Objective reality would take its course.

”Are you one of the sides?” Kyle asked.
”Yes and no,” the shadow answered. ”Iʼm just an onlooker, which means Iʼm not getting involved in the conflict. However, knowing of something and not interacting with it can also be seen as taking a side. Inaction is an action. Not voting in an election is also voting. If everyone but one person refuses to vote, one party will win with 100% of the votes. By not doing anything, the results have changed drastically.”

Kyle remained silent for a while as he looked at the Gate of Death.

His conversation with the shadow had given him some insights, but none of them changed reality. In the end, he would still enter the Gate of Death.

ʼBut it doesnʼt feel as hopeless anymore,ʼ Kyle thought. ʼI guess thatʼs also a way to cope with bad situations. Just relativize and abstract everything until it loses all impact and meaning.ʼ

ʼThe bad loses its impact, but the same thing could also happen to the good. If nothing has meaning, existence has no meaning. Itʼs a power, but it can also be a danger. I guess you could call it apathy.ʼ

Kyle sighed. ʼI donʼt like it. Feels a bit like Iʼm running away from something. Reminds me of my life on Earth.ʼ

Kyleʼs eyes narrowed as he looked at the Gate of Death. ʼBut why canʼt I run away sometimes?ʼ

ʼI could, but...ʼ

ʼIʼm not sure if I can come back if I get too comfortable with it.ʼ

ʼFine, donʼt use it then! Anyway, enough running! Death calls!ʼ

Kyle pulled his hammer over his shoulders. ”That was a nice conversation, but I have to get going.”

”You may not exist for much longer, but a version of you will,” the shadow said. ”Wish him all the best.”

Kyle snorted. ”I will. I hope he can find a way to kill the Overseer and Swamp Dragon.”

”Maybe,” the shadow said. ”I havenʼt looked that far. Anyway, it was nice meeting this version of you, Kyle.”

”Same to you, mysterious shadow person,” Kyle answered.

The shadow chuckled, and Kyle walked forward.

He approached the Gate of Death slowly but without hesitation.

His right leg stepped into the gate, and without waiting, Kyle took another step forward.

The shadow saw Kyle entering the Gate of Death cleanly. His steps hadnʼt faltered a single moment. It was almost like he was just walking through the most mundane door in existence.

The Gate of Death didnʼt change from an outsiderʼs perspective, but things were very different inside.

After entering, Kyle found himself in black nothingness. He could immediately tell that there was no Energy.

ʼThereʼs not as much Death in here as I would have expected,ʼ Kyle thought. ʼItʼs just enough to slowly consume my existence.ʼ

ʼAsphyxiation, huh?ʼ Kyle thought as he looked up with a helpless expression. ʼReminds me of the Refinements. Except, this time, it will be real. I will actually die of Seeker asphyxiation.ʼ

ʼIʼm just supposed to wait for my death, right? As long as Iʼm alive, I canʼt comprehend the Major Law of Death.ʼ

ʼBit boring to wait for my death. Might as well do the one thing I always do.ʼ

Kyle lifted his hammer and swung it. The Death in the surroundings flowed around in chaotic storms with every swing.

ʼIt acts so differently. Just like Energy, Death is moving around, but it moves in an unnatural way.ʼ

Kyle swung again, and Death moved once more.

He kept swinging, and soon enough, the feeling of asphyxiation set in. Kyle subconsciously tried to absorb more Energy, but there was no Energy to absorb.

Since he had undergone his Fusion, he didnʼt have a Center anymore. Instead of his Center losing Energy, Kyleʼs existence just became less dense.

Naturally, Kyleʼs hammer was also losing density. His hammer was one of his Avatars, which meant it was part of his existence. Both of them were affected equally.

Kyle swung his hammer repeatedly, and soon enough, he lost himself. He even forgot that he was dying.

A smile appeared on Kyleʼs face as he swung his hammer with joy. He had always enjoyed swinging it, and it had never stopped being enjoyable.

Time passed, and Kyleʼs existence kept vanishing. At some point, he and his hammer started becoming transparent.

Kyle could feel the end coming, but instead of feeling dread and regret, he just felt hope.

ʼI want you to succeed.ʼ

ʼI want you to be happy.ʼ

ʼI donʼt want you to be alone.ʼ

ʼI want you to be free.ʼ

ʼI want you to feel how I feel when I swing my hammer.ʼ

Kyle had the strength for one last swing, and he wanted to make it the best swing he had ever done.

A perfect stance.

Full power.

No constraints.

True freedom.

The carefreeness of death.

A last shining light.

Kyle swung.

He smiled.

The hammer flew in the air.

ʼI understand.ʼ

Kyle was gone.

The blackness transformed.

Death retreated.

The hammer was almost as frail as mortal iron as it spun in the air.

Slowly, the spinning hammer started to fall downwards.

The blackness retreated, and the sky of Ayuvar replaced it. The Gate of Death had been in the Elemental Dimension, but the hammer reappeared in the Main Dimension.

It spun as it kept falling.

Then, it hit the ground, the edge of its flat side slightly digging into the ground.

Silence.

The wind flowed around the black hammer peacefully as it reflected the light of Ayuvar.

The light of dawn, midday, dusk, or of the stars, it didnʼt matter.

The hammer reflected all light.

A new beginning, the climax, the ending, or nothingness. All light was within the hammer.

It just stayed there...

Silently.

And if the world didnʼt act upon it, it wouldnʼt act. After all...

It had as much of a will as the ground below it.
