Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1079: The Backup Plan

Kyle stood in a random spot in the Elemental Dimension. Swamp Dragonʼs plan had failed. In a way, he was glad that Swamp Dragonʼs plan had failed. The more he failed, the better. Yet, he also wished that Swamp Dragonʼs plan had succeeded. After all...

The others had decided to put their lives in his hands.

ʼI donʼt want any more sacrifices,ʼ he thought.

Kyle remembered the time he had almost died to the Investigator of the Contrast Empire. Back then, he had thought that his life was over, and in these last moments, he had only had one regret.

He didnʼt want to be alone. He wanted to spend more time with his friends.

In Ayuvar, he had found a home. He had found a community. Humanity had been united against the Abyss. Kyle had helped Humanity on the frontlines, and Humanity had reciprocated. They had seen what he had done for them and had paid him back.

He still remembered all of the Tribe and Sect Members who had sacrificed their valuable Military Merits to help him. He had helped them, and they had helped him.

With his True Sin Aura, he had expected that nobody would truly accept him. At that point, his True Sin Aura had been an ever-present part of him. It had been part of his identity. He hadnʼt believed that anyone would accept this part of his identity.

But Humanity did. Humanity had embraced this part of his identity.

He remembered the group of people who had sworn brutal oaths just because they believed in Kyle.
He remembered Lara and Manny. Both of them had prioritized Kyle above themselves.

Kyle released a shaky sigh.

ʼEveryoneʼs gone. My home is gone. My love is gone. My friend is gone.ʼ

Kyle looked at his Karmic Lines.

There were countless tiny and inconsequential Karmic Lines and three massive ones.

He remembered the way his Karmic Lines had looked when he had been part of Humanity. There had been billions of green Karmic Lines.

Now, there were three, and one of them led to someone Kyle despised, which meant he actually only had two. He wasnʼt sure about Fierce Breaker, but he wouldnʼt jump to conclusions just yet.

Kyle focused on the Karmic Line leading to Sebastian.

This was the only Karmic Line that was truly untainted. Sebastian was Kyleʼs best friend, and he didnʼt want to lose him as well. If he also died...

Kyle didnʼt want to think about it.

While Kyle looked at his Karmic Lines, Sebastian also looked at the Karmic Line connecting him with Kyle.

The two of them didnʼt know that they were both looking at the same Karmic Line right now.

Swamp Dragon kept talking.

An expression of mild disdain appeared on the Overseerʼs face as she listened to him. She couldnʼt understand how any of his companions still believed in him.

”And you think that will work?” the Overseer asked.

”Thereʼs a chance that it will work immediately,” Swamp Dragon said, ”but thereʼs also a chance that we might need to adapt to our circumstances and improvise. Nothing like that has ever been done before. It should theoretically work, but I canʼt be sure.”

The Overseer looked at Fierce Breaker. ”You agree?”

Fierce Breaker nodded. ”Desperate times call for desperate measures.”

The Overseerʼs eyes closed, and she focused on a lonely Major Lightning Elemental in the Elemental Dimension.

”Fine,” the Overseer said. ”If this doesnʼt work, thereʼs no reason to keep you alive.”

”It will work,” Swamp Dragon said.

The Overseer only snorted.

Swamp Dragon glanced at Fierce Breaker, who remembered the thing Swamp Dragon had taught him many years ago.

An oppressive wave of Energy washed over Sebastianʼs Elemental.

When Sebastian felt the wave of Energy, his insides shook.

The signal...

He didnʼt want to do it. Kyle was his boy! He didnʼt want to do this to him!

He remembered Swamp Dragonʼs words.

”What other choice do we have? Itʼs either him or an entire world. Kyle is the only one who can save the world if my plan fails. Nobody will ever get out, including him. The gap is too vast. We canʼt risk everything for just one person!”

”Think about this deeply and thoroughly. If Kyle knew about this, would he make the same choice?”

Sebastian looked at the Karmic Line between him and Kyle with terrified eyes. He didnʼt want to do it...

But what other choice did they have?!

Sebastian gritted his teeth as his shaking arm took hold of the Karmic Line. At the same time, he remembered the technique Swamp Dragon had taught him.

ʼIʼm so sorry, Kyle!ʼ

ʼIʼm sorry!ʼ

Sebastian closed his eyes and released a wave of Energy.

”He is also ready,” the Overseer said as she sensed the wave.

Fierce Breaker and Swamp Dragon looked at each other before they grabbed one of their Karmic Lines.

”Weʼre ready,” Swamp Dragon said.

The Overseer narrowed her eyes.

BOOOOM!

An apocalyptic wave of Energy spread across the Elemental Dimension. Countless Elementals were dispersed by the wave.

BANG!

Kyleʼs Elemental was suddenly blown back. The force behind the wave was almost impossible to resist.

Kyleʼs Elemental was on the brink of being dispersed, but since it had eight times the amount of Energy a normal Peak Spirit Lord Elemental had, it barely managed to stay in one piece.

ʼWhatʼs going on?!ʼ Kyle thought in horror.

ʼIʼm sorry, Kyle,ʼ Sebastian thought as the wave harmlessly passed over him.

His insights gathered, and in the next moment...

CRRRK!

He tore the Karmic Line into pieces. The backlash arrived immediately, but Sebastian didnʼt care.

BANG!

Kyleʼs mind stopped working as he saw the Karmic Line connecting him with Sebastian being destroyed.

...

ʼWhat?ʼ

The wave of Energy...

Sebastian couldnʼt have survived it.

ʼBut...ʼ

Terror and hatred washed over Kyleʼs existence. He knew that the Overseer wouldnʼt just randomly destroy all Major Elementals and weaker. This could only be the doing of one person.

ʼSWAMP DRAGON!ʼ

BANG!

Kyle saw the Karmic Line between him and Fierce Breaker getting cut.

ʼNo!ʼ

ʼNo!ʼ

Only a single Karmic Line remained...

The one between him and Swamp Dragon.

The only Karmic Line, and its presence filled Kyle with nothing but hatred.

ʼSwamp Dragon!ʼ

ʼSWAMP DRAGON!ʼ

BANG!

The last Karmic Line was severed, and Kyle watched it vanish in horror.

Swamp Dragon had also died.

Kyle didnʼt know what he should think.

He wanted Swamp Dragon dead. There was no doubt about it, but as he saw his last Karmic Line vanishing, he just felt... strange.

It was believable that Sebastian and Fierce Breaker could die, but Swamp Dragon?

Did he miscalculate?

Sebastian and Fierce Breaker didnʼt know enough about Karmic Luck to destroy their own Karmic Lines, but Swamp Dragon might know enough.

According to all evidence, all three of them had died.

ʼBut I donʼt believe it,ʼ Kyle thought. ʼI just donʼt believe it.ʼ

ʼBut then, that means...ʼ

ʼSebastian cut his own Karmic Line, fully knowing what message this would send.ʼ

ʼWhy?ʼ

Then, Kyle realized what this was about.

ʼYou want me to create another Gate of Death, but this time...ʼ

ʼYou want me to enter.ʼ
