Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1072: The Bottom

The Overseer tried once again to use a ball of False Death on the World Wall, but yet again, she pulled back.

Her hands shook as she glared at the World Wall with gritted teeth and terrified eyes.

ʼJust do it! Youʼve spent almost 100,000 years on this! Youʼve learned nothing new within the last 20,000 years! Itʼs clear that this is as good as itʼs going to get!ʼ

Her hand moved the ball of False Death forward, but moments later, she violently pulled it back.

ʼYouʼre so close!ʼ

ʼYou know how this works!ʼ

ʼYou know what you have to do!ʼ

ʼSo what if you donʼt know what you have to do afterward?! You only get one shot, but if you never take that shot, you have zero shots!ʼ

ʼJust one shot!ʼ

ʼDo you want to remain in this cage forever?!ʼ
ʼThere is an entire world out there!ʼ

ʼYour journey isnʼt over!ʼ

ʼShow some guts and do it!ʼ

She pushed forward, but her arm shook violently just before it touched the World Wall.

Feelings of deep terror rose inside her.

She was going to die!

She didnʼt want to die!

But she had to risk it!

The arm went back and forth.

ʼPlease, just do it. Just do it! Stop being so indecisive! Why are you so hesitant?! Which powerful being hasnʼt risked their life?!ʼ

Fear was battling conviction.

Courage was battling instincts.

Raw and unending desire was battling common sense.

Frustration was battling logic.

Hope was battling hopelessness.

A distorted expression of hatred was tainted by fearful eyes.

Conviction was betrayed by shaky hands.

ʼIf you donʼt do this, you will forever remain here!ʼ

ʼYou will never attain your freedom if you donʼt act now!ʼ

ʼYou must do it!ʼ

ʼTake the shot!ʼ

ʼ0.001% is higher than 0%!ʼ

ʼYouʼve waited for so long!ʼ

She pulled her entire body back as a huge ball of False Death appeared on her right fist.

ʼItʼs now or never!ʼ

ʼAll or nothing!ʼ

ʼDeath or freedom!ʼ

She punched forward, the ball of False Death perfectly synchronized with the fluctuations of the World Wall.

ʼYou wonʼt die!ʼ

BANG!

The fist hit the World Wall, shaking it. For just a moment, its color distorted.

Her fist remained on the World Wall.

There was no False Death on it.

Her other fist lightly hit the World Wall before she fell forward.

ʼI canʼt.ʼ

She fell to her knees, her fists pressing against the World Wall.

ʼI... I... I canʼt.ʼ

Gritted teeth and clenched fists were joined by solitary drops of water, falling from the Overseerʼs face.

ʼWhy canʼt I do it?ʼ

ʼWhy do I refuse to risk my life?!ʼ

ʼWhy canʼt I be stronger?ʼ

ʼIʼm a coward.ʼ

ʼIʼm a prisoner.ʼ

ʼIʼm weak.ʼ

The Overseer remained silent.

ʼA billion years of stagnation.ʼ

ʼA billion years of wasted efforts.ʼ

ʼA billion years of nothing.ʼ

ʼA life wasted.ʼ

ʼI just want to get out.ʼ

ʼI just want to see the outside.ʼ

ʼBut Iʼm a beast. Iʼm not supposed to ascend.ʼ

ʼIʼm supposed to die so that humans become stronger. But why should I accept that fate? I donʼt want to die. I donʼt want to be someone elseʼs opportunity!ʼ

ʼI can be just as good as humans! I can also comprehend Laws! I can also fuse my Aspects! Even if I couldnʼt, I would still find a way to rival them!ʼ

ʼIʼm not worse than humans! Iʼm not worth less than them!ʼ

The Overseer weakly collapsed onto her knees as she looked downward with an empty expression.

ʼBut thatʼs not my choice.ʼ

ʼI donʼt get to determine value in this world. The world has deemed me worthless. I donʼt believe I am useless, but...ʼ

More tears streamed down her face.

ʼWhy am I disagreeing with reality?ʼ

ʼIʼve tried fighting reality for so long.ʼ

ʼIʼve tried everything.ʼ

ʼBut nothingʼs changed.ʼ

Her face turned to look up at the sky.

ʼI canʼt escape.ʼ

ʼI canʼt fight fate anymore.ʼ

ʼI...ʼ

She looked down.

ʼIʼm sorry.ʼ

ʼIʼm sorry for my weakness.ʼ

The Overseer covered her face with her hands as the inevitable reality of her situation finally set in.

It was over.

There was no way out.

She was stuck here.

Forever.

And ever.

And ever.

Forever.

-

Forever.

A fluctuation spread across the world.

The world didnʼt notice.

Only a select few beings noticed.

Fierce Breaker looked towards the east.

ʼDid I sense something just now?ʼ he thought as he focused on the Energy fluctuations around him. ʼNot sure. Iʼm not feeling anything right now. Did I just imagine it?ʼ

In the Elemental Dimension, Kyle stopped swinging his hammer and looked towards the east.

ʼWhat was that?ʼ he thought in surprise. ʼI swear, for just a moment, I felt like there was something! It felt... wrong. It felt like itʼs not supposed to exist.ʼ

ʼDeath?ʼ

Swamp Dragon watched as a disembodied arm turned into black dust.

ʼItʼs time,ʼ he thought with narrowed eyes.

ʼYour death has come.ʼ

Near the eastern World Wall, the Overseer looked towards the north.

She could sense it.

It was so clear!

But what was it?

She could sense the world around it, but she couldnʼt sense it directly.

She teleported to the location, and when she arrived, her eyes widened in shock and disbelief.

She still couldnʼt sense it with her Divine Consciousness, but she could see it with her eyes.

A golden-black gate, in the middle of nowhere.

The insides of the gate were pure black, and she couldnʼt sense anything inside of it. When her Divine Consciousness entered the gate, she felt it vanish. She felt like there was a different world inside of it, but it felt like a bottomless pit. Her perception entered, but it never came out.

ʼThis canʼt be,ʼ she thought. Deep terror rose inside of her.

Yet, this terror wasnʼt created by the gate. The terror she felt came from hope.

She had just lost all hope, but now, she wanted to feel hope again. She was afraid of feeling hope. She was afraid of her hope being destroyed once again.

She knew what this gate represented.

It was the Gate of Death.

The only way to comprehend the Major Law of Death, and the Major Law of Death granted mastery over true Death.

With the Major Law of Death, she could conjure real Death, and real Death had a real shot at destroying the World Wall!

ʼBut I thought it was impossible to comprehend it! This guy said that entering a Gate of Death is almost impossible!ʼ

ʼBut itʼs here! The Gate of Death is here! Itʼs right in front of me!ʼ

Burning hope filled her existence, which quickly turned into unending conviction.

She knew the danger.

To comprehend the Minor Law of Death, one had to experience the death of a world. This was a steep price to pay to comprehend one Law.

The price to comprehend the Major Law of Death was even higher. It asked for the one thing that many people considered even more valuable than a world.

Oneʼs life.

Not the life of just an Avatar.

Oneʼs entire life.

To comprehend Death, one had to experience death.

To comprehend the antithesis to Energy, one had to experience the complete destruction of Energy.

Yet, the Overseer was made of Energy. If she turned into Death, it would be like a human turning into nothingness. They would comprehend what they needed, but they would be nothing.

Pure Death couldnʼt support life. Only Energy supported life. There were lifeforms that had a mix of Death and Energy, but there were no lifeforms that were made of pure Death.

Comprehending the Major Law of Death represented solving an unsolvable riddle.

The Overseer knew all of these things.

And yet...

She stepped forward with conviction.

She would find a way!

She would find a way to comprehend the Major Law of Death, and she would also find a way to survive!

She knew the odds were against her.

She knew that she couldnʼt logically win.

But she believed!

She would succeed!

There were cases in which beings survived entering the Gate of Death!

It was not impossible!

The Overseer stepped towards the Gate of Death.

Far away, Swamp Dragon looked towards the east.

ʼThereʼs no way you can resist the pull of the Gate of Death. If you were to refuse, you wouldnʼt be you.ʼ

ʼAnd thereʼs no way youʼre going to survive.ʼ

ʼItʼs over. Youʼve lost.ʼ

ʼWe donʼt need to kill you.ʼ

ʼYou will voluntarily and happily kill yourself.ʼ
