Chapter 705 Very Subtle Scheme

ʼHuh, that went better than expected,ʼ Kyle thought.

However, Long Transformationʼs face turned white when she heard the Countessʼ words.

Kyle didnʼt notice it since he wasnʼt very experienced when it came to politics and scheming, but Long Transformation noticed the hidden scheme in the Countessʼ words.

On the surface, it sounded like she had gracefully accepted her defeat, but that wasnʼt what she was actually trying to do.

She could have kept her Planet System and Long Transformation, who was a very talented individual, without breaking any rules.

After all, it wasnʼt her fault that Kyle had rebelled.

Instead, she had given up on the Planet System and the talented Seeker very quickly.

It was almost like she wanted to hand these things to the Array of Stars.

An experienced person who saw this might become suspicious.

There had to be a deeper scheme behind this.

So, they would look at Kyle and Long Transformation.

Did the opponent give up something valuable to gain something even more valuable?

If so, what was the thing that was even more valuable?

A spy, or more precisely, two spies.

What if Kyle were a spy sent by the Contrast Empire?

Assuming he was a spy, Kyle was supposed to stay hidden, but suddenly refusing such an important battle would seem suspicious, which was why he was forced to accept.

As a spy, Kyle wouldnʼt just keel over and die because his employer told him to do so. No, he would just run with it and give his all in the battle.

If he lost, the Contrast Empire would gain a valuable Planet System.

If he won, he could just give up, which would end in two possible results.

One, the Contrast Empire would accept the draw and keep their Seeker and Planet System.

Two, the Contrast Empire could use Kyleʼs obvious positive disposition towards Long Transformation to get another spy into the ranks of the Array of Stars.

On the surface, it would seem like Long Transformation had been abandoned, which meant that the Array of Stars could easily recruit her. If they didnʼt do so, the Array of Stars would most likely anger Kyle.

Sure, he was only a Primal, but he was obviously a very talented one.

With all of these things considered, it would be a safe bet that Long Transformation would be recruited by the Array of Stars.

Naturally, there would be no bad blood between the Contrast Empire and the two Seekers since everything had been planned.

They would still be loyal to the Contrast Empire, but the Array of Stars would believe that they were loyal to them since it looked like Long Transformation had been abandoned.

One Planet System in exchange for strengthening the position of an already existing spy while also inserting a second spy.

Most people wouldnʼt even notice this hidden scheme, but the Countess knew that the Chief Overseer was smart.

She bet on the fact that he would notice, which would make him suspicious of Kyle.

In that case, he might decide to get rid of Long Transformation while being more careful around Kyle, which would sour their relationship.

In short, the Countess had exchanged a talented Seeker and a Planet System to kill Kyle over the long term.

Long Transformation noticed all of these things.

Kyle didnʼt.

”Then, I wonʼt stand on ceremony,” the Chief Overseer said.

”According to the rules, our Seekerʼs life is now in your hands,” the Countess said.

The Chief Overseer just nodded.

The Countess also nodded and teleported away, but before she left, she sent a quick glance towards Kyle, further casting suspicion on him.

Now, only the Chief Overseer, Long Transformation, and Kyle were left.

The Chief Overseer glanced at Kyle, who just scratched the back of his head, happy that everything went so well.

Then, he looked at Long Transformation.

It wasnʼt hard for him to see what Long Transformation thought.

Finally, the Chief Overseer looked back at Kyle. ”I do not condone your actions, but the results were satisfactory. Iʼm not one to micro-manage. As long as your results keep being good, you can choose your own actions and methods.”

Kyle just smiled sheepishly as he scratched the back of his head. ”Yeah, sorry, not sorry. You know?”

The Chief Overseer just shook his head before looking at the nervous Long Transformation.

”That was a nasty scheme,” he commented. ”I can understand why youʼre nervous.”

Long Transformation just looked at the Chief Overseer nervously.

”Luckily for us, there is no chance that Meteor Hammer could be a spy sent by the Contrast Empire,” he said.

”Spy? What?” Kyle asked in confusion.

Long Transformation looked with surprise at the Chief Overseer. ”Why are you so sure?”

The Chief Overseer glanced at Kyle. ”Your past is yours to share.”

”My past?” Kyle asked. ”You mean the Parasite thing?”

Long Transformationʼs eyes widened.

Parasite?!

The Cult of Final Fate?!

Long Transformationʼs mind quickly shot through thousands of scenarios, and she realized why it was basically impossible for Kyle to be a spy sent by the Contrast Empire.

Since it was confirmed that Kyle had once been a Parasite, it meant that he must have been a member of the Cult of Final Fate.

This meant that the Contrast Empire must have sent Kyle to the Cult before he was sent to the Array of Stars, which was basically impossible, would take way too much effort, and would not be worth the risk.

Kyle might be a spy, but if he were one, he wouldnʼt be one for the Contrast Empire but one for the Cult of Final Fate.

After hearing about this fact, Long Transformation looked at Kyle with uncertainty.

Right, why was he even in the Supreme World to begin with? Wasnʼt he supposed to be an Overseer for thousands of years before entering a Secondary World?

Why was he even here?

Well, if he had been recruited by the Cult of Final Fate, it would explain things.

”Long Transformation,” the Chief Overseer said.

Long Transformation looked back.

”Your Momentum was mostly destroyed by Meteor Hammer,” the Chief Overseer said. ”Such a setback is hard to stomach. What are your plans?”

Long Transformation was a bit nervous. After all, her life was in the Chief Overseerʼs hands.

Due to the agreement, he could kill her without losing any Karmic Luck.

”Itʼs a setback,” she said, ”but not the first one. Increasing my Momentum isnʼt difficult, just risky. Battling for my life doesnʼt take a long time, but my life may end at any moment.”

”Has Meteor Hammer shared my past with you?” she asked.

The Chief Overseer nodded.

”Then, you know how old I am already,” she said. ”Iʼve spent far too much time as a Transcendent. It feels like I have been a Primal for only 20 years since I am already so old.”

”I donʼt want to fill my life with meaningless and endless stagnation. I want to burn bright like a shooting star.”

”Everything or nothing,” she said with narrowed eyes.

”Either I become a Unique Primal…”

”Or I die.”
