Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1813: Chapter 1812: I Was Framed

The man slowly opened his eyes from unconsciousness, raised a hand to touch his head, and painfully climbed up from the ground.

”Are you okay?” Qin Jian asked him.

The man couldn’t even respond, struggling to get up and staggered as if to run.

”Stop!” At that moment, a group of people ran over from afar, wielding clubs and machetes, charging forward.

The man glanced back, his face turning pale instantly.

These people came after him; now he’d hit his head, seeing only blood before his eyes, dizzy and unable to run.

But if he didn’t run, he might well die under those knives and sticks.

”Chasing after you?” Qin Jian squinted his eyes and asked as he observed the mob rushing towards them.

The man looked at him, his gaze falling onto Qin Jian’s military uniform, a glimmer of hope arising in his previously lifeless eyes, grasping Qin Jian’s arm tightly and pleading with hope: ”Save me! Save me!”

”Why are they trying to kill you?” Qin Jian asked.

”Don’t ask, save me!”

Qin Jian thought briefly, then tilted his head slightly to him: ”Hide to the side!”

The man nodded, about to open the car door to get in, but Qin Jian grabbed his wrist: ”Don’t move. Just wait here!”

”If I stay here, they’ll hack me to death!” The man panicked.

”I promise you won’t die.” Qin Jian insisted the man stay with him. Inside the car were his wife and children; he couldn’t allow a stranger to get in.

He couldn’t put his family in danger!

”Alright then!” The man agreed anxiously.

The people wielding knives and clubs arrived, the leader pointed at the man’s nose and roared: ”Huizi! You’re running again? Let’s see if I can’t kill you!”

This man, called Huizi, shrank his body, dared not speak, trembled, and tightly clung to Qin Jian’s arm, hiding behind him.

”Don’t hide! Come out!”

”No... not coming out.” Huizi said trembling with fear, ”If I come out, you’ll hack me to death!”

”Not coming out, huh? Fine! Soldier, move aside! We don’t want to hurt you! We just want to take this man!” The leader said.

”What trouble did he get into?” Qin Jian asked in a deep voice.

”He owes money!”

”What do you plan to do with him?”

”Two arms and a leg! That’s what he’s paying our Boss!”

Qin Jian frowned, looking at Huizi hiding behind him, asking: ”Is it true?”

”They cheated! They tampered with the cards!” Huizi said excitedly, ”I was framed!”

Qin Jian understood now; this was a matter of vendetta in the criminal underworld, involving gambling.

”You can talk to our Boss about that! Right now, I’m just collecting what he owes!”

”That’s illegal! Do you want to go to jail?” Qin Jian pulled the coward hiding behind him out, ”And you! You’d better turn yourself in to the public security bureau!”

”I’ll go. I’ll go back! But for now, please save me!”

”No one can save you.” The leader went forward, trying to take away Huizi. He reached out, but Qin Jian tightly grabbed his wrist.

”I won’t let this happen,” Qin Jian said.

”We have to answer for this! Soldier, we don’t want to be enemies with military people! But please, don’t block our way either!” The leader deeply understood that conflicting with military personnel wouldn’t end well for him.

Especially since the man before him had military rank, causing trouble would only bring more trouble!
