Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 846: Ten-Tailed Foxʼs Second Soul

”Youʼve finally come, Zhang Fei.”

Along with that voice, many golden lights gathered in one place and became one, turning into a woman with straight golden hair that cascaded down her shoulders, framing a face of flawless beauty. A delicate golden sigil adorned her forehead, glowing faintly with an ethereal aura. Her eyes were deep as the ocean, yet sharp as a blade. Two delicate rosy lips stick perfectly above the oval chin, tempting any man to kiss her.

Her attire was a combination of white and gold fluttering with intricate golden leaf patterns and a golden rose blooming on her fairly large chest, symbolizing purity and elegance. Two golden wings flapped behind her back, and her hourglass curves looked perfect. Every part of her reflected divinity; her presence felt like a beacon of light, inspiring awe and possessing absolute authority.

Despite this, Zhang Fei [5] and Feng Xishui felt a little pressured by the womanʼs aura. ʼScan her, Mei.ʼ

[Alright.]

ʼSheʼs a celestial dragon, huh? Since the system canʼt detect her cultivation, she must have reached the Five Celestial Realm. Sheʼs much younger than Feng Xueying and the others, so she must have come from the Paradise Realm.ʼ Zhang Fei [5] then answered. ”Unlike your avatar that you use to disguise yourself, your true self is truly beautiful, Tianshi Shengjie. Back then, you said that you were a member of the natural races, but you turned out to be a powerful beast, to be precise, a celestial dragon.”

”I donʼt know how you recognized me, but I guessed it from the start.” Tianshi Shengjie replied with a smile.

”Haha.” Zhang Fei [5] softly laughed in response. ”What is a powerful celestial dragon like you doing in the three mortal realms? Iʼm sure you came down from the Paradise Realm not just to wait for the successor of the Ten-Tailed Fox, and Iʼm certain you have other goals.”

Tianshi Shengjie shook her head at him. ”I had no other goal but to look for the successor of the Ten-Tailed Fox, and I have found his successor now.”

”You are mistaken.” Zhang Fei [5] denied it directly. ”As long as I havenʼt evolved to ten-tailed, I will never consider myself as his successor. Moreover, Tian Baitian and Tian Baixing still have the chance to become his successors, so all possibilities are still there.”

Tianshi Shengjie did not respond to that and turned to leave. ”Follow me; I will take you to a place reserved for you.”

Feng Xishui immediately returned to human form; he and Zhang Fei [5] then flew behind Tianshi Shengjie.

Sometime later, they had arrived in front of a small lake with a waterfall on the north side. Tianshi Shengjie immediately led them into a cave behind the waterfall, where a statue of a ten-tailed fox stood at the back end. ”You should know what you have to do, right?”

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei [5] immediately walked in front of the statue and injected his heavenly fox aura into it.

*Rumble...Rumble...*

The wall at the end of the cave immediately splits in two, opening the path to a garden filled with precious and rare herbs. However, they could feel a powerful aura from within it, and Zhang Fei [5] naturally knew that it was the aura of the ten-tailed foxʼs soul.

However, Zhang Fei [5] felt that it was different from the calm and comfortable aura he felt in the Fairy Forest in the Jade Sky Realm. It was wilder, more aggressive, and filled with anger. Even Feng Xishui shivered in fear because of the aura emanating from within, and he chose to take a few steps back.

”Whatʼs going on? Why is this soulʼs aura different from the one that merged with mine? Zhang Fei [5] asked.

Tianshi Shengjie shook her head. ”I donʼt know the reason, and you can find it out for yourself after you meet him. Go in now, and the two of us will wait for you here.”

Zhang Fei [5] let out a soft sigh, nodded, and walked into the garden. The garden entrance closed behind him, and a new notification appeared in his mind.

ʼOpen the reward, Mei.ʼ

[Obtained x1 Soul Ascension Pill.]

[Soul Ascension Pill: The pill is concocted under starlight using sacred materials such as Soul-Essence Lotus, Void Spirit Ice, and the Heavenly Will Dew, forcibly breaking through the soul power by one stage.]

ʼHmm?ʼ Zhang Fei [5]ʼs expression was momentarily surprised before turning to joy, especially since he had long wanted to break through to the early stage of the Heavenly Soul Level. Unfortunately, his soul level was still far from breaking through, and the pill could help him to achieve that.

[Master, your current soul power doesnʼt seem to be enough to absorb the ten-tailed foxʼs soul, so the system gave you such a pill.]

ʼI think so.ʼ Before his second meeting with the will of the universe, Zhang Fei [5] always questioned the young girlʼs identity, including her abilities to create the system, Mei, and all the items. Even though he still has many questions about her, he no longer doubts her abilities to create them, especially since the will of the universe said that her existence transcended the universe itself.

Zhang Fei [5] had always thought that the young girl gave Mei and the system to him as a return gift after she killed him, but he also felt that she had other intentions in giving them to him, especially after his conversation with the will of the universe.

Even though the will of the universe did not say it outright at that time, Zhang Fei [5] was sure that the existence of another world beyond the Paradise Realm was real, which made him think that the little girl came from that world. However, he would rather not think too much about it, especially since he had not yet broken through to the Seven Divine Realm and the Paradise Realm was still out of his reach, let alone the realm beyond it.

Zhang Fei [5] did not continue going inside and sat down on the ground. He released his soul, took out the soul ascension pill, and swallowed it directly. He closed his eyes and used his Qi to dissolve the pill directly, releasing a torrent of pure soul essence that flowed through his veins and soul. His soul space violently surged, waves of soul power crashing into him, shocking Nalan Yushu and Ma Kuangyu, who lived in it.

The dark female figure, who was also in Zhang Fei [5]ʼs soul space, absorbs his soul power, strengthening her soul rapidly.

Unlike his previous soul breakthroughs, Zhang Fei [5] felt immense pain, and the source came from his soul. He clenched his jaw, blood seeping from the corners of his mouth because the pain was sharp, burning, and devastating. It felt as if his very existence was being torn apart and rebuilt, especially since the soul was the most essential part of the body. As he absorbed the effects of the pill, the dozens of lotus buds in his soul immediately rotated by themselves, and several lotus petals began to bloom beneath them.

.

.

.

Zhang Fei [5]ʼs soul breakthrough caused panic in several places, especially since his real body and the other four clones experienced the same incident.

In Cheng Gaojiʼs residence, Hun Di and the others gathered in Zhang Xiaolong [3]ʼs room, and they immediately knew that he was breaking through to the early stage of the Heavenly Soul Level.

In the Heavenly Bliss Pavilion, Shang Yaolin and his other wives also tensed up seeing Zhang Fei in so much pain. They witnessed the constant torment and reconstruction of his soul.

Feltia [2], who previously cultivated at the icy lake, was forced to stop, especially since the pain was truly unbearable, making Zhang Yue, Xian Lianghua, and Xue Jingling worry about him.

Balena, who was still on her way to the Blue Water Realm, was worried about Zhang Fei [1]ʼs condition. Unlike her, the two female foxes looked relaxed, and they believed they would be free if something happened to him.

Feng Yao, who accompanied Zhang Fei [4] to look for Feng Yichen, looked very relaxed even though he looked like he was in a lot of pain. Huo Ling also came out of her body to watch him break through in his soul level.

At the end of the garden, the soul of the ten-tailed fox arrogantly and condescendingly looked at Zhang Fei [5]. Unlike his first soul, his second soul looks much fiercer, showing off his pointy and sharp fangs. ”Is this weakling destined to inherit my power? He is too weak, and he will tarnish my name.”

.

.

.

After he had been tormented for some time, Zhang Fei [5]ʼs soul had transformed, and his body floated into the middle of the air. Before him floated a great phantom—his own soul, now much larger, about hundreds of feet tall, shrouded in brilliant light and light chains. They were the chains of mortality, forged by the limits of his previous realm.

The dozens of lotus buds in Zhang Fei [5]ʼs soul no longer had ten but twenty-four petals, and they continued to rotate, releasing a huge amount of soul power, breaking the chains one by one, and freeing his soul from their restraints. At the same time, his soul space also underwent changes, and its size became wider, forming a soul sea, which increased his soul power to an extent.

A brand symbol appeared on Zhang Fei [5]ʼs soulʼs forehead, inscribed with the ancient character for ”Heaven”. The symbol glowed for a few moments before sinking into his soul, indicating that his soul breakthrough was successful.

[The host soul level increases to the early stage of the heavenly soul level.]

After his soul returned to his body, Zhang Fei [5]ʼs eyes snapped open. He then used his senses to confirm the changes in himself, and he found them to be stronger and spread further.

Zhang Fei [5] tried to enter his soul space, which had now turned into a soul sea. He smiled in satisfaction seeing the size of his soul sea because it had become expansive, about 250 miles (ca. 402 km).

”Youʼre awesome, kid.” Ma Kuangyu spoke as he appeared in front of Zhang Fei [5] along with Nalan Yushu. ”Usually, the soul sea of a soul cultivator would not be this wide when breaking through for the first time, and the initial area is around 50 to 100 miles (ca. 161 km). However, your soul sea is 250 miles (ca. 402 km) wide, and it will expand every time you break through to the next stage. This way, you can store more soul power, and a soul cultivator at your level will not be able to fight you.”

”I also didnʼt expect that my soul sea would be this wide.” Zhang Fei [5] replied with a satisfied smile on his face.

Nalan Yushu then informed him. ”Master, your recent soul breakthrough has affected the female dark fairy, making her soul clearer. If you continue to supply her with your soul power, she might wake up soon.”

”I see.” Zhang Fei [5] nodded in understanding. ”I will check on her later, and I will go out to settle my business with the soul of the ten-tailed fox first.”

.

.

.

Zhang Fei [5] went straight to the end of the garden, but he got an unpleasant welcome from the soul of the ten-tailed fox, who immediately attacked him with his right claw.

*Boom*

Naturally, Zhang Fei [5] easily avoided his attack, and he floated a little distance in front of the soul of the ten-tailed fox. ”Iʼve met your two souls, but they werenʼt as arrogant as you.”

”Hahaha.” The soul of the ten-tailed fox laughed at that. ”Bullshit! This soul is my second soul, so thereʼs no way youʼve met the other two.”

Zhang Fei [5] released a soft sigh and shook his head. ”Youʼve grown senile due to your prolonged confinement in this place, donʼt you think? You should know the second soul Iʼm referring to, right?”

”Hmm?” The soul of the ten-tailed fox furrowed his brows. ”I see! You have met my evil soul.”

”Thatʼs right.” Zhang Fei [5] nodded at him. ”I accidentally met your evil soul. Although he is evil, he is not as arrogant as you, and I think he is a little better than you.”

Hearing that, the soul of the ten-tailed fox used his ten tails to attack him, but Zhang Fei [5] immediately summoned the demon extermination sword and blocked them.

The soul of the ten-tailed fox then used his soul power to suppress him, but Ma Kuangyu helped Zhang Fei [5] to fight back using his soul power.

*Roar*

The soul of the ten-tailed fox furiously roared after he failed to attack and suppressed Zhang Fei [5], pushing him back several steps.

”I donʼt understand how you can be different from your first soul, but since you donʼt like the easy way, I will absorb your soul using the hard way.” Zhang Fei [5] then used the Nine Nether Fiends Summoning, and nine darkness creatures immediately appeared around him before moving to attack the soul of the ten-tailed fox.

*Roar*

The soul of the ten-tailed fox blew them away with another roar, and its ten tails attacked the nine darkness creatures, obliterating them instantly.

However, Zhang Fei [5] immediately used the fourth sub-technique of the origin soul art, and his soul manifestation directly attacked the soul of the ten-tailed fox. Naturally, Ma Kuangyu assisted him with his own soul power, strengthening his.

The soul of the ten-tailed fox seemed shocked at that, but he dashed and attacked Zhang Fei [5]ʼs soul manifestation using his right claw, causing the twoʼs attacks to clash with each other.

*Boom*

The explosion knocked both of them quite far back, but they hurriedly stabilized themselves and attacked each other again.

Even though it was only a small part of his soul, and he had also been sealed for so long, the soul of the ten-tailed fox was still too strong for Zhang Fei [5]ʼs soul.

Normally, Zhang Fei [5]ʼs soul would not be able to keep up with the soul of the ten-tailed fox, but he was lucky because of the existence of Ma Kuanyu in his soul space.

Furthermore, Zhang Fei [5] had another advantage over the soul of the ten-tailed fox, especially since he was still alive. As soon as their souls clashed with each other, he immediately jumped onto the foxʼs soul and used his demon-absorbing ability.

*Roar*

The soul of the ten-tailed fox roared once again. ”Bastard! You cheated!”

”Hahaha.” Zhang Fei [5] laughed at that. ”Old fox, all methods are lawful in battle, especially when facing an opponent who is much stronger than me, like you. You should stop wasting time and surrender to me, and we can unite our souls.”

”Iʼll kill you, you bastard!” Just as the soul of the ten-tailed fox was about to attack Zhang Fei [5], Nalan Yushuʼs soul immediately emerged from his soul sea and possessed the foxʼs soul. ”Who the fuck are you! How dare you enter my soul, you filthy bitch!”
