The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 2425: Chapter 2425: Treated with Caution

The city management of Tianji City and Windward City were all taken aback!

These two cities were already aware of the emergence of a new city not far from them. They knew the person building this new city had incorporated several nearby robber organizations and directly wiped out one of them.

However, they didn’t know the New City Lord was this terrifyingly powerful.

”Have we still not uncovered the origins of this person?” the Tianji City Lord asked with a frown.

”We haven’t found out the origins of this person. From the intelligence we currently have, this individual appeared very suddenly. Moreover, we haven’t identified such an overwhelmingly powerful Immortal Venerable Peak in Kunling Heaven. Perhaps only the intelligence department at headquarters can get more information in a short time,” a person in a black robe bowed and said.

”It’s very strange, what exactly does this person intend to do? His new city is close to Tianji City, Windward City, and Mystic Underworld City. Could it be that he wants to compete with us for resources? No matter how strong he is, if he opposes our three forces, it’s self-destruction,” the Tianji City Lord said with a grim face.

”City Lord, this new city is only a couple of hundred thousand miles away from the Red Victory Secret Land. If... this city can gain a foothold, then many adventurers might choose this new city called Hongmeng City as a rest stop.” The person in the black robe said solemnly: ”After the Mystic Underworld City incident spread, there are quite a few adventurers in our Tianji City talking about this Hongmeng City; some seem to want to take a look.”

”It’s not that easy; Hongmeng City doesn’t seem to even have shops, right? What are those adventurers resting for in Hongmeng City? Elixirs, Magic Treasures, and many supplies can’t be bought there.” The City Lord shook his head.

”For now, Hongmeng City indeed has little allure. But that City Lord named Jing Yan must have big ambitions; he should have a major plan.” The person in the black robe spoke.

”Hmm, makes sense. It seems I need to report this matter to headquarters,” the City Lord nodded and said.

At the same time, similar things were happening in Windward City.

Before the Mystic Underworld City incident, the City Lords of Windward and Tianji cities hadn’t reported the emergence of this new city to headquarters. At that time, it appeared not to be a big deal; after all, they were City Lords of important cities, and reporting such little things to headquarters might cause displeasure from higher-ups, even make them question their competence. But after the Mystic Underworld City incident, they couldn’t help but report it because the City Lord named Jing Yan was beyond what they could handle.

Mystic Underworld City!

City Lord Mei Li was alone in a room, taking out the Communication Magical Treasure.

Thinking about today’s events, she was still filled with fear. Jing Yan, that person, could kill her too easily.

She was reluctant to report this matter to headquarters but had no choice. The news has already spread; even if she doesn’t report it, the headquarters will soon know about it, and her troubles could worsen.

She also didn’t dare leave Mystic Underworld City because... although Kunling Heaven is vast, finding a place to hide would be difficult. If Golden Toad Commerce issued an order to hunt her down, she might not survive even a few days.

”Meili, is there something?” From within the Communication Magical Treasure, the voice of the elder from headquarters was soon heard.

”Honorable Elder...” Meili organized her words and recounted the events in detail.

Of course, she didn’t fully tell the truth.

Ru Li brought twenty-two Divine Soul Items to the Mystic Underworld City auction house intending to cash them in; she told the headquarters elder she wanted to snatch these Divine Soul Items without paying, but she didn’t say she wanted to swallow them wholly, only that she hadn’t had time to report the matter upwards. If she truly said she wanted to take these Divine Soul Items herself, she would be undeniably doomed.

Actually, such things are not unheard of in Golden Toad Commerce; in many cities controlled by Golden Toad Commerce, similar incidents have occurred. And Golden Toad Commerce headquarters also secretly supports such behavior; as long as it can be done silently, there’s no problem at all.

”Useless!” After Meili City Lord’s report, the headquarters elder chastised her in a deep voice.

”Honorable Elder, I... I didn’t expect the new city’s Lord to be so powerful. Now, Quan Guangzhen has been killed. Jing Yan also demands that we compensate him one trillion Black Crystal Stones and deliver them to Hongmeng City within a month,” Mei Li City Lord said.

”Honorable Elder, I understand I am responsible for this matter, and no matter how headquarters chooses to deal with me, I have no complaints.” Mei Li City Lord continued, ”But Jing Yan is too excessive; if we don’t eliminate him, our Golden Toad Commerce will lose face.”

At this moment, City Lord Mei Li still hoped headquarters would send strong individuals to obliterate Jing Yan. That Jing Yan seems to be an Immortal Venerable Peak Powerhouse; to eliminate him, headquarters might need to send two or three Immortal Venerable Peak Powerhouses.

”I’ve already learned of this matter; for now, remain calm. I will report this to the President. Behave yourself in this period and wait for headquarters’ decision,” the elder said.

”Yes!” Mei Li City Lord hurriedly replied.

The seat of City Lord of Mystic Underworld City is definitely unfortunate now; Mei Li City Lord only hopes she can keep her life.

Golden Toad Commerce Headquarters.

Elder Gao Zhenjiang hurriedly arrived at the President’s residence.

”Elder Zhenjiang, why are you in such a rush?” The President asked with a smile upon seeing Gao Zhenjiang.

”Something happened over at Mystic Underworld City,” Gao Zhenjiang said solemnly.

”What?” The President’s expression slightly changed.

Mystic Underworld City is an important city within the Thunder Domain for Golden Toad Commerce, and it’s heavily involved.

To this day, Thunder Domain remains one of the richest areas in Kunling Heaven, and deep within it lies the Red Victory Secret Land, one of the four dangerous places. Mystic Underworld City is Golden Toad Commerce’s nail in Thunder Domain.

”What exactly happened?” The President looked at Elder Gao Zhenjiang and asked.

Mystic Underworld City is a city directly under Elder Gao Zhenjiang’s responsibility, and City Lord Mei Li is under his wing.

”Just now, Meili sent me a communication...” Gao Zhenjiang recounted the situation Mei Li reported to him to the President.

Afterward, he added, ”I’ve already ordered detailed information from within Thunder Domain; feedback should arrive within the next couple of days.”

”President, what Meili said should align with the situation. If indeed true, we must take this matter seriously. The new city is called Hongmeng City, and the City Lord is named Jing Yan. If he’s truly an Immortal Venerable Peak, we must tread carefully in our response.” Gao Zhenjiang said.

The President stood up, pacing within the room, his expression somewhat gloomy.

After a while, he said, ”Twenty-two Divine Soul Items! This person must have an extraordinary background! Elder Zhenjiang, uncover his identity.”

”Yes!” Gao Zhenjiang agreed with a heavy nod.
