The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 537: Back Home

”...AAAHHHHH!!!!”

CRACK!! CRUNCH! BREAK!

”GODDAMMIT!” I flip a table upside down, hurling it through the window, which shatters. A maid comes to see what’s happening.

”Lady Grimm? I-Is something wrong?” she asks, looking at me. I immediately appear in front of her, grabbing her neck and squeezing until it bursts and her head falls to the floor.

”Haa...Haaa...” I’m panting with pure rage as I continue tearing through the room, smashing everything I can. Why does breaking things make me feel calmer? If this were my kingdom, I’d go out and kill everything in my path, but since it’s Pandora’s kingdom and Azazel is here, I won’t do something so insane.

”WHY DID SHE APPEAR FOR PANDORA!” I throw the wardrobe out the window, watching it crush a maid who was looking up at my window in confusion. I shatter the wall to the right with a punch, opening a gap between one wall and the next.

What’s filling me with the purest hatred is the Primordial Goddess. She appeared for Pandora, without Pandora making any effort. Meanwhile, I spent millions of years trying to summon the Primordial Goddess to speak with her.

Millions of years protecting a magic that, in the end, failed and only brought forth a fragment that couldn’t even converse with me!! And then Pandora, without even trying, gets the chance to meet the Primordial Goddess.

And that miserable, stupid fucking whore didn’t even try to hide it from my future vision. She let me see that she was going to speak with Pandora.

As if all my effort to speak with her was worth nothing, while Pandora, who didn’t even want to see her, got that chance. I’m not angry at Pandora.

That would be stupid. Pandora wasn’t even trying. I’m angry at the Primordial Goddess. That stupid bitch is the one who appeared for Pandora.

”Is this how you repay all the work I did for you when I still obeyed you!!? IS THIS HOW YOU PAY ME BACK!!?” I kick the floor in anger, sinking the room down into the one below.

”...” I run a hand over my face, realizing I’m crying from frustration. Frustration for the wasted years. Frustration for the extreme effort I made, even without being noticed. Frustration for being ignored, even though I’m a piece of her.

She created me. I’m one of her avatars. So why, even though she knows how desperately I want to see her, does she pull this shit and ignore me completely?

”Why...why are you so unfair to me...” I hate this. I hate this injustice from the bottom of my heart. She created me, knew perfectly well what would happen to me, and knows how much it frustrates me that she won’t come talk to me. And still, she does this.

”Tsk...” I don’t even really know what I should think about all this, so I slowly calm myself down to avoid breaking more things.

...

...

...

I look at my mother, the Goddess of the Abyss, sitting on a giant throne. It’s strange to see her without hiding anything. I take a few steps forward, a little nervous.

’What should I do?’ She’s staring at me in silence. Bowing seems weird—I’m not some servant or anything—but getting too close also feels wrong. So I just approach to a certain point and stand still, staring back at her.

We remain in this awkward silence for several minutes, no one speaking first. But I don’t look away from the giant eye floating behind my back, nor do I look away from her. I keep staring until she smiles at me.

”Very good, Pandora. Daring. I like that. Your older sister bowed as soon as she arrived, but you have attitude,” she says with a big, proud smile.

”Of course, Mother! Only the best for you. I’ve finally come home again!” I say as she rises from the throne. The entire castle seems to tremble just from her doing that, and I feel my whole body vibrate a little from the impact.

It’s like watching a mountain start to move, creating earthquakes. If this weren’t the Abyss, she would have destroyed everything just by standing up.

”I see you’ve transformed completely... congratulations,” she says, stopping in front of me. I look up, but because she’s so close, I can’t see her face—only these two massive, enormous breasts due to her immense size.

”Yes! I discovered it... ah... you know how, right...” I realize she saw everything, even my embarrassing situation.

”I’ve been watching since you entered the Abyss.”

”...I see. I’d have preferred you hadn’t seen me so weak and pitiful, but it’s fine. Is there any other secret about my form that I should know?” I ask, taking a few more steps back, finally seeing her face.

”I don’t know? Maybe there’s something more here, or there, that I hid. But you’d prefer to discover that on your own, wouldn’t you? Because you’re quite independent.”

”You’re right, Mother... I tried to investigate the Abyss a bit on my own, but it’s complicated. Either no one knows anything, or the monsters try to deceive me, or they just run away from me.”

”So you’re going to be direct with me, huh?” I ask, wanting to learn things from her.

”Yes, I am. I don’t need to hide things from you, Pandora, because it’s more useful to be completely honest. But let’s not talk about that now. Let me savor our reunion,” she says, picking me up by the waist, lifting me off the ground, and examining my body directly.

”Mother, I have a present for you!” I say with a smile.

”A present?”

”Yes! I found my aunt... your sister... and I want to bring her to you...”

”...” She gets a strange look in her eyes.

”I have her in my castle, and when I reach a higher level, I should be able to pull her here into the Abyss...” She sets me down on the floor, returning thoughtfully to sit on her throne.

”You didn’t like it?” I thought she’d want to see her ”twin” sister again, the only one who stood by her side and who was killed in the past. Even though she reincarnated as a somewhat crazy human, I still think Evangeline would act interested in my mother.

”I liked it... it’s a great present... I’m just... tired.”

”?”

”Daughter, do you know how old I am?”

”W-Well... no? Probably a few billion years...” I have no idea.

”Wrong, Pandora. The system classifies age in two ways: physical age, which is counted as the time that passes normally in the universe, and mental age, which is the time you’ve been alive, counting places where time passes differently.”

”I am 891 Yonillion years old in mental age.” When she says that, I try to count how big that number is, but I don’t know. I don’t even know that number, but it seems like a lot.

”I’m the oldest goddess in mental age, because time in the Abyss is a complete mess... The last time I saw my sister... was so long ago that any feelings about her have cooled considerably... and though I’d love to see her again, I’m not quite sure how to act in front of someone I haven’t seen for so long,” Mom says strangely.

”...You... seem less full of rage, hatred, and desire to kill than I expected.” She seems much calmer for someone who was treated like a monster.

”...That’s what happens when you live a long time. I still hate many things, and I want to kill the other goddesses, but... my feelings are quite shallow about everything else that isn’t my children, my desire for destruction, and boredom.”

”You could sum it up as me being too old. I’m no longer young enough to stay as active as I was in the past... I’ve been sitting on this throne for so long... that everything feels empty.” She crosses one leg over the other, resting it on her thigh.

”Most goddesses have an age in the billions to trillions of years, because they all live in places with ’stable’ time. That’s why they’re more proactive and energetic.”

”Of course, physically, the system also says I’m in the age range of a few billion to trillion years. I’m no different from them physically. But the mind doesn’t keep up with the body, and I bet you know that well.”

”...” When she says that, I realize all the time I’ve spent here in the Abyss. It’s been over 30,000 years. Time seemed to fly by, but my body is still only 4 years old, while my mind is already 45,000 years old.

’I see...’ I understand why she’d want to leave this shitty place. The fact that she’s so old shows how absurd the Abyss is.

”Wait, so you’d be as old as the Primordial Goddess?”

”Pff.” When I say that, my mother holds back a laugh.

”Pandora, the age of your Primordial Goddess is infinite. There’s nothing older or younger than her, because she exists in every moment of time. I don’t even come close to her age.”

”Oh... that makes sense... Well, the conversation is great, but is there anything to eat, Mother? I’m starving...” I stretch a little without any fear of my mother. She’s already made it clear she doesn’t care much about my current behavior, that I can be more free, and since she’s my mother, this house is also my house.

”Yes, I have an excellent meal waiting for us. We can also talk about that element you’ve been using recently.” Our conversation really happens like a mother and daughter meeting after being apart for some time. It’s... pleasantly calm.

”The Doom one, right!? I can explain!! It’s a personal creation of mine!” When I say that, my mother looks slightly surprised, her eyes opening wider.

”You’ve already managed to create an element? You only make me proud, daughter! Creating elements is not easy at all, and especially an element as strong as the one you made.” She comes to me, quickly picking me up and holding me in her arms as she starts walking, hugging me.

”Hehehe.” I hug her back with my four arms, excited too. Receiving praise from her is strangely good and pleasant.

”Mom, what about big sister?”

”...” When I ask about her, everything falls into an uncomfortable silence, broken only by the sound of the door opening and my mother’s footsteps making the castle tremble.

”She’s somewhere out there, training to get back to her level of 100 billion.”

”I see... Mom, do you think it’ll take long for me to reach 100 billion?” I’ll need that if I want to kill goddesses without taking too many risks.

”Yes, a fair amount of time will be needed, because from level 25 billion onward, the requirements to increase your level grow tremendously. But I know you’ll make me proud.”

”Of course!! You’ll see, I’ll achieve it soon!” I say, snuggling into her warm arms. I feel so safe here, because she is so very strong.
