The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 26: Weapons and Miners Grade

After a well-prepared meal, I went to meet Thalor. He had taught me the martial arts and how to fight with weapons.

Soon I arrive at the arena and see various bastard swords on a sword rack. Thalor is in the middle of the arena. I jump from the bleachers, which must be about 30 meters high, and land on the ground.

I walk up to him and stop in front of him, waiting for him to speak.

”I was expecting Your Majesty. Today I will teach you a few things. First, Iʼll talk about some types of weapons, and Iʼll teach you a style of fencing with a bastard sword. The reason Iʼm teaching this style first is because bastard swords are the most common weapons in battle, so you can always get one on the battlefield. Understand?”

”...” Soon Thalor strikes me on the calf with the side of the sword.

”Oww...W-whatʼs your problem?!” I say to him, exasperated. I was struck without reason.

”As long as I am your fencing instructor, I will be a serious instructor. Your position as my superior will not be taken into account. Thatʼs why I attacked you for not responding when I finished speaking.”

”...”

”When I tell you something, you must always confirm that you understand by saying, ʼUnderstood, Commander.ʼ”

”May I know the reason for this?” I donʼt understand why I, the king, should treat him with such respect.

”I am teaching Your Highness discipline. Elena told me a little about how Your Majesty fights... itʼs bad, not much different from a wild animal. It lacks control, discipline, and technique.”

”I will be teaching all of this to Your Majesty. I will teach you technique by teaching fencing, I will teach you discipline by making you accept treating those inferior to you with respect, and I will teach you control so you donʼt lose your focus on combat or politics-related things.”

”Remember, a good leader must have control, discipline, and technique, as well as charisma, talent, and intellect. Fortunately, Your Majesty has all the essentials of a perfect leader, it just needs refinement.”

Thalor speaks like a true military officer. I already foresee that I will be getting beaten a lot in these lessons of his.

”Now, shall we begin our lessons? Understood?”

”...”

”Oww...” He hit me again. By reflex, I almost punched him until I remembered the reason.

ʼDamn it...ʼ

”Understood, Commander.” Itʼs humiliating not to be able to do anything, but heʼs right. I have to lead a race, so I canʼt lack anything to be the perfect leader.

ʼJust wait, Thalor. As soon as Iʼm strong enough and we have a friendly duel, Iʼm going to beat you up a lot.ʼ I wonʼt leave this alone forever. Someday Iʼll challenge him to a friendly fight.

”Letʼs start by talking about weapons. There are various types of weapons, both from our world and from the heroesʼ world, which are called ʼmodern weaponsʼ.”

”However, the heroesʼ weapons are...weak, very weak. Weapons like rifles and pistols created by heroes have almost no use. A low-level demon can resist the shots without problem.”

”The biggest problem with modern weapons is the material. Producing constant bullets of truly valuable material is impossible. In addition, weapons like these have a limit to how much magic they can withstand, so they are weak and inefficient unless you possess a specific skill that allows you to use them.”

”Honestly, among the heroesʼ world weapons, the strongest are nuclear weapons, and even those only work against the weak. Your Majesty in your current state could survive nuclear weapons with only minor damage.”

”At most, nuclear weapons are good for destroying large areas. Not even that thing they called ʼradiationʼ has any use, after all, radiation can be cured by magic or regeneration.”

I understand, then modern weapons donʼt have much utility. Thatʼs logical, since without bullet material, the weapons canʼt be used. I donʼt know much about ores, but magic really seems better than weapons, especially looking at the elements.

What would a sniper do against time manipulation magic? What would a nuclear bomb do against a void manifestation?

”Now, about weapons from our world, they are divided into grades. We have the grades...”

Grade 1 = Common weapons made of common materials, the type of armament obtained anywhere.

Grade 2 = Weapons slightly stronger than Grade 1, being only a little superior, generally iron weapons.

Grade 3 = Well-forged weapons, although the material is common, the blacksmith did an exceptional job, making the weapon stronger.

Grade 4 = Weapons made with stronger ores than iron, such as gold, diamond, or mithril.

Grade 5 = From this grade onwards, magical ores begin to be used, being weapons far superior to common ones, as well as weapons that can be enchanted.

Grade 6 = Armaments made of ores such as titanium, uranium, cobalt, or pure platinum, being weapons with high magical affinity.

Grade 7 = Weapons made with purely magical ores such as Bloodstone, Lunar Essence Stone, and Altheranium.

Grade 8 = From this grade onwards, there are only enchanted weapons. In addition to being made with excellent magical ores, they have spells engraved on their blades.

Grade 9 = Weapons with such powerful enchantments that they can destroy mountains with a simple swing, without even activating the weaponʼs magic.

Grade 10 = Weapons made with Celestial Stone, an ore that is the crystallized blood of a goddess. Weapons made with this ore are extremely durable, being very powerful weapons with a high capacity for absorbing ambient mana.

Grade 11 = Void Weapons, armaments that were directly generated from the power of the Primordial Goddess. They are completely indestructible, have an absurdly high rate of ambient mana absorption, and have high magical capacity.

Special Grade = Any previous grade weapon can become a Special Grade. Special Grade weapons will have their own life, consciousness, or personality. This fact does not necessarily guarantee that the sword will be powerful, it only indicates that the sword has its own consciousness.

”These are the weapon grades, Your Majesty. Understood?”

”...”

ʼIt seems incredible, especially the Special Grade ones. Imagine if I had...ʼ

”Oww...”

”Understood, Commander...” The desire to punch Thalor is so great, so great... I canʼt even see him move, his status is too high. I know heʼs just helping, but itʼs still irritating, especially since heʼs hitting hard for real.

I even heard the bones cracking as they regenerated. Itʼs not possible that all my teachers who teach in practice like to hit me. First Elena and now Thalor.

”Now Iʼll talk a little about some ores that Your Majesty can use to forge your personal weapon.”

Celestial Stone = An ore made from the crystallized blood of a goddess, has high magical conductivity and can be used in magic circles to automate them for long periods of time.

Bloodstone = It is formed when magic combines with a large amount of blood, becoming a stone. It is normally generated in wars where high-level magic is constantly used. It is a dark red, dull-looking stone that absorbs negative energy.

Lunar Essence Stone = Fragments of the moon charged with magic. They have large amounts of stored mana, making them great resources for crafting artifacts.

Altheranium = A completely black stone, said to come from the abyss itself. It has cursed properties that affect those who touch it with fatigue, pain, and paranoia, although it does not affect demons.

Vortilium = A crystal that seems to contain internal whirlwinds. Used in space-time magic, spells of speed and movement manipulation between dimensions.

Toxilion = A greenish mineral, poisonous to the touch for common beings. Used for poison enchantments and resistance against toxins. When treated, it can neutralize toxic substances.

Tempestium = A crystal created by magical storms, carrying the force of lightning and used for invoking spells of lightning and storms. It carries a live and unstable electricity, being difficult to handle.

Necrolitio = A greenish stone, wrapped in a spectral mist. Used in necromancy spells, able to store the essence of souls for reanimation rituals.

Vermignea = A crimson mineral with regenerative properties, often incorporated into healing elixirs and used to enchant items with wound recovery abilities.

Tenebrium = A translucent black mineral, used in mental manipulation rituals and dream control. Very rare and difficult to handle due to its affinity for psychic energies.

Stardust Iron = A meteoric ore that shines intensely under moonlight. Used to create magical weapons that are incredibly resistant and effective against supernatural creatures.

Quintessentium = A rare crystal that contains traces of all four primordial elements (fire, water, earth, air). Essential in elemental balance rituals and in elemental summoning artifacts.

”I think those are the most important ones to mention.”

”Why donʼt any of you cite all of them at once?” Again, they only mentioned a few.

”Your Majesty, there are so many variations of the same thing in the world that if I were to list them, I could say more than 500 different kinds of iron that do practically the same thing.”

”With magic as well, there are several variations that are practically the same. In other words, itʼs not worth mentioning because it would go into the millions and they are really not that necessary.”

”Ah...okay, I understand... I mean, Understood, Commander.” He smiles at my way of speaking.

”Now, letʼs move on to fencing...”
