The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 3: Learning More

”HAHAHAHAHAHAHA look at this useless one, his power is only 22!” Kaito says, pointing at me, and the whole class soon bursts out laughing, even the teacher laughs at me.

ʼOf course destiny wouldnʼt favor me in this new world...ʼ

”Please everyone, calm down, sometimes even among those with the title of Hero, someone without that title comes, so a normal person,” the Saint says, trying to make everyone be quiet.

Everyone laughs and murmurs.

ʼI already see it will be difficult to live in this world...ʼ it was already difficult in modern society, imagine here in this place with underdeveloped rules and a hierarchy that works on the basis of Status and strength.

The Saint takes us to a room and says she will explain some things. I immediately notice the disdain in her gaze when she looks at me.

”As I said, my name is Saint Rosaline and this is the kingdom of Elysia, you have been summoned to help us eradicate the demons from this world,”

”So what happened to the Demon King?” a student asks.

”800 years ago, he was defeated by the first group of heroes, who sacrificed their lives to kill the Demon King, thus saving our kingdom, but do you have any other questions?” she calmly explains.

”...Why is there no other Demon King to replace the old one?” Hana asks, her question logical, after all, why in 800 years havenʼt they put another in the position.

”The Demon King is not a position, he is like a living natural disaster, unlike the other beings in this world, the Demon King is already born as the Demon King,” she finishes speaking and waits for Hana to say something else.

”...Why hasnʼt any other demon usurped the title?” Kaori asks this time.

”Because the Demon King is the only one capable of commanding the other demons, when some powerful demons tried to take this title, it didnʼt work since almost no demon or monster obeyed them.”

ʼSo...this means the demons donʼt even have anyone leading them...so why are the humans at war?ʼ Iʼm left with doubts about this, if no one is leading, then it doesnʼt make sense for the demons to maintain a war.

”What are the Unique Abilities, I didnʼt understand,” a nervous student asks the saint.

”Unique Abilities are a trump card skill that you obtain when you come to this world, the only beings who have a unique ability are you heroes, with it you can defeat someone much stronger if you know how to use it properly.”

”Of course the Bakashi failed to obtain one hehehe,” Hana says, making everyone laugh at me for being a common person.

”Getting back to the subject, our kingdom will provide all available materials and assistance to make all of you strong, fortunately a hero evolves in level quickly.”

”Of course that...” She was talking when someone enters the room.

”Your Majesty... the summoning ritual was a success,” the Saint speaks to a short, fat man wearing clothes so full of jewels and ornaments that he looks like a clown.

ʼIs this guy the king?...ʼ just with that I already know not to expect much from the authorities of this kingdom. Along with the king comes a scary girl, she has long black hair, blood-red eyes with spiral pupils, and an extremely pale skin.

ʼIs this girl...human?ʼ She is beautiful but terrifying, her long black and white dress creates a unique contrast, she also has a dangerous aura as if she is someone you shouldnʼt mess with.

”Your Grace Grand Duchess, to what do we owe the honor of your visit?” The Saint bows to the scary girl, which surprises everyone since she didnʼt bow to the king.

”I just came to see... how the new heroes are,” she speaks calmly, her voice full of elegance and charm.

”...” She observes everyone for a time, while evaluating, then says something in a low voice to the Saint and leaves with the king.

After she leaves, the Saint sighs with relief.

ʼThe Saint...was afraid? Who is this girl to make the Saint bow to her, but not to the king?ʼ Iʼm filled with curiosity.

”W-Well, everyone, Iʼll give a brief explanation of the social positions for you,” she says as she begins to explain.

”In this kingdom, we have 11 official social classes, which are Commoner, Servant, Knight, Viscount, Baron, Count, Marquis, Duke, Prince/Princess, Grand Duke, King/Queen.”

1 = Commoner 2 = Servant 3 = Knight 4 = Viscount 5 = Baron 6 = Count 7 = Marquis 8 = Duke 9 = Prince/Princess 10 = Grand Duke 11 = King/Queen

”The people who just appeared were King Elion Silverhart and the Grand Duchess, the daughter of the Grand Duke.”

”Why did you bow to her and not to the king?” Sakura asks fearlessly, which leaves everyone in doubt.

”As I said, I am the Saint, my position has an influence equivalent to the kingʼs...but the Grand Duchess, she is... special, her family has the oldest lineage in the kingdom, her father could have been the King if he wanted to, his position as Grand Duke was his choice.”

”However, her authority is no less than that of the king and the church...and his daughter has the highest status above the crown prince and princess, as well as being a talented mage, her influence in this country is great, too great, and it is extremely difficult to stop her.”

”So avoid fighting with her...if you do, even the church wonʼt be able to protect you, she is one of the highest status people in the country along with her family.”

”You didnʼt say her name,” Tsubasa asks.

”I donʼt know...” Everyone is confused when the Saint says she doesnʼt know the name of one of the most important people in the kingdom.

”No one knows...the Grand Duke kept the young Grand Duchess locked up at home until she turned 13, when she turned that age, she formally attended her first ball, but her name has never been revealed, not by her or the Grand Duke, and clearly the king didnʼt want trouble by trying to question it too much.”

”Furthermore, the Grand Duchess is very well known even though they donʼt know her name, one of the things that made her best known when she first appeared was something surprising.”

”In addition to her beauty and incredible manners, what stood out the most was that the young Grand Duchess was already very strong from childhood.”

”I bet sheʼs not that great,” Yuki whispers, but the Saint hears it.

”It seems you have some doubts about the veracity of this, so Iʼll tell you the thing that quickly made the kingdom notice how strong the young Grand Duchess was in her childhood.”

”At the first party the young Grand Duchess appeared, she became notorious for instantly killing an elite royal guard who accidentally scratched her face” everyone is slightly shocked by what they heard.

ʼA 13-year-old child...killed someone instantly?ʼ

”The guard had a total power of 3500 and his level was 700, but he was cut in half from top to bottom without even realizing it.”

”No one in the room, except for a few elite guards, was able to see the young Grand Duchessʼs attack, but according to the guards, she instantly grabbed the guardʼs sword, cut him in two, and returned the sword, all in less than 0.3 seconds.”

”Seriously?”

”L-Lie...”

”I-Is that really possible?”

Almost everyone is shocked by what she said, if she did that as a child, imagine now.

ʼWait...sheʼs not a...mageʼ the realization hits me, how powerful is this girlʼs magic? Others seem to have reached my line of reasoning, this girl must be a monstrous powerful mage.

”Well, letʼs leave that aside, we need to take you to a specialized room to train and receive a brief history and geography lesson,” she says as she calls our teacher to talk to him.

”...” I notice the Saint giving me a look of disdain as I pass by her, but I ignore it and go with the others to the room, the class was...normal.

They talked about how the kingdom has been at war with the demons for over 800 years, they said that the Demon King started the war and in order to win, they summoned heroes who bravely fought on the front lines.

ʼThe Demon King is terrifyingʼ from what the man teaching us said, I can only think of how frightened I must be to face something like the monster he describes.

At least I know heʼs already dead and now there are only demons left, which are much weaker than the king, honestly I wonder how I can survive. The class ends after a lecture on what heroes do and a geography class to understand the continent.

Apparently, various races live on this continent, making me realize once again that this is a fantasy world.

”The class is over, so you can wander around the castle,” he says as everyone goes outside.

”Hey, come with me,” Kaito grabs me and takes me to a dark corner, the whole group of his friends came along.

”Hey, you useless one, you know you shouldnʼt even be here, right?” he says as he throws me to the ground.

”...”

”Tsk, you think Iʼll beat you less if you stay quiet, you trash,” he says as he spits in my face.

”Pay close attention, trash, this is something youʼll never be able to do,” He speaks after Yuki hands him an iron sword, and he bends it in half, showing how his physical strength in this world is monstrous.

”Donʼt worry, I wonʼt kill you, I donʼt want to dirty my clothes with the trash inside you.”

”We just want to test some things, donʼt we, guys?” Everyone agrees as some of them laugh at me, now that these 6 have powers, I know I will suffer in new ways.

”I want to go first, Iʼm super curious to use magic,” Yuki says as she says something, and her hand glows.

”Hmm Hmmmm glub-glub” A sphere of water forms around my head.

ʼI-I canʼt...breatheʼ when my consciousness is about to be cut off, she deactivates the magic, and a lot of water falls on my body.

Soon Yuki makes some kind of water gag while each one tests their magic on my body.

Hana burns my abdomen, while Kaito beats me with earth-based magic gloves, and Tsubasa makes a combination of 4 elements and uses it on my arm, breaking it.

”HMMMM MHHMMMMM” I scream in pain while being immobilized so I canʼt escape, the pain is terrible and I canʼt defend myself.

Soon some cuts are made on my leg with wind magic made by Sakura, and Kaori makes a combination of wind and water and creates a water sphere that, upon contact, cuts off one of my fingers and grinds it.

ʼYOU DAMNED SONS OF BITCHESʼ The pain is horrible, much worse than just being beaten as on Earth. Each of them tests magic on me as if I were a target.

”Hey, you,” I soon hear the Saintʼs voice behind the bullies.

ʼFinally, theyʼre going to stop thisʼ

”Tsk, you were supposed to be watching Yuki,” Tsubasa whispers as Yuki makes an indignant face.

”Take this,” the Saint says, throwing a sphere at Tsubasa.

”?” He looks visibly confused.

”...As long as he doesnʼt lose any limbs like his arm, this will heal him, go ahead,” The Saint says, walking away, making it clear that she doesnʼt care that Iʼm being tortured here.

They soon realize what this means and open an evil smile.

ʼHaar...how I wish I could kill them all...ʼ I think about this before they start torturing me again, this time more severely. In the end, we spent hours here, they tore off all my fingers, I have several cuts, and on the floor, thereʼs a pool of blood.

Being tortured for hours with magic has beaten the record of physical pain Iʼve felt in the last few months.

”Ugh, Iʼm bored, he doesnʼt even scream anymore,” Hana says as she leaves, while everyone agrees, Tsubasa uses the sphere on me and Iʼm healed, after that he leaves me alone, leaving me only with the hatred for them.
