The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 6: Starting to Inform Me

After taking a shower, she takes me to a room full of dresses. There are so many that I think itʼs incredibly excessive clearly there are more than 100 different dresses.

”How do you have my measurements?” I donʼt understand how Elena knows my measurements.

”During the bath, I took the measurements of your majesty and sent them so that the servants could make various models. I understand that the amount may be unsatisfactory and I apologize for the inability to do more,” she says while slightly bowing her head.

ʼWere all these clothes made...in less than 1 hour?ʼ I donʼt know how she calls that little.

”Itʼs no problem, in fact this amount is great, you did a good job,” I compliment her, and see her tail wagging excitedly.

”Thank you, your majesty.”

ʼ...How do I wear this?ʼ I look at the dresses, having no idea how to use them, so I decide to let Elena dress me.

”May I put the dresses on your majesty?” When I was going to tell her to help me, she asks to do exactly what I was going to ask.

”Of course.” She spends some time choosing a dress, and in the end she chooses a sleeveless black one that matches my body. I notice that she put a black ornament with a red spiral to match my eyes. Now she is putting the last part, which is my tail.

ʼHow will she put my tail in the dress? She didnʼt touch it to measure it.ʼ She places her hand over the dress area and I see that there is a part to put the tail without ruining the design.

”Hyaan”

”...”

ʼImpossible, I let out that cute moan?ʼ As soon as she touched my tail, I felt strange. For some reason, my tail is super sensitive, which doesnʼt even make sense, since I dismembered someone with it, so how can it be so sensitive to the touch?

”Hmm” My moan is so cute that it annoys me.

”PLEASE BE CAREFUL” I yell at her as she keeps touching my tail. I know sheʼs just trying to help, but I donʼt want to keep making those sounds.

”I apologize, your majesty, but I have to...hold your tail to put it on the dress...”

”...Do it quickly.”

”Hyuunnn” She puts my tail on and quickly adjusts it in the dress.

ʼF-Finally itʼs over.ʼ After dressing me, Elena steps back and bows her head to the floor.

”?”

”Your majesty, please punish me for my mistake. Iʼm sorry for carelessly touching your body,” she says, while waiting.

”...Punish?” I donʼt understand why sheʼs being so extreme, I just wanted her to do it quickly and Iʼm not even mad at her.

”No need, get up and explain the... situation to me.”

”Thank you for your benevolence, your majesty. Then letʼs go to the dining room and Iʼll explain the current situation of the demons.”

We start walking through the mansion, and I notice itʼs a bit empty.

”Are you short on servants?” In the kingʼs castle, there were servants for everything, so I thought it would be the same here.

”No, your majesty. In our culture, weʼll only have as many servants as needed to satisfy all our needs. Although some have many servants, most prefer to maintain just the necessary, which avoids traitors and disguised assassins.”

ʼSo itʼs more a matter of security...ʼ

”The demons seem to be doing well...” I say to her, noticing how beautiful the mansion is, even the floor is so detailed that it seems like a work of art.

”...Iʼm not very sure about that, after all, the demon population is dropping rapidly because of the humans.”

”Why did the demons start a war with the humans?” I feel like a child asking so many questions, but I need to know more, and technically Iʼm a baby since I was just born a few hours ago.

”We didnʼt start it, the humans decided to exterminate us when we didnʼt have a king. Demons are a chaotic and disorderly race, several high-ranking demons tried to unite the demons so we wouldnʼt be exterminated...”

”It didnʼt work out because most demons only obey the Demon King. The Demon King is the chosen one of our Goddess, so heʼs the only being who should give orders to the others. Any other demon doesnʼt have the right to rule.”

”So will all the demons obey me?” I ask with doubt.

”Not all, but a large part will obey your majesty.”

”How many demons know Iʼm alive?” Iʼm curious about how many besides her know about me.

”All the demons and monsters know that your majesty was born.”

”...Yes? How do they know that?”

”As soon as your majesty was born, all the demons and monsters became stronger. This is also a reason why normal demons are at a disadvantage against humans in a fight. Without a Demon King, the power of demons decreases.”

”What did the previous Demon King give up on doing?” The Goddess said the previous Demon King gave up, but what exactly did he give up on?

”...Everything. He gave up on doing anything and just stayed in his castle, having fun. The humans took advantage of this fact and were able to advance in the war. Also, although human Heroes have a much lower status than the Demon King, they are still a threat because of their unique abilities.”

”Is that serious? I thought the Heroes were almost on the same level as the Demon King.”

”Yes, itʼs very serious. The status of a Hero is much lower, but in a fight, skill and strategy are as important as status, and thatʼs why the unique abilities of the Heroes are so problematic.”

”The demons...did they like the previous king?”

”...”

”...No, he abandoned our Goddess. Although we still obeyed him and were loyal, we didnʼt like him. He isolated himself and just had fun, completely abandoning our Goddess.”

”Why didnʼt the Goddess punish him?” The Goddess of the Abyss seemed very strong when she spoke to me.

”...She didnʼt want to. Our Goddess said in an oracle that she chose the Demon King. If the Demon King abandoned her, then the fault is hers for making a bad choice... to me, this is not right, he should not have abandoned our Goddess.”

”I understand, thatʼs quite sad.”

ʼI wonʼt abandon the Goddess of the Abyss. Unlike everyone else, she extended her hand to me. One of the few things I have left is knowing how to be grateful. As long as the Goddess trusts me, I will trust her.ʼ

”What was the previous Demon King like?”

”A beautiful girl with blonde hair and amethyst eyes, she had...” When she was going to speak, I interrupt.

”Wait...a girl?” In the description of the book in the castle, the Demon King was an abomination.

”Yes, your majesty. All Demon Kings are beautiful girls, although usually when they go into combat, they use some abilities that make them appear like monsters in the eyes of humans.”

”...So what happened to the previous Demon Kings?”

”Many of them...chose to renounce the position of Demon King.”

”Is there a reason for that?” Now Iʼm afraid Iʼve gotten into a trap.

”Actually, no. Many of them simply didnʼt want to have our Goddess as a Goddess anymore because they were too strong, so they renounced the position of Demon King and left.”

”Why? The Goddess of the Abyss did them a favor by giving them power, so why abandon her?”

”...Ingratitude, your majesty. A large part of the Demon Kings had no gratitude for our Goddess, and after a few years they simply wanted to abandon her.”

”You donʼt think Iʼll be like them?” I would never step on the great favor the Goddess did for me, but thereʼs no way for her to know that.

”Your majesty would not do that, because your majesty is different from the others. You are a daughter of the Abyss.”

”...Daughter of the Abyss?” I donʼt know what that means.

”Normally the Goddess chooses a being as the Demon King, but sometimes the Demon King is someone born directly from the power of the Goddess. The easiest way to explain it is that your majesty is a daughter of the Goddess.”

”To simplify, a normal Demon King is born from some other demon, while a daughter of the Abyss is born from an Abyss egg that is given to us by the Goddess. The egg containing your majesty was delivered to us on October 14th and was born a week later.”

ʼSo itʼs been about 10 days since I died...ʼ

”Thatʼs why I know you wonʼt be ungrateful to our Goddess, because your majesty is a daughter of the Goddess.”

”...”

ʼThe Goddess...is my mother...Wowʼ This really surprises me, I never expected the Goddess to make me a relative of hers.

”So the Goddess is my mother, I didnʼt know that.”

”Yes, normally the Goddess does not speak directly to the world, and it is difficult for her to access the world because of the Goddess of the Humans who interferes. However, she can still send oracles, so if your majesty wants to talk to your mother, you can try going to our cathedral.”

”Interesting, Iʼll try that in the future.” In a way, this cheers me up. I lost my mother and know I canʼt get her back, but now I have another mother. It doesnʼt matter that I have old memories, it doesnʼt change the fact that the Goddess is now my mother.

I will never lose my love for my old mother, but that doesnʼt mean I canʼt love the new mother I have. In fact, Iʼm already very grateful to her for giving me the opportunity to come back to life.

After this conversation, we arrive at the banquet hall, with some servants waiting in position.

”Can I sit wherever I want?” There are several covered dishes on the table, so I guess weʼre having a meal.

”Of course, your majesty, you can choose any seat you want.”

I walk to the table and sit in one of the chairs, while moving my tail to the right and placing it under the table.

Clap Clap.

A maid claps twice and all the others remove the covers from the meal. The aroma is great, and although by appearance and smell I can tell that almost all the dishes are made of humans.

I start my meal while Elena begins to explain the current situation of the demons in the ongoing war.

”Currently the state of the demons is quite poor. Without anyone to lead the demons, they are very scattered, so they are usually eliminated by the humans, who continue to advance into our territory.”

”Unfortunately, we received the news that they have summoned Heroes.”

”Elena, do you have any informants among the humans?” I donʼt know how they already know there are Heroes among the humans.

”Yes, your majesty. This informant was placed in the kingdom more than 800 years ago. He is a homunculus and the current Grand Duke of the kingdom. Also, during the Goddessʼ oracle 500 years ago, she said that her daughter would have black hair, red eyes with spiral pupils, and pale skin. So the homunculus started making his ”Daughter” look like the description, so that when your majesty was born, you could replace the homunculus-like one.”

ʼSo...the Grand Duchess is a homunculus?ʼ Now that sheʼs said it, I really notice that the Grand Duchess looks a lot like me, except for the fact that I have an angelic halo and a tail.

”How many daughters has the Goddess already had?”

”With your majesty, there will be two, but your sister was sealed by the Goddess of the Humans, and we donʼt know where she is.”

ʼSo I have an older sister...Iʼd love to meet her.ʼ I think the idea of having a sibling is pretty cool.

”Why didnʼt you kill the Heroes?” The Grand Duchess clearly has the strength to eliminate them without any problems.

”Itʼs not a good idea yet, your majesty. If the immature Heroes are eliminated now, the kingdom will summon more. However, the essence of the old Heroes will merge with the new ones, making the new ones more powerful. The best choice is to let the Heroes get stronger and kill them within our territory.”

”So...if I stay in place of the homunculus...”

”Your majesty can discover the strengths and weaknesses of the Heroes, and can control the growth of the Heroes in your favor, making them follow paths that will give them a disadvantage in a fight. Although your majesty is much stronger than them, the unique abilities are still a great threat that cannot be ignored.”

”I see...”

”What we recommend is that your majesty divide your time, spending some time in the demonic kingdom and some time with the Heroes. Our mansion has methods to prevent any human from discovering that your majesty is the Demon King.”

”You donʼt mind that Iʼll go to the human kingdom?”

”...Honestly, I donʼt want your majesty to spend your time with the humans. I would like you to stay with us... but this is just my selfishness. My duty is to assist your majesty, so Iʼm talking about this plan.”
