Stronger by Paying Salaries and I Have 1 Billion Employees

Chapter 38: Chapter 37: You Wouldn’t Want Your Boyfriend to Know About Us, Would You?

Chen Yansen put down his phone. Seeing Wang Zihao, he realized he wasn’t in his dorm room, but in a hotel.

”Zihao, wake up!”

Chen Yansen got out of bed and lightly kicked the still-sleeping Wang Zihao.

”What the fuck! I’m dead tired. Can’t you just let me sleep a little longer?”

Wang Zihao mumbled, his eyes heavy with sleep, before clutching his head and burrowing back under the covers.

”The commission’s in!”

Chen Yansen raised his voice and roared right into Wang Zihao’s ear.

”You son of a bitch, Chen Yansen! What did you say? No, no, no, Brother Sen, I was just talking in my sleep.”

Wang Zihao jolted and shot up from the bed, completely bare except for a pair of boxer shorts.

”Come with me to the bank.”

Chen Yansen couldn’t bear to look at him. He tossed the words over his shoulder and walked into the bathroom.

”Chen...”

As Wang Zihao’s head gradually cleared, he scrambled to get dressed, all while shooting Chen Yansen a strange look. He opened his mouth to speak, but then forcefully swallowed his words.

’Last night, when Chen Yansen was drunk, he kept muttering Wang Ziyan’s name. He’s an absolute animal! My sister is only fourteen, and this guy’s already got his eyes on her?’

”What did you want?”

Chen Yansen asked, poking his head out while brushing his teeth.

”Oh, nothing. I just... wanted to ask what you want for breakfast. I can go downstairs and get it now to save some time.”

Wang Zihao hesitated for a few seconds before hastily making up an excuse.

”Hot milk, a multi-grain flatbread, and add two eggs.”

Chen Yansen didn’t give it much thought, replying casually before continuing to wash up.

As he pushed the door open to leave, Wang Zihao thought to himself with an increasingly firm gaze, ’Oh, Jensen... It’s not that I don’t want to be your brother-in-law, but you’re just too much of a scumbag. Even when Ziyan comes of age in four years, I’ll have to keep you two from meeting.’

Chen Yansen stood before the bathroom mirror, sizing himself up. Suddenly, he let out a self-deprecating laugh. ’You really are scared of her, dreaming that she’s hounding you about marriage.’

’This lifetime, there’s no way in hell I’m falling for that again!’

Before long, Wang Zihao returned with breakfast. After they finished eating, they drove straight to a bank in the city center.

Chen Yansen handed over his bank card and successfully withdrew 230,000 in cash. He immediately tossed two stacks to Wang Zihao.

”Brother Sen, you gave me two thousand extra.”

Wang Zihao said with a smile, cradling the cash.

From the start of this venture, Chen Yansen had promised him a five percent commission.

”Consider the extra a bonus. Announce it in the agent group chat: meeting at ten o’clock in Cafeteria No. 1 to hand out commissions!”

Chen Yansen was in no mood for pleasantries. He stuffed the money into a bag, grabbed it, and got into the Benz.

’Handing out cash is such a pain back in these days, without all the mobile payment options.’

”By the way, Brother Sen, what are you going to do with that watch you originally planned to give Zhao Maolin?”

Wang Zihao was worried he’d miss the return window.

”Forget it. I’ll just make do and wear it.”

After a moment of thought, Chen Yansen casually strapped the Rolex Explorer to his wrist without giving it a second glance.

’In his past life, he wore either a Vacheron Constantin or a Patek Philippe. Rolex might be famous, but it didn’t quite suit his style.’

”Holy shit! A watch worth over sixty thousand, and you call that ’making do’?”

Wang Zihao pursed his lips. ’This bastard Chen Yansen,’ he thought, ’is so damn pretentious.’

The round trip from Xucheng School to the city took an hour. By the time Chen Yansen parked the car and walked into the cafeteria, nearly fifty of his tier-two agents had been waiting for quite some time.

”Brother Sen!”

”Senior!”

”...”

WHOOSH! A whole section of them shot to their feet in unison, faces beaming as they all greeted Chen Yansen.

Some of them, despite knowing Chen Yansen was only a freshman, still enthusiastically called him ”Senior.”

At this time of day, the only other people in the cafeteria were a few of the kitchen ladies. Seeing the scene, they wondered to themselves, ’Who is this kid? He’s got quite the entourage!’

Waving his hand, Chen Yansen walked into the middle of the crowd, sat down at a dining table, and spoke in a forceful tone, ”We’ll go by the list. When I call your name, come forward.”

SLAP!

Two hundred and ten thousand in cash was dumped onto the tabletop as if it were garbage.

”Fuck! That’s so much money!”

”Brother Sen looks so damn cool throwing cash around. He’s even more of a badass than Chow Yun-Fat!”

”Haha, Brother Sen is definitely cooler. It’s not like Chow Yun-Fat is going to give us a penny.”

The agents instantly exploded into an uproar, chattering amongst themselves.

Not far away, the cafeteria ladies were equally dumbfounded, their eyes glued to the pile of cash.

”Li Hui!”

Chen Yansen’s list was sorted in descending order of campus card sales. The first name was the top seller from the previous team of campus representatives—Li Hui.

”542 cards, commission is 27,100.”

Chen Yansen gestured for Wang Zihao to count out the money. He knew that out of those 542 cards, Li Hui himself had probably sold only a small fraction; most of the sales came from the tier-three agents under him.

After deducting the commissions for his own team, Li Hui would still pocket at least twelve thousand. For a university student in 2010, that was an absolute fortune.

Everyone looked on with undisguised envy.

”Thank you, Brother Sen. Thank you, Brother Hao.”

Li Hui took the money, bowing slightly as he thanked them again and again.

He was a junior this year and would be a senior next year. This was the most money he had ever made from the campus card business, and it would also be his last time doing it.

”Don’t thank me. You earned it.”

Chen Yansen gave a faint smile and a wave of his hand, then called the next name.

Hundreds of thousands in cash seemed like a lot, but after being divided among dozens of agents, the pile on the table was nearly gone in just over half an hour. Only a handful of loose bills remained.

Amid a constant stream of gratitude and flattery, a few of the more perceptive tier-two agents pulled the pair aside, insisting on treating them to a meal.

”Zihao, go chat with the sophomore agents. Don’t act all high and mighty. There might be a student council director, or even the president, among them.”

Chen Yansen didn’t want to go, so he stopped Wang Zihao to give him these low-voiced instructions.

They had to run the campus card business again next year, and the current sophomores would be the backbone of that operation. They needed to strengthen their relationships with them. Furthermore, they could leverage their connections within the various departments to help Wang Zihao get into his departmental student council.

”Okay, I get it.”

Wang Zihao nodded to himself, then took several of the top-performing agents with him, chatting and laughing as they left the cafeteria.

”Song Yuncheng, where are you going?”

Chen Yansen spotted Song Yuncheng in the crowd. Amused by her furtive attempt to sneak away, he called out to her abruptly.

”I... I’m going back to my dorm.”

Seeing that she couldn’t get away, Song Yuncheng stopped and braced herself to answer. Her watery eyes betrayed a hint of fear, as if she was afraid Chen Yansen would say something inappropriate.

”I’m hungry. Buy me lunch.”

Chen Yansen said in a soft voice, his eyes landing on her slightly chapped lips.

’She’s clearly worked hard to sell all those cards,’ he thought.

”Oh. Is the cafeteria okay?”

The corners of Song Yuncheng’s mouth drooped in a visible pout. ’Others offer to take you to a nice restaurant and you refuse,’ she fumed internally, ’but you insist on bleeding a poor girl like me dry.’

’He’s just picking on an honest person!’

”Sigh. Fine.”

Chen Yansen frowned with a look of disdain, but seeing the pained expression on her face, he nodded anyway.

”Then hurry up.”

Song Yuncheng grabbed two trays and led the way to the service counter, a hint of impatience in her expression.

”What do you want to eat? We’ll use my card later.”

Song Yuncheng said softly, gesturing to the rows of steaming dishes.

”The large shrimp, pork ribs, beef, stir-fried chicken... and let’s get two steamed eggs and an order of greens, too.”

Chen Yansen patted his stomach, deliberately picking the most expensive items.

”Little Orange, is this your... boyfriend? He’s quite a handsome young man.”

The cafeteria lady saw them approach and immediately came over with a serving spoon. She froze for a second when she recognized Chen Yansen as the student who had been handing out all that cash earlier, then she broke into a smile and asked her question.

”Aunt Wang, no, he’s...”

Song Yuncheng’s heart twinged as she looked at the dishes Chen Yansen had ordered—all things she could never bear to buy for herself.

Hearing Aunt Wang’s question, she rushed to deny it, only to get stuck when it came time to explain who Chen Yansen was.

”Aunt Wang, Little Orange is just shy,” Chen Yansen cut in with a grin. ”I love meat, so please give me an extra-large portion.”

”Don’t you worry,” Aunt Wang said with a hearty laugh. ”This auntie’s hand is steady. No Parkinson’s here.”

Thinking Chen Yansen was Song Yuncheng’s boyfriend, she practically gave him a double portion with every scoop.

’Who says cafeteria ladies only know how to shake the spoon? This one is awesome!’

As soon as they sat down with their trays, Chen Yansen ordered Song Yuncheng, ”Little Orange, peel a shrimp for me.”

”Call me Senior Sister Song!”

Song Yuncheng was so angry she ground her teeth, snarling at him.

”Do you still want to be a campus agent next year?”

Chen Yansen asked nonchalantly, narrowing his eyes. The threat in his voice was unmistakable.

”Give up! I have a boyfriend!”

Song Yuncheng jutted out her chin and growled, much like she had the first time they met.

”You wouldn’t want your boyfriend to find out that you kissed me just to get the campus agent deal, would you?”

Chen Yansen didn’t believe her for a second. Jiang Ruoxuan had already sold her out completely.

”I never kissed you!”

Song Yuncheng was dumbfounded. She had never met someone so shameless, someone who could tell such a barefaced lie.

Their eyes locked.

A minute later, Song Yuncheng obediently picked up a shrimp and began to roughly peel it.

Chen Yansen smiled slightly and called up his system panel.

’You damn thing! Add the points!’

The moment the thought formed, a strand of white mist, as thick as a pen refill, shot into the space between his eyebrows.

A bone-chilling cold instantly raged through his blood, causing his muscles to tremble. Once the coldness completely dissipated, a scorching heat, like a blazing sun, erupted from his heart and surged through his limbs in the blink of an eye.

His Physique stat rose from ’1.17’ to ’1.38’, and his Kindling was once again depleted.

”Ooh, that feels good—”

Chen Yansen couldn’t help but let out a sigh, muttering to himself.

Hearing his strange noise, Song Yuncheng’s face immediately flushed, her eyes growing moist as she thought to herself, ’Chen Yansen is a total pervert!’
