Stronger by Paying Salaries and I Have 1 Billion Employees

Chapter 37: Chapter 36: Earning 370,000 in Two Days! 20 Points of Human Dao Fire

After leaving Huamao, Chen Yansen swung by an agency to pick up the account opening documents for Senhai.

”You opened a company?”

Wang Zihao’s mouth hung open, his face full of surprise.

He had wanted to tell Chen Yansen he’d been elected class president last night, but now that he knew the other man was a company owner, it suddenly didn’t feel like much to brag about.

”It’s just a shell company for now. Not a single employee yet.”

Though that’s what Chen Yansen said, the widening smile on his face made it clear he was in high spirits and had great expectations for Senhai’s future.

”Right, what were you about to say?”

Chen Yansen turned the wheel left, pulling onto Victory Road and driving toward the service center.

”We had a class meeting yesterday. The counselor had us run for class president, and I got the most votes.”

Wang Zihao composed himself and said with a grin.

”Congratulations! You’re going to get an even darker tan now! I even had a doctor’s note ready for you, but it looks like you won’t be needing it.”

Chen Yansen smiled faintly and said with a hint of regret.

”A doctor’s note?”

Wang Zihao froze for a second, then pressed, ”You’re not planning to attend the military training?”

”Senhai’s paperwork just came through. I have to get busy finding a location and buying computers and servers. How could I have time to sunbathe with you guys?”

Chen Yansen said with a teasing smile.

This was another reason he didn’t want to be class president. After all, with that title, Guo Dongchen would never have approved his leave so easily.

”Then...”

Wang Zihao stammered, managing to squeeze out only a single word before falling silent again.

”The initial phase is just prep work. Once the project goes live, I’ll definitely bring you in for the big stuff, don’t worry.”

Chen Yansen glanced at him and said seriously.

Even if Wang Zihao hadn’t said anything, he would have pulled him in anyway. Because one more employee meant one more source of Human Dao Fire.

As they spoke, the entrance to the service center gradually came into view.

Chen Yansen parked the car, straightened his collar, and strode inside, with Wang Zihao following close behind.

”Sister Wenwen, long time no see. Give me a hug.”

Chen Yansen opened his arms and moved toward Gu Wenwen.

”Cut it out! We just saw each other yesterday! Manager Zhao is in his office, you can go right in.”

Gu Wenwen slapped his hands away and shot him a playful glare.

”See you later.”

Chen Yansen gave a crisp wave, walked around Gu Wenwen, and headed straight for the office.

”Well, well! Junior Brother Chen is here! You should have called ahead; I would have met you at the door.”

Hearing the commotion, Zhao Maolin came out. He first patted Chen Yansen’s shoulder, then put an arm around him and led him into the office, nodding at Wang Zihao as a greeting.

”Brother Zhao, you’re too kind. If you talk like that, I won’t dare to visit next time.”

Chen Yansen grasped Zhao Maolin’s hand, looking the very picture of brotherly affection.

”Xiaochen, what kind of tea would you like?”

Zhao Maolin pulled open a cabinet, revealing a dense row of tea caddies. Each was exquisitely and luxuriously packaged, with labels showing the names of the teas.

”Houkui, I guess.”

Chen Yansen gave them a casual glance and replied nonchalantly, then sat down on the sofa.

Zhao Maolin gave Chen Yansen a meaningful look, then asked Wang Zihao for his preference before unhurriedly starting to prepare the tea.

Meeting again, Zhao Maolin’s secret observation of Chen Yansen became even more meticulous. From his posture and demeanor to his preference in tea and the way he held his cup, he was nothing like a child from a humble family.

The two chatted quietly while sipping their tea.

Zhao Maolin seemed casual, but he kept steering the conversation toward domestic and international economic trends. He had thought he could expose some of Chen Yansen’s weaknesses, but to his surprise, the young man handled it with ease. He even used some professional terms that Zhao Maolin himself had never heard.

Zhao Maolin laughed awkwardly and quickly changed the subject. ”Xiaochen, what are your thoughts on the mobile network sector?”

The telecommunications industry was a field he had been deeply involved in for over a decade, so he was naturally more familiar with it.

”The golden age of the mobile internet is coming! The PC business will definitely go into a gradual decline. In the future, the average person’s demand for a mobile phone might even far exceed their need for a computer.”

’Heh.’ Chen Yansen sneered inwardly. Zhao Maolin’s strange behavior had put him on alert. He guessed the man had likely used some connections to probe into his background.

’But he didn’t get the full picture, so now he’s trying to test my mettle.’

”Oh? And what’s your basis for that?”

Zhao Maolin remained noncommittal, his tone flat as he pressed for more.

”Across the ocean, Sprint Company is using the latest microwave interconnect technology to conduct small-scale 4G base station tests in California. Our own three major domestic carriers are making similar moves.”

”The jump from 3G to 4G means internet speeds will get faster and faster. Take phones, for example. This year’s network can only load images and text, but in the future, a phone might as well be a small laptop.”

Chen Yansen spoke with eloquence and confidence.

In his past life, he often went drinking and shooting the shit with the bosses in Hu City’s circles, and they would talk about everything.

In those situations, if you couldn’t keep up with the conversation, you wouldn’t necessarily be mocked, but you would inevitably be looked down upon.

And Chen Yansen had been the best of them all at both bullshitting and putting on an act.

By now, Zhao Maolin had completely dismissed the idea of withholding Chen Yansen’s commission from the top-up rebates. Even if the young man truly had no family background, his ability, knowledge, and accurate judgment of the current situation alone guaranteed he would be successful in the future.

There was no need to make an enemy over a mere few hundred thousand yuan.

Besides, if he made a gesture of goodwill, he might gain a capable ally.

”Xiaochen, come work for me after you graduate. I’ll arrange a good position and official status for you. Interested?”

Zhao Maolin thought for a moment before asking with a solemn expression. He was genuinely moved by the young man’s talent.

”Then I thank you for the offer, Brother Zhao.”

Chen Yansen didn’t refuse—there was no need to. Inwardly, however, he was thinking: ’Work for you? Wouldn’t that mean I was reborn for nothing?’

Speaking of phones, Zhao Maolin seemed to remember something. He picked up his phone and gave a few instructions. Less than two minutes later, Gu Wenwen walked in carrying two boxes.

”The newest smartphone from the Lighthouse Country—the Apple 4. You young people should like it.”

Zhao Maolin introduced them with a chuckle, handing over two phones worth five thousand yuan each.

”Brother Zhao, could you trouble yourself to get two more? The white ones.”

Chen Yansen’s eyes lit up. He’d been wanting to ditch his Noaki N78 for a while. Even though the Apple 4 was just electronic trash in his eyes, it was still way better than the Symbian OS.

Zhao Maolin’s expression froze. This kid really didn’t hold back. Four phones would be over twenty thousand yuan. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret.

”Brother Zhao, I’ll pay for them myself.”

Chen Yansen noticed his hesitation and quickly added.

”Xiaochen, now you’re being a stranger. Aren’t you just slapping your big brother in the face? Xiaogu, get Junior Brother Chen two more, the white ones.”

Though his heart ached a little at the cost, Zhao Maolin put on a stern face and spoke with magnanimous flair.

Chen Yansen accepted them readily, not standing on ceremony with Zhao Maolin. He knew very well that the man stood to make a hefty profit off him.

’Hmph, these phones should have been mine to begin with!’

After that, he and Wang Zihao stayed in Zhao Maolin’s office until dusk. Then the three of them drove together to the parking lot of the Star of the Milky Way.

As expected of the biggest KTV lounge in Xucheng, the interior was resplendent and incredibly luxurious. The girls the manager brought over were all stunningly beautiful, with curvy, well-proportioned figures.

”Third from the left. Go sit next to my brother. He likes them big.”

Chen Yansen leaned back casually on the sofa, pointing at a girl in the front row. His tone and posture were those of a seasoned regular at such places, without a trace of awkwardness or embarrassment.

Back then, the hyper-competitive trend sparked by the live-streaming industry hadn’t started yet. The girls in these clubs, whether in looks or figure, were a cut above those from a decade or so later.

”Junior Brother Chen, you have to enjoy yourself to the fullest tonight!”

Zhao Maolin loosened his tie, raised his glass, and yelled loudly.

”Zihao, don’t just drink. At least get your hands on her. Brother Zhao paid good money, so don’t let his kind gesture go to waste.”

Chen Yansen clinked glasses with Zhao Maolin. Seeing Wang Zihao’s timid and frightened expression, he couldn’t help but tease him with a smile.

”What’s wrong? My little brother is shy, but are you fucking shy too?”

Zhao Maolin strode over, his eyes burning with anger, and asked with a dark expression.

Startled, the girl grabbed Wang Zihao’s hand and pressed it against her perky rear.

”Hahaha! Now that’s more like it!”

Zhao Maolin tugged at his collar, shaking his head and swaying his hips to the music. He was like a completely different person from the manager he was during the day.

”Brother Zhao, I picked this out especially for you. It really suits your style.”

At the right moment, Chen Yansen took out a watch and moved to fasten it onto Zhao Maolin’s wrist, his movements extremely practiced.

”No, no, no! I really can’t accept this.”

Zhao Maolin hastily shook his head and refused. He had, of course, seen the receipt in the box and instantly understood the other’s intention.

’If I accept this, where’s the favor? Doesn’t this just become a transaction?’

”Brother Zhao, I sincerely want to give it to you.”

Chen Yansen pushed it forward, his expression earnest.

”Junior Brother Chen, I sincerely cannot accept it either. How can our brotherly bond be measured in money?”

Zhao Maolin put down his glass and said with a stern, serious expression.

”It was my mistake. I’ll drink a glass as punishment!”

Chen Yansen understood. The man wanted a favor owed to him. It was still a transaction, but a much more respectable one.

The drinking party didn’t finally break up until one in the morning.

”Brother Sen, it’s 2,000 yuan for one girl? Just for a few hours?”

Wang Zihao got into the car and complained in a hushed voice, his face a mask of pain over the expense.

Naturally, Chen Yansen had paid for the night’s expenses.

Zhao Maolin hadn’t accepted the watch and had even given him four extra phones. It was only right and proper for Chen Yansen to return the favor.

”Driver, to the east campus of Xucheng Academy.”

Chen Yansen didn’t reply. He told the designated driver their destination, then closed his eyes and leaned back in his seat to rest.

This body was young, after all, and hadn’t been tempered by many drinking sessions. After a whole night of drinking, his head was already groggy.

Before long, he was fast asleep.

Wang Zihao, however, wasn’t the least bit sleepy. His mind replayed the warm, soft, smooth feeling, along with the two-thousand-yuan price tag. For the first time, he felt a flicker of regret, secretly hating himself for not touching her a bit longer.

...

...

The next morning, Chen Yansen rubbed his throbbing head and casually grabbed the phone from his bedside. The moment he saw the text message, he broke into a wide grin.

”Your account ending in 0129 received a deposit of 582,400.00 yuan on September 4th at 08:03. Current balance: 682,846.40 yuan...”

The commission from the campus cards had arrived!

After deducting the commission for the sub-agents, he had netted three hundred and seventy thousand yuan from this venture, plus 20 points of Human Dao Fire!
