Stronger by Paying Salaries and I Have 1 Billion Employees

Chapter 33: Chapter 32: But I’m Your Senior, Junior

Hearing the noise at the door, the guys all looked over in unison.

”Want a drink?”

Chen Yansen suggested with a brilliant smile, holding snacks in one hand and beer in the other.

”I... I can’t drink.”

Song Yang said hesitantly, sitting on his bed.

He had a bit of social anxiety and felt that he and Chen Yansen had only exchanged greetings so far. They weren’t familiar enough to sit and drink together yet.

’Can’t drink?’

’What a load of bullshit!’

In his past life, when he had passed through Qin Island, the two of them had polished off a dozen Pabst Blue Ribbon 1844s while standing on crates. Back then, Song Yang had merely loosened his belt, his face not even flushing.

”Cut the crap! Either you get your ass down here, or I’m coming up.”

Chen Yansen grinned, his threat blatant.

”Brother Sen, I’ll drink with you.”

Zhu Xiaopeng, who had just badmouthed Chen Yansen twice in a row, felt guilty and thought he should make a gesture. He was the first to respond, sidling over with a huge smile on his face.

”Fuck! It’s not like I can sleep anyway. It’s so hot, and this dorm room doesn’t even have an electric fan. This is fucking ridiculous!”

Tang Zhenzhe cursed as he got out of bed, took a can of beer, and chugged a large mouthful.

Chen Yansen laid his suitcase flat and dumped out all the snacks in one go. The pile was huge, easily worth two or three hundred yuan.

”My fellow townsman is so generous! Save me a chicken leg!”

Wang Zhengqiang nimbly hopped out of bed, dragged over a chair, and praised Chen Yansen. After speaking, he didn’t forget to turn his head to the remaining two. ”Bo Bo, Yangyang, you’re the only ones left.”

Meng Xibo and Song Yang glanced at each other, then stopped hesitating. They said their thanks and joined the circle.

”Chen... Brother Sen, it looks like you made a killing as a campus card agent, huh?”

Meng Xibo raised his beer and gently clinked it against Chen Yansen’s before cautiously inquiring.

Whether in his speech, mannerisms, or clothing, Chen Yansen seemed more mature than the others.

Add to that an 800,000-yuan Mercedes-Benz and his height of 1.84 meters, and in their eyes, Chen Yansen seemed to have the natural aura of a big boss.

Meng Xibo hesitated for a moment, then followed Zhu Xiaopeng’s lead and started calling him ’Brother Sen’.

”Not that much, really. Just enough to cover the legwork.”

Chen Yansen replied perfunctorily.

He knew that the fact he could earn 150,000 yuan a day would be too much of a shock for them. After all, their monthly living expenses were only five or six hundred yuan for some, and two thousand at most for others.

”Brother Sen, I heard from some other guys from our hometown that you give them a 50-yuan commission for every card they help you sell.”

Meng Xibo didn’t believe him at all, because he had already learned about the commission rates for campus cards through the hometown association.

”You want to sell campus cards? Sure, no problem. Come find me at the China Telecom event booth tomorrow.”

Chen Yansen heard the hidden meaning in Meng Xibo’s words and didn’t want to beat around the bush, so he addressed it directly.

”Thanks, Brother Sen. I’ll treat you to a meal sometime.”

Meng Xibo was slightly stunned. He hadn’t expected Chen Yansen to agree so readily.

As for why he didn’t get the phone cards from a senior, the reason was simple: he didn’t want to have his cut taken by a middleman.

”Brother Sen, can I do it too?”

Seeing this, Zhu Xiaopeng’s eyes flashed with interest, and he asked with a fawning smile.

Chen Yansen glanced at them. Other than Song Yang, the hidden tycoon, the rest all looked tempted. It was just that some chose to speak up, while others held back to save face.

’Damn it,’ he thought. ’I was just planning to catch up with my old classmates, but I’ve somehow turned this into a recruitment fair for agents.’

After a moment of thought, he spoke up. ”Anyone who wants to sell campus cards, just come find me at the Telecom event booth tomorrow. Let’s drop this topic for now. How about we talk about Ah Qiang’s love life? Did you end up ’losing your body’ or not?”

”Tsk, tsk, tsk, you guys have such dirty minds. What I meant was, I finally caved under the pressure and gave away my first kiss.”

Wang Zhengqiang said with a mischievous grin, taking a sip of beer.

”Tch—you’re so lame!”

Tang Zhenzhe, who had been waiting in anticipation, felt like he’d been played and immediately shot back.

”Anyone with a dirty mind should go face a wall and reflect on their mistakes!”

This was exactly the effect Wang Zhengqiang wanted. He burst out laughing.

Tang Zhenzhe rolled his eyes, muttered ”Boring,” and turned to Chen Yansen, asking curiously, ”Do you really have a Mercedes E300?”

”I rented it.”

Chen Yansen answered truthfully.

However, the others just looked at each other, not believing a word he said.

Sometimes, life is just that frustrating. When you lie, people believe you. When you tell the truth, they refuse to believe you no matter what.

Setting aside the topics of campus card agents and luxury cars, there was still plenty for them to talk about. The conversation flowed from games to manga, from novels to movies, and from interesting sports stories to Neon’s action film actors.

Finally, a wave of knowing laughter filled the room.

...

...

The next morning, Chen Yansen woke up in a daze.

’This pack of animals,’ he thought, rubbing his eyes. ’As soon as it hit midnight, there was snoring, teeth grinding, and sleep talking. This dorm room sounds like a barnyard.’

Chen Yansen grumbled to himself, rubbing his eyes.

During last night’s drinking session, everyone had sworn they never snored. Turns out, they’d just never heard themselves snore.

Chen Yansen got out of bed, grabbed his toiletries, and went into the bathroom.

When he came back from brushing his teeth and washing his face, the other five were still sound asleep.

Chen Yansen changed into a set of clean, fresh clothes and headed for the Telecom booth on Xue Lin Road. On his way past the cafeteria, he grabbed a few breakfast meals.

As he got closer, he saw a familiar figure from behind.

”Xiaochen, perfect timing. These two students want to sell campus cards part-time. You can talk to them.”

Gu Wenwen waved as soon as she saw Chen Yansen, then unceremoniously picked up one of the breakfasts and started eating.

”Chen... Chen Yansen, this is Jiang Ruoxuan, a third-year senior. We want to be second-level agents for China Telecom.”

Song Yuncheng felt a little awkward, but when she thought about how the first two days were the crucial sales period for campus cards, she had no choice but to muster her courage and explain.

China Telecom had attracted the vast majority of new students with its super-affordable plans. She and Jiang Ruoxuan were agents for China Unicom, which already had the disadvantage of poor signal quality. Because of this, even fewer people were willing to sign up for a Unicom card.

In the entire day yesterday, the two of them had only sold a handful of cards.

”No problem. Twenty cards each, fifty-yuan commission per card. Leave your contact info and give me your student IDs. I need to register them.”

Chen Yansen stated calmly, following his procedure.

Song Yuncheng was taken aback. She had thought she would have to beg Chen Yansen humbly, maybe even endure a few taunts from him before he’d relent and agree. She hadn’t expected it to be like this at all.

”Did you not bring them, or do you not want to give them to me? I register IDs because I don’t collect prepayment for the phone cards. If you’re willing to just pay for them upfront, that’s fine too, of course.”

Seeing her frozen there, Chen Yansen explained with a light chuckle.

”N-no, that’s not it. I have my student ID with me.”

Song Yuncheng said quickly, then took her student ID out of her pocket and gently placed it in front of Chen Yansen. Jiang Ruoxuan, beside her, did the same.

”Thank you, Junior Brother Chen.”

After getting the phone cards, Jiang Ruoxuan gave a slight bow and thanked him with a smile.

”Thank her. My second-level agent slots were already full. If it weren’t for Song Yuncheng, I wouldn’t be making this exception.”

Chen Yansen said, spouting a casual lie.

The other girl’s identity was obvious. She was most likely the ’senior’ Song Yuncheng had mentioned last time. She had average looks, wore light makeup, and had a somewhat fawning expression on her face.

Hearing this, Jiang Ruoxuan immediately thanked Song Yuncheng again. Regardless of whether Chen Yansen’s words were true or not, she had to show the proper, appreciative attitude.

Chen Yansen saw that she was a sensible person and didn’t say any more. He waved his hand, signaling that they could go start making money for him.

”So, how are you planning to thank me?”

After Jiang Ruoxuan had walked some distance away, Chen Yansen turned to Song Yuncheng, who had stayed behind, and asked.

”I can treat you to a meal.”

Song Yuncheng thought for a long time before biting her lip and speaking, as if treating him to a meal was an incredibly difficult task.

”Forget the meal. A kiss will do.”

Chen Yansen beamed, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked at Song Yuncheng teasingly.

”???”

Song Yuncheng thought she had misheard. It wasn’t until she saw the nonchalant, roguish smile on Chen Yansen’s face that she was sure she hadn’t.

”Palm or back of the hand. Take your pick.”

Chen Yansen paused before adding, then extended his smooth, slender right hand in front of Yuncheng.

’Oh, it’s just a kiss on the hand! You scared me to death!’

Song Yuncheng let out a long sigh of relief, but then she came to her senses. ’Kissing his hand is not okay either!’

She frantically shook her head in refusal in her mind.

”Not willing? Then give me the cards back.”

Seeing her stand there motionlessly, Chen Yansen’s expression darkened as he threatened her.

”Junior Brother, I’m your senior.”

Song Yuncheng looked at the students, parents, and teachers coming and going. She bent over slightly, her eyes misty, and pleaded with a pitiful look on her face.

If she could just sell these 40 phone cards, her living expenses for the semester would be covered. But Chen Yansen’s request was truly outrageous; there was no way she could do it.

Seeing her eyes redden and her on-the-verge-of-tears expression, Chen Yansen ultimately couldn’t bring himself to be completely heartless.

The corners of his mouth lifted into a smile. ”Senior, I was just joking. You didn’t actually take me seriously, did you?”

Song Yuncheng’s furrowed brow suddenly froze. Her lips parted slightly, but the words got stuck in her throat. Only a single thought remained in her mind:

’This guy is such a dog!’
