CEO's Reborn Wife

Today, Jane Sampson came home with grilled corn and saw Granny Carter on the phone as she entered the door. Seeing Jane return, Granny Carter waved at her, ”You’re back just in time, it’s a call from James Black, you take it.”

”What’s he calling for?” Jane Sampson handed the grilled corn to Granny Carter, ”Grandma, have a taste, I grilled it, it’s delicious.”

Only then did she take the phone, greeted with a ”hello,” and followed with a question, ”What do you want with me?”

James Black was amused directly hearing this.

”Jane Sampson, who am I to you?” James asked.

”Husband~” Jane Sampson sweetly called out.

”Since you remember, do you think that question was appropriate just now?” James said, somewhat through gritted teeth, ”Does a husband need to have a reason to call his wife?”

”It was a bit inappropriate.” Jane Sampson giggled foolishly, ”Then why didn’t you call my phone?”

”I did, you didn’t pick up.” James Black’s tone was dissatisfied, ”Where’s your mobile phone?”

”In my pocket.” Jane Sampson took it out to see, sure enough, there were two missed calls from James; perhaps she didn’t hear it because it was too noisy next to a tractor on the way back.

”It’s been half a month and you’re not planning to come back, I want to ask whether I should send you some clothes, so you don’t end up with nothing to wear.” James seriously suggested, ”Isn’t the weather in the southland starting to warm up now? The coats you took are too thick to wear, right? Aren’t you planning to come back to swap out your wardrobe before returning?”

”No need, Brother and Mother bought me plenty of clothes hanging in the wardrobe in the room, all spring clothes for this season.” Jane Sampson seemed to miss James’ hint.

”I don’t care how many clothes you have; you, must come back home soon!” James finished, sneering, ”Heartless little thing.”

Jane Sampson couldn’t keep pretending, laughed heartily with the mobile phone in hand.

”No pretending not to understand now?” James, hearing Jane’s joyful laughter, lost his temper and became helpless, ”When are you planning to come back?”

”I’ll play for two more days~” Jane Sampson couldn’t bear to leave.

”Just two days, I’ll book a plane ticket in three days.” James didn’t believe a word from Jane’s mouth.

When she went past one week, he asked her when she’d return.

Jane said in two days.

These two days became another two days, and soon another week had passed.

At that time, she said she’d return in a week, yet she’s been gone half a month, approaching twenty days, without any sign of coming back.

Thinking for a moment, James added, ”I’ll have Coco Edwards pick you up.”

He was worried Jane might fudge him again.

”Marriage, truly a sweet trouble.” Jane sighed, ”Being single is better, being single means not having Grand Chief bothering me in my ear.”

”Ha.” James didn’t want to waste a word on a heartless woman.

”Aren’t you curious what I did today?” Jane gleefully said, ”I’ll give the phone back to Grandma and use my mobile to call you.”

Then Jane returned the phone to Granny Carter, who took the grilled corn and handed it back to her.

With this one movement, the second before still saying she’d call someone, Jane took a bite of grilled corn and forgot all about it, chatting with Granny Carter about the new skill of grilling corn she mastered, sharing her insights from today’s grilling.

Poor James Black waiting in Capital City for his wife to call back, even after the sky turned dark, he hadn’t heard his mobile phone ring once.
