CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1492: Chapter 1500 I Won’t Help You

Granny Sampton shifted her gaze away, her tone still indifferent as she asked, ”What does Julie want you to ask me for this time? This is exactly Julie Sampton’s way of doing things. She always treats people as her shields, while she hides in the background to reap the benefits.”

”Mom, Luna is afraid you’d be upset. She’ll come to keep you company in a few days,” Father Sampton said. ”Mom, just think of it as helping Luna for the last time. After this, she’ll mature.”

Father Sampton secretly observed Granny Sampton’s expression after speaking. Seeing her expression unchanged, he continued, ”Mom, Luna is already pregnant. The best outcome for her is to marry David Chip. Now that David and Nina Lee’s marriage contract has been dissolved, both of them are single and unengaged...”

Granny Sampton raised her hand to interrupt Father Sampton.

She asked bluntly, ”If you think their marriage is good for them, then you go and make them marry. Why come to me for help? I’m not Civil Affairs Office personnel, I can’t issue them a marriage certificate.”

Father Sampton’s face twitched slightly. He raised his hand awkwardly to touch his nose and said, ”Mom, what I mean is, can you talk to Jane and have her ask the Black Family to step in and help make this marriage proposal happen? Otherwise, with just me, I might not even be able to get through the main gate of the Chip Family.”

At least Father Sampton was self-aware on this point.

Even if the main gate of the Chip Family opened for him, it would only be due to his association as James Black’s nominal father-in-law, a favor extended because of the Black Family’s reputation.

Once inside, he might be able to have a cup of tea, but if he raised any conditions, without support from the Black Family, the Chip Family wouldn’t even bother entertaining him.

”Mom, Luna marrying David Chip is good for Luna, good for the child in her belly, and most importantly, good for our Sampton Family,” Father Sampton explained. ”Mom, you’ve seen Jane’s attitude recently towards me as her father and her mother. Ultimately, she’s not our biological daughter. Ever since she married out, she’s become gradually distant from us. I can’t rely on the Black Family forever.”

”Mom, I want to stand on my own two feet too. As long as I’m given this opportunity and seize it, I won’t have to look to the Black Family for survival anymore,” Father Sampton said with some enthusiasm. ”Mom, the Chip Family currently has a project to develop a small island for tourism. Mom, do you know how tempting the tourism industry’s cake is? Once I’m part of this project, the Sampton Family will never have to worry for generations. In the future, everyone will enjoy a life of abundance.”

Father Sampton’s voice grew impassioned, his excitement mounting as he spoke, as if this dream of generational prosperity was already within reach.

But Granny Sampton’s expression darkened bit by bit as his words continued.

”You want me to go find Jane?” Granny Sampton sneered repeatedly. ”Where do you get the audacity to even ask me this? The wrongs your father and I have done to Jane are already countless, and now you want me to use her, to use the granddaughter I love most but owe the greatest debt to?”

Granny Sampton stood up, pointing toward the doorway. ”If you came here specifically to say these things to me, then leave. I won’t say another word to you.”

Granny Sampton took a few steps back. ”I’ll make myself perfectly clear today—you can become David Chip’s father-in-law on your own skill if you’re capable, but I won’t help you, and I certainly won’t help your biological daughter Julie Sampton. I will no longer let anyone wrong my dear Jane, nor will I allow Julie Sampton to trample on her pain for her own happiness!”
