CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1453: Chapter 1461: Go for a Physical Examination

Just like how he clearly enjoys cooking, but seeing her and them enjoy watching him bustling around, he never said it out loud.

He simply wanted to see her smile, that joyful expression.

That’s all.

He never entered her heart, so she doesn’t even remember that he once told her he pursued his studies abroad for many years and genuinely enjoys cooking.

He distinctly mentioned to Jane Sampson that his culinary skills are quite good.

All the heartache stems from... her.

This is Kane Forest’s first time seriously liking a girl, seriously looking forward to meeting a girl, but also his first time seriously tasting regret.

When he met her, she wasn’t married.

But when they saw each other again, there was already a husband by her side.

Kane Forest even wondered, if back when he first began to like her, he had decided to transfer his feelings from the internet realm to reality, and actively pursued her—if that were the case, now, would the person by her side be someone different?

But unfortunately, at that time, he never thought about pursuing her. Like a shy, naïve young man experiencing his first stirrings of love, he simply hid his feelings silently in his heart, thinking every day about finding some time amidst his busy life to log into the game and check if she was online.

He hadn’t met her in person, yet he had already fallen for her.

He liked her interesting soul, and he also liked how she, like a silly girl, extended unconditional kindness to help others; her heartfelt sense of justice and compassion.

When Jane Sampson stepped out of the villa, she immediately spotted James Black’s car. She hurried over, umbrella in hand, flung open the car door, packed up the umbrella, closed the door—all in one seamless motion.

Then, she tossed her stuff onto the backseat of the car and pounced toward James Black, saying, ”It’s so cold! So cold!”

Her voice was full of playful affection, unrestrained and candid, as her face rubbed against James Black’s chest.

Just like a cat.

James Black reached out and held Jane Sampson’s hand, intending to use the warmth from his palm to warm her up. Only then did he notice the band-aid wrapped around her left index finger.

”How did you get hurt?” James Black asked, holding her left wrist as he examined it.

”I was distracted while cutting vegetables and accidentally nicked it. Don’t worry—it was just a small cut, and I noticed right away. The wound isn’t serious, but they insisted that I put on a band-aid.” Jane Sampson raised her injured finger and waved it lightly at James Black. ”It’s really nothing.”

Due to this small injury, she didn’t have to do the dishes, and even during the group barbecue in the evening, no one let her do anything, afraid that her wound might encounter bacteria and become infected.

Jane Sampson wasn’t spoiling herself; back when she whimsically decided to learn some culinary skills, she had sustained wounds far worse than this.

”You mentioned on the phone that Rachel Miller said a few things to you. What did she say?” James Black glanced at her finger again, his expression still showing concern. He was already considering taking off the band-aid when they returned home to check the wound. They had medicine at home he could apply.

”She didn’t say much,” Jane Sampson replied, shaking her head slightly, although she suddenly remembered something else. ”When you have time, I’ll go with you to the hospital for a full physical examination—a comprehensive one, even including genetic screening.”

Rachel Miller mentioned that her big brother had passed away from illness, her father was currently hospitalized, and it seemed to run in their family.

Jane Sampson was worried that there might be health concerns for James Black as well.

”The guard team does physical exams every year.” James Black frowned slightly. ”This year’s check-up was less than three months ago.”

”The routine exams done by the guard team don’t compare to going to the hospital for a proper full-body screening!” Jane Sampson lifted herself from James Black’s arms, her expression serious. ”On the eighth lunar day, we’re going to the hospital!”
