CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1216: Chapter 1224: Less Contact

Leaving that district, James Black hailed a car and took Jane Sampson back to the hotel.

”I’ll leave by tomorrow night at the latest, and before I leave, I’ll have Peter Gingery come to King Town to be with you; he and auntie’s people will take care of the rest.” James Black gently touched Jane’s head, ”Don’t be afraid.”

”I’m not afraid~” Jane said, ”Peter Gingery is also busy with work, right? I have Lucy with me, it’s fine.”

”In such a critical time, Peter Gingery is essentially here on a mission, and his task is to protect you before I finish mine,” James Black said.

This was also the intention of the guardian team’s leaders; the text message Jane received on her mobile phone had already indicated that, as James Black’s wife, she was currently in a state of hidden danger, as someone had shifted their target to her.

At this moment, those people were clueless about the identity of James Black’s wife but that did not mean they would never find out.

After all, for the insiders of Capital Province, the fact that James Black’s wife was Jane Sampson wasn’t such a difficult secret to uncover.

Once Jane Sampson’s identity was exposed, she would be in danger.

Therefore, having Peter Gingery come over was mainly for him to protect Jane.

Jane was not foolish; connecting the dots from the text messages on her phone to James’s words, she understood everything all at once.

She hummed in agreement and smiled, ”That’s fine by me.”

James felt there was always some hidden meaning in her response of ”That’s fine by me.”

After pondering for a bit, James relaxed his expression, ”Even if Peter Gingery comes, don’t even think about indulging with him. I’ll have given him a full briefing before his arrival, and I won’t miss a single detail.”

Jane’s originally beaming expression suddenly changed; she tried to hold back but couldn’t restrain herself, and rolled her eyes before mumbling softly.

”Annoying ghost.”

James’s expression darkened, ”What did you say?”

”I said I understand, I’ll behave, I won’t eat anything I shouldn’t,” Jane quickly clung to his arm, acting coquettishly, ”I’m very well-behaved, don’t forget the gift you promised me and a cup of milk tea; once I’m back in Capital Province, you have to make good on your promise.”

James Black’s expression softened a bit, unable to resist her act of coquetry; he almost invisibly curved the corners of his mouth, and hummed in reply. He had already arranged for someone to prepare the gift.

It wasn’t chosen from what Alexander Forest had bought last time, but something James Black had thought of himself.

James thought, Jane will probably like it.

After all, she likes him.

Back at the hotel, knowing that there was a video from the day of the incident regarding Jane, James Black opened her computer to watch it.

Jane sat next to him, crunching on an apple and asked, ”I think the General Manager of Crystal Element Hotel, Rachel Miller, is quite nice. Should I ask her for the surveillance video?”

While speaking, she rummaged through her purse and handed over the business card Rachel Miller had given her previously, then said, ”Should I give her a call to see?”

James glanced at the business card, snatched it expressionlessly from the tip of Jane’s fingers and, with a flick of his hand, tossed the card into a trashcan brimming with apple peels.

He then coldly advised Jane, ”Try to have less contact with the people from Crystal Element in the future.”

”Why?” Jane looked puzzled, why was he suddenly so irritable?

What was the reason for such hostility? Was there a reason to throw away Rachel Miller’s business card into the trash can like it had personally offended him?

”Because the people you think appear to be good are not necessarily good; bad people don’t have ’bad person’ written on their face for you to discern whether they are good or bad,” James Black said.
