CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 846: Chapter 854: Broken Is Broken

But he couldn’t yet, he wasn’t strong enough now, not capable enough, and he could tell that Jane Sampson was very happy with James Black.

”No need for reminders, Jane Sampson is my wife,” James Black said, ”Taking care of her, protecting her is my responsibility.”

”Please love her a little more while you take care of and protect her,” Bright Sampton requested somewhat greedily.

”Bright Sampton, what you’re talking about is exactly what I’m doing,” James Black’s tone became more serious, ”You don’t need to say more. As long as I’m here, nobody can bully her.”

After hanging up the phone, James Black stood in the guest room for a long, long time.

For Jane Sampson, the most distressing, the most heartbreaking thing was undoubtedly the phrase, ”You have no home, nowhere to go, no place for you.”

So when she saw him, she collapsed in emotion, holding him and crying that she had a home.

James Black returned to the bedroom, bent down, and gently kissed her eyelids, ”Silly girl, how could you be without a home? Wherever I am, that’s your home.”

His fingertips gently caressed her face, conveying a touch of compassion for her.

At this time, James Black especially, especially missed the younger, ignorant Jane Sampson, who had laughed so wildly and unrestrained in the great courtyard, living a carefree life every day.

When she got into trouble and cried, there was someone who felt sorry for her, unwilling to punish her.

Whatever she wanted, with just a little coquettish pleading, someone naturally would bring it to her hand.

She should have been a princess, pampered and cherished in the palm of someone’s hand.

The happier she had lived before, the more frantic and painful it was when she fell into the mire.

He should have held her in his arms and protected her earlier, should have told her sooner not to be afraid, that he was there.

Jane Sampson woke up in James Black’s arms the next morning, dreamily opening her eyes, not yet clear-headed, James Black’s lips landed on the corner of her mouth first.

”Awake? It’s early,” James Black’s voice rang out.

”I went to bed early last night, so I woke up early,” Jane Sampson murmured as she rubbed her eyes and then sat up to check the time, muttering, ”I’ll go make some breakfast for you.”

After getting down from the bed, Jane Sampson suddenly voiced a surprised ”huh,” turned her head to look at James Black, and curiously asked, ”Why didn’t you go downstairs for a run today?”

Even with his left hand injured, James Black would still go for a jog or a walk early in the morning to stretch and exercise.

Waking up in James Black’s arms so early in the morning was indeed something Jane Sampson was not accustomed to.

”Not going,” James Black replied succinctly, then followed Jane Sampson out of bed.

Jane Sampson had thought that James Black would be in a hurry to return to the guard team, but the reality was otherwise.

After breakfast, James Black didn’t leave home directly, but followed her back to the bedroom, watched her change her clothes and come out of the cloakroom, and then watched her sit at the dressing table fussing with her makeup.

Since she was going to an audition for a costume drama today, Jane Sampson wore rather retro clothes, James Black stood behind her and after glancing at her, asked, ”Why aren’t you using the hairpin I gave you?”

After asking, James Black thought for a moment and added another question, ”Don’t you like it?”

”I like it!” Jane Sampson hastily explained, fearful that James Black might misunderstand, ”I’m just afraid I’ll accidentally break it.”

”Bought from a two-buck shop, if it breaks, it breaks,” James Black snorted, then took out the hairpin and handed it to her, ”If the thing you buy is just kept in a high tower, then the hairpin loses its meaning and value. It’s a hairpin; its mission is to stay in a woman’s hair and embellish her hairstyle.”
