CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 803: Chapter 811 Regrets

The two of them arrived not too early nor too late, and as soon as they entered, it was safe to say they captured the attention of all the media reporters present, with the sound of camera shutters almost never ceasing.

Since Director John Young’s film premiere, nearly the entire nation’s media had been watching the two of them, with Jane Sampson unexpectedly absent from the premiere. John Young explained on her behalf, saying Jane had a sudden urgent matter at home, which prevented her from attending.

In the meantime, quite a few internet haters accused Jane of being unprofessional and taking her work as child’s play.

But these haters were all silenced by Jane’s fans, pointing out that Director John Young himself had said it was a sudden family emergency that led to her absence. If Director John Young could understand Jane’s situation, what business did these keyboard warriors have to chirp and squawk about it?

Therefore, since that incident where she didn’t show up, Jane Sampson had become a person of interest that the media continuously sought to interview. From Rock Bell, Jane knew that these days, he had turned down many, many magazine interviews for her.

The movie directed by John Young featured a collaboration between Jane and James Carter, and it wasn’t the first time the duo had worked together. Now, attending the charity dinner together, their joint appearance naturally attracted quite a lot of attention.

Before entering the conference venue, there was the customary walk down the red carpet. The distance wasn’t long, and Jane, clasping James Carter’s arm and clad in a bright red evening gown, seemed a dazzling pearl in the night.

Jane didn’t walk fast, harmoniously adjusting her pace to match James, who had a walking stick in his hand. If it weren’t for that, perhaps no one would have been able to tell he had difficulty walking.

”Jane Sampson!” Mair Williams spotted Jane from a distance and called out to her quietly before waving and making a beeline towards her. It was only when she got close that Mair noticed Jane’s companion was James Carter, and she quickly shifted her casual smile to a serious greeting.

”I have some friends over there too. You two chat first, little Jane. I’ll come to find you before it starts,” said James Carter, knowing the girls had their own topics to discuss, so he gave them space and went off to the side.

”Thank you, Mr. Carter,” Mair said with particular excitement, thanking him, then grabbing Jane’s hand and shaking it vigorously, ”Wow, I had no idea James Senior was so approachable and friendly. I’m so jealous that you get to be so close to him!”

Being a singer herself, Mair definitely admired James Carter, having listened to almost every song of his.

”It’s just a shame that James Senior suddenly disappeared for two or three years, and when he came back, it was like this,” Mair sighed softly, then turned to ask Jane, ”Do you know what happened to Mr. Carter’s foot? Over these years, nobody knew what happened to him. After his comeback, seeing his foot like that, many speculated he might have taken a hiatus due to illness or perhaps he had an accident. He’s such a good person; God really seems too harsh on him.”

”I don’t know either,” Jane replied, having never considered asking James Carter about it. Since meeting him, despite feeling sorry for him, she never thought to pry into his personal matters or anything he chose not to mention.

”Let’s not talk about him. Let’s talk about you,” said Jane, pulling Mair to a more secluded spot, then asked eagerly with a gossip-hungry expression, ”How is it going with the black-face instructor? You’ve had his WhatsApp for quite a while, right? How far have things progressed between you two?”
