CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 573: Chapter 581: What’s the Situation

”Too skinny, the sharks would complain about their teeth,” Jane Sampson muttered under her breath.

Peter Gingery, who was hurrying over with a ladder, just wanted to give Jane a hundred likes at that moment. Why was she picking a fight at a time like this! Apologizing quickly and defusing his brother’s anger was the most important thing!

At this time, flaunting her wit. Did she even want to live?

Peter Gingery could hear James Black’s breathing grow heavier as he stood there, and he knew it was over—his brother was truly furious.

James Black with suppressed anger, expressionless face, calling no one but himself, was even more dangerous than the James Black who gave the cold shoulder.

In his heart, Peter Gingery prayed for Jane, wishing her all the luck in the world. The only thing he could do was place the chair he brought under the tree so that Jane wouldn’t be embarrassingly caught up high in front of everyone, unable to get down.

After Peter Gingery placed the ladder, James Black said with a cold voice, ”Come down.”

Jane Sampson just sat there for a few seconds before slowly standing up, but instead of coming down immediately, she suddenly went up a little further, reached for something, put it in her pocket, and then carefully and bit by bit made her way down. Once her feet were on the ladder, she still had to mutter, ”Actually, I could have gotten down by myself. After all, I’m tall, with long arms and legs—I could just slide down.”

Peter Gingery facepalmed—when did this little lass become so talkative? Couldn’t she see his brother’s face was already dark?

Jane Sampson slowly got to ground level, then stood in front of James Black, not knowing where to put her hands or feet, and didn’t dare to look at him. She hung her head low, her toes rubbing against a stone on the ground.

For a while, she said in a low voice, ”I’m down.”

After saying that, she waited a good while without a response from James Black. Jane Sampson took a secret glance at him, and just met his frown.

It was all over!

She was dead meat!

That was Jane’s only thought at that moment.

James Black, who was silent, was scarier than the one who loved to nitpick. His face was so dark it seemed he could squeeze ink out of it.

”Do you want a peach?” Jane Sampson took a red peach out of her pocket and offered it to James Black. After a thought, she added, ”It’s very sweet, I specifically saved the biggest one from the tree for you.”

Sweet talk was easy, since no one would know if it really was the biggest.

James Black didn’t accept it and still looked down from his height at the woman in front of him, who was beginning to panic.

Heh, so she was still capable of feeling nervous. It seemed she wasn’t beyond hope.

”I’ll eat it, I’ll eat it,” Peter Gingery said, seeing the awkwardness of Jane Sampson, so he stretched out his hand to take it. However, as soon as his hand reached out, King Black shot an eye dagger at him, and Peter Gingery paused with his hand in mid-air, then thought better of it and drew it back.

Really, he won’t eat it himself, but he won’t even let someone help her out of the sticky situation.

What a rotten temper!

King Black!

Jane Sampson quietly pursed her lips.

”The game is over, everything has been recorded, right? Hurry on down the mountain, or there won’t be any meal left in the dining hall,” Peter Gingery waved his hand to alert the filming crew, then said, ”We’ll go downhill first, let Jane follow later.”

The filming crew were somewhat puzzled by the situation, but upon hearing Peter Gingery’s words, they proceeded down to the gathering place at the mountain bottom. There was still a show to go on with later.

The filming crew led the way, and the young team member lagged behind until catching up with Peter Gingery to quietly ask, ”Brother Gingery, what’s up with our general? Why is he so fierce toward my Goddess Sampton? She’s so cute, how can he be so fierce to her? You see Goddess Sampton coming down from the tree, not daring to say a word, the general has really scared her badly.”
