Chapter 449: Chapter 457: Which One is Jane Sampson?

Today’s script was about the first encounter between Jane Blackwood and Windy Lancaster, where the heiress journeys with her overseas-educated childhood friend, played by the second male lead Harry Humming, to the countryside for a drawing trip. It was at this time that Windy suddenly entered Jane’s sight, and subsequently, became a scene on her drawing board as well as a new acquaintance through Harry.

For Jane Sampson, the most challenging part of the shoot today was the emotional aspect, as Jane Blackwood was smitten with Windy at first sight.

Jane Sampson needed to use the demure physical movements rare among young ladies from prestigious families, combine them with restrained expressions, and a rich variation of emotions to convey the awe she felt upon first seeing Windy, and the gradual process of her admiration.

”Jane Sampson, your gaze is off, let’s do it again,” Director Wilson called cut repeatedly, his temper flaring up slightly, ”When secretly infatuated with someone, your eyes show shyness with a hint of fear, wanting to take another glance but also afraid of getting caught—that’s the turmoil I need. Think about what it feels like when you have a secret crush.”

Jane Sampson quickly apologized and then scratched her head, realizing she never had a secret crush, so she truly didn’t know what that feeling entailed.

”It’s okay, just relax,” Shirley Young patted Jane’s shoulder and whispered, ”Just think of me as your husband. Just reenact the feelings you had when you first met your husband.”

Jane touched the tip of her nose, recalling that her first impression of James Black was that he was a very handsome and severely cold elder brother.

As she grew up, her impressions included a motorcycle, leather jacket, and flared pants, seemingly related to James, yet they were all just products of her imagination.

”Jane Sampson, take a break for now, and ponder the emotional part a bit more,” suggested Director Wilson, worried that pushing Jane too hard might increase her stress and worsen her performance, thus giving her time to relax.

Jane heaved a sigh of relief but also looked at Harry with a guilty conscience.

Yes, in this scene today, not only was she involved in the emotional play but also Harry, who had always harbored affection for Jane’s character ever since they were kids.

Loving someone naturally enables one to effortlessly catch the nuances of that person’s emotions. Thus, the moment Jane begins to fancy Windy, as someone secretly in love with Jane, he would definitely be the first to notice.

Therefore, Jane had to display the nervous yet hopeful emotions of harboring a secret crush on Windy, while Harry had to portray a sense of loss.

”You’ve clearly never had a secret crush on someone,” Harry sat down beside Jane nonchalantly, laughing, ”It’s different for me. I’ve had numerous crushes since I was small and just as many heartbreaks, so I understand this kind of feeling the character has.”

Jane inexplicably felt proud of Harry and quite envious of him.

Having never nurtured a secret infatuation, she had never experienced heartbreak—the gut-wrenching ache often described by others was even more foreign to Jane.

As they were chatting, a small tractor chugged its way towards them from a distance and then stopped next to the film crew, from which two aunties hopped down.

”Which one’s Jane Sampson? Which one’s Jane Sampson?” the aunties called out nearby.

”They’re calling you!” Harry nudged the daydreaming Jane and then raised his hand in response for her, ”Here! She’s right here!”

The aunties acknowledged with an ”aye” and then directly pulled back the tarp on the tractor to reveal a truckload of fruits.
