CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 420: Chapter 428: Don’t Say It Again

After James Black finished washing the dishes, he went straight into the study, which made Jane Sampson feel awkward.

She had originally thought that he would stay in the living room with her like yesterday, serving as a human cushion for her.

His silent retreat into the study suggested, this guy was truly not in a good mood.

As Jane passed by the study’s doorway for the umpteenth time holding her script, she heard no sound from inside. She spent the entire afternoon in the living room, barely making any progress with the script. Finally, around four in the afternoon, she heard movement from the study. She quickly picked up the script again, pretending to be very absorbed in it.

But in reality, her ears were constantly tuned to any sound of James Black coming out of the study.

Listening closely, she guessed he was getting water to drink, and Jane’s eyes lit up as she turned her head and called out, ”James Black!”

The noise from the water dispenser stopped, but James Black didn’t reply.

”James Black, I want some water too!” Jane tentatively called out in a small voice.

The person over there still didn’t respond, but two minutes later, a cup of warm boiled water appeared in front of Jane.

James Black set down the water cup with a precise intensity, yet when the cup met the table, it emitted a low thud.

Jane looked up at James, whose shadow covered the light in front of her, and a ripple of unease went through her when she saw he didn’t even give her a glance.

~Tsk~

Does he have to be this hard to appease?

Although she had no idea why it was up to her to coax James Black, Jane had an intuition that if she didn’t succeed in appeasing him before bedtime, she’d be in for a tough night.

”James Black.” Jane reached out and tugged at the corner of the man’s clothes, and finally, she got him to lower his gaze and look at her. Immediately, she put on a bright, springtime smile, ”Pay some attention to me, won’t you~”

As she spoke, her hand tugging at his clothes gave a gentle shake, coupled with her charmingly coy smile, she looked like she was being affectionate.

James Black didn’t walk away after setting down the cup. Instead, he stood beside her, looking down on her with a high vantage point, staring at her for a good few seconds.

For some reason, this time the subject of divorce was brought up, though it wasn’t the first time Jane had raised it, he had never been this angry before.

The first time Jane Sampson mentioned divorce, James Black was just shocked and surprised.

He disliked unexpected developments in his life, and he believed that his marriage with Jane Sampson shouldn’t have reached the point of discussing divorce.

But at noon, when he heard her utter the word ’divorce,’ James’s heart skipped a beat, experiencing a bizarre sting as though he were pricked by a needle.

Also, in that moment, there was a strong emotion swelling within James Black’s heart; he couldn’t agree to a divorce and would never let a divorce happen between them.

She must be his, James Black’s wife, and can only be his wife.

He wouldn’t let her leave his side, only to see her happily seeking a second chance at love one day and falling into the arms of another man.

”Some things, you are not to mention ever again.” James finally spoke, his hand gently caressing the top of her head, ”I won’t give you another chance.”

Treated like a pet being stroked on the head once more, Jane watched James silently, blinking.

She really wanted to ask, by not giving her another chance, did he mean if she brought it up again, he would agree.
