Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 894: Chapter 539: Plans

Grandpa took out two dark yellow thread-bound booklets from the compartment in the bedside box and handed them to Ye Xuan and Luo Ye: ”Here, for you. Okay, I’m going to sleep now, go and join your friends.”

”Great Grandpa, this... what is this...” Luo Ye looked at the booklet with a face full of confusion, the front part seemed similar to the Ye Family’s Thirty-Six Styles, but she had already learned all of these, let alone Ye Xuan.

Grandpa winked mysteriously: ”Girl, you two need to study this slowly together to find out the differences.”

The two hurriedly placed the booklets together, and Luo Ye exclaimed: ”The direction is different, the angles... the angles are slightly different too. Great Grandpa, stop playing tricks, will you?”

”This, well, Great Grandpa explaining now has little meaning, you two should practice according to the booklet when you get the chance, you’ll discover its subtleties in the future.” Grandpa yawned, ”I’m sleepy.”

”Great Grandpa, we’ll see you tomorrow morning.” Ye Xuan said while pulling Luo Ye outside.

Grandpa tapped the floor with his cane: ”Xiao Xuan come back, Great Grandpa has something to say to you, Ye’er, you go ahead and join those young friends.”

”Okay.” Luo Ye responded and quickly left.

”Great Grandpa, what is it?” Ye Xuan looked at Grandpa with confusion, ”Don’t you always share everything with Ye’er?”

Grandpa poked his grandson’s forehead angrily: ”You silly boy, I didn’t want Ye’er to feel shy.”

”Shy? Grandpa, what do you mean?”

Grandpa snatched the booklet from his hand, flipped to the back, and whispered a few words in his ear, Ye Xuan’s eyes sparkled: ”Great Grandpa, why tell me now about this matter?”

Grandpa smiled openly: ”At my age, I look quite hardy physically, but who knows when I might report to Marx? So, it’s better to disclose things sooner rather than later, besides, Great Grandpa believes Xiao Xuan is a sensible child, the outcome is the same whether told early or late.”

Ye Xuan wrapped an arm around Grandpa’s thin shoulder, his voice slightly hoarse, ”Great Grandpa, when you were in a coma and I wasn’t by your side, I was truly unfilial, were you very disappointed not to see me when you woke up?”

”Silly child, even when Great Grandpa was in a coma, I was aware of everything you said and did, just couldn’t control myself and couldn’t speak.

Xiao Xuan, treat Ye’er well, girls like her are rare in this world. You already understand the meaning of Great Grandpa dividing the booklet between you two, but, you must never do anything to betray Ye’er, or I won’t forgive you even after I’m gone, understand?”

Ye Xuan chuckled softly: ”Great Grandpa, if there’s no one else you can trust in this world, then who is there to trust?”

Grandpa waved his hand laughing: ”Indeed, go on then, I’m going to sleep.”

...

When Ye Xuan returned to the hall, the elders had already retired, leaving only the juniors chatting, ”little rival” Jingjing was clinging to Luo Ye’s arm, rubbing her cheek against it. Seeing him come in, she made a funny face and rubbed more gleefully.

Everyone fell silent, watching Ye Xuan with amused expressions, curious about how he would handle it.

”Big vinegar jar, Uncle is a big vinegar jar.”

The next moment, the little boy was lifted and dangled mid-air, his struggles ineffective, he could only howl loudly for some satisfaction.

After chatting for a while and noticing it was late, Luo Ye proposed, ”Since tomorrow some have school and others have work, shall we rest earlier and chat again tomorrow night?”

”Alright.” Ye Xuan responded, stood up, and looked at Ye Mo and Qu Yue: ”I’ll take you to the guest room.” The two exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with laughter: ”No request made.”

”Ye’er, you should sleep early too.” Ye Xuan said as he ignored the two who were grinning mischievously and turned to leave.

Luo Lian gave a thumbs up: ”Not bad, not having seen Ye’er for so long, you managed to make that decision, really good.”

Ye Mo and Qu Yue staggered and quickly slipped out, tonight they must keep an eye out and not let Handsome Ye sneak out...

Luo Ye hooked an arm around Luo Lian: ”Lianlian, let’s sleep together.” Wen Ke immediately grabbed both of them: ”I want to join too.”

”Alright, together.”

Jingjing, who planned to sleep with Little Pumpkin, swiftly turned around and stared pitifully at Luo Ye: ”Sister Ye’er, what about me?”

”This rascal, really doesn’t let people worry.” Ye Xuan returned, picked up the little boy, and carried him out, ”Hahaha...” Little Pumpkin laughed holding his stomach, ”Jing...Jingjing, I like you, we’re definitely buddies!”

Luo Ye helplessly slapped him on the back: ”Alright, go to bed now.”

After everyone left, Old Mrs. Wen quietly closed the door, looking pleased as she watched Mr. Wen reading by the bedside. ”Old man, don’t you notice that the house feels different whenever Ye’er comes back?”

”Of course it’s different, she brought so many friends back, how could it not be?” Mr. Wen closed his book and yawned. ”Alright, now that you don’t have anything to worry about, hurry up and sleep. I told you before, Xiao Xuan knows what he’s doing, but you insisted on worrying unnecessarily.”

”With Xiao Xin not here, of course I’d be worried? No matter what, being on guard is always beneficial.” Old Mrs. Wen grumbled as she climbed into bed.

”You.” Mr. Wen shook his head helplessly. ”One moment you’re praising Xiao Xuan as unparalleled, the next you’re worried that he will let your granddaughter suffer. Honestly, how should I respond to that?”

”Don’t you think Uncle Ye is eager for these two kids to get married now?” Old Mrs. Wen pursed her lips. ”Our family’s Ye’er is younger than Xiao Xuan by so much. No matter how good Xiao Xuan is, I can’t bear to see Ye’er marry so young.”

”Those kids know what they’re doing, don’t overthink it, and focus on worrying about your son’s marriage instead. Don’t let Wen Tong fool you just because he’s forty. Truthfully, he’s not as insightful as Ye’er.” Mr. Wen shook his head helplessly. ”About today, we really ought to thank Jingjing’s mom. Xiao Tong told me that if it weren’t for Yu Feng, he wouldn’t have made up his mind to bring Hua Rong back.”

”Really?” Old Mrs. Wen sat up abruptly. ”Old man, tell me, why did she do that? Yu Miao is her sister.”

Mr. Wen patted Old Mrs. Wen reassuringly, ”She didn’t have any bad intentions, don’t worry.”

”How can I not worry? Blood relations are stronger than bones. Why would she side with an outsider?” Old Mrs. Wen still looked incredulous. Thinking it over, she said, ”I can’t let this go. I need to remind Xiao Tong to be cautious and not fall into any traps.”

Mr. Wen quickly pulled her back, ”Enough, it’s time I tell you something. About how Yu Laoer became paralyzed, do you know?”

”A stroke aftermath, isn’t that common knowledge?”

Mr. Wen waved his hand, ”Wrong, that was just a smokescreen to conceal the truth. In fact, Yu Laoer’s paralysis was caused by Yu Laoda. Back then, Old Master of Yu Family favored Yu Laoer and was planning to pass the position onto him. When the news leaked, it instead led to Yu Laoer suffering a blow.

If this incident got out, it wouldn’t save the Yu Family. Instead, it would make them a laughing stock, so Old Master Yu announced to the public that Yu Laoer had a stroke.

The issue was covered up, and under pressure, Yu Laoer agreed not to pursue Yu Laoda’s responsibility. But do you think he can truly forgive in his heart? The kids know something, don’t they?”

”Ah, power truly does cause great harm.” Old Mrs. Wen shook her head, ”Honestly, our family is no different. The feud between his granduncle and us is just as intense, isn’t it?”

”We are different from the Yu Family.” Mr. Wen sighed, ”Forget it, let’s not talk about this anymore, go to sleep.”

”By the way, should we notify Xiao Tong’s grandma’s family about his engagement?” After lying in bed for a while, Old Mrs. Wen sat up again.

After a moment of silence, Mr. Wen nodded, ”Alright, but you should take Ye’er with you, she can handle it.”

The old man was kept restless by the old woman’s fussing, while nearby Luo Ye and others were also kept awake by Wen Ke. Finally receiving a response from Wu Zetian, Wen Ke excitedly went on and on with Luo Ye and Luo Lian. By the time she finished, it was already late at night.

Listening to her snores getting louder and louder, Luo Lian sighed, ”She made us all wide awake, yet she sleeps soundly. I truly envy her easygoing nature.”

Luo Ye propped up a cushion behind her back and sat up halfway, ”Lianlian, you think too much and brood too heavily. While Monique is indeed troubling, you can’t let him prevent you from accepting anyone else.”

Luo Lian smiled bitterly, ”Luoluo, you wouldn’t understand. You’ve never lived in that environment, so you’ll never understand how deeply my heart has been hurt.”

Luo Ye sighed and stroked her forehead, ”Alright, I won’t persuade you anymore. Just remember my number; call me the moment you run into trouble, okay?”

”Okay!” Luo Lian smiled apologetically and held Luo Ye’s arm. ”Ye’er, you need to be cautious too. Monique is extremely jealous; he might really target you. It’s my fault for not keeping our relationship under wraps.”

Luo Ye patted her reassuringly, ”Don’t worry, we’re in our country; he won’t dare.”

Luo Lian instantly sounded more at ease, ”That’s true, he’ll be gone after tomorrow, so there’s nothing to worry about. Alright, let’s sleep.”

...

Early the next morning, Ye Mo and Qu Yue left early due to some affairs. Luo Ye, with three days off after completing her task, didn’t need to rush back to school, so she and Luo Lian stayed at Grandpa’s house to take a break.

The little boy Jingjing went to school with Wen Nan. As he left, Luo Ye and others hadn’t come downstairs yet, so he left a big note saying, ”Sister Ye’er, I’m going to study, hoping to marry you sooner.”

Ye Xuan glanced at it, crumpled it up into the trash bin, and then picked it up again, ”No, it’s evidence; better keep it.”

Luo Ye and Luo Lian looked at him speechlessly, silent for a moment.

Nearing noon, the design studio called with a big order requiring Luo Lian to sign. Worried about her safety, Luo Ye pulled Ye Xuan along to accompany her back. (To be continued.
