Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 868: Chapter 524: Each Shows Their Skills

”Boss, aren’t you really worried?”

In the SUV, Ye Mo scrutinized Ye Xuan, his expression inquisitive. Watching the ambulance roar by, Ye Mo couldn’t comprehend how Boss Ye could remain so composed.

”What’s there to worry about?” Ye Xuan glanced at him indifferently. ”As long as Ye’er isn’t the one at a disadvantage, it means she’s got the upper hand. Me stepping in now would only have downsides, no benefits.”

Ye Mo thought for a bit, then nodded in agreement, ”Yeah, if you went, others would definitely misunderstand and think everything was because you protected Ye’er. Fine, let’s just sit here and wait for her. Boss, this past year, can you share some stories that you’re able to?”

”No.” Ye Xuan rejected outright, ”You want the two of us to end up in a military court?”

”What did I just say?” Ye Mo looked around in confusion, ”Boss, I said we could work together again soon. What’s wrong with that? Is there?”

”Get out of here.” Ye Xuan punched the feigning Ye Mo. ”Just the two of us, is there a need for that trick?”

”Boss, I was inconsiderate earlier. I’ve gotten too used to being casual with you. I was just joking.” Ye Mo couldn’t help but laugh. ”Honestly, when I first joined the army, what I thought about most was how to surpass you. Thinking back now, that was really silly.”

”Well, you can’t say that. The two of us weren’t on the same starting line. If I weren’t the eldest grandson of the Ye Family, if I didn’t utilize the Ye Family’s connections, we’d be evenly matched.” Ye Xuan sighed with a bitter smile. ”That’s something I must admit. In this aspect, Ye’er is better than me.”

”Boss, the key is still your personal ability. On that point, I truly admire you.” Ye Mo looked at him seriously. ”Even if the Ye Family’s connections played a role, all it did was prevent others from making things difficult for you.”

Ye Xuan interrupted him, ”Enough, let’s not talk about this anymore. If we continue, it’ll seem like we’re just praising each other. Instead, how about you tell me about what’s happened during this time?”

Ye Mo slapped his forehead sharply, ”Boss, don’t say it, there really is something, and it’s big.” He couldn’t help but sigh. ”Our General Xia might be getting transferred.”

”Transferred where?” Ye Xuan was stunned. This news was too sudden. General Xia hadn’t hinted a word to him, or perhaps, he didn’t want him distracted?

”They’re saying he’s being transferred to the Western Sichuan Military District as Deputy Commander. While that position sounds good, who doesn’t know about Commander Lu’s temperament there?” Ye Mo said, looking indignant.

Ye Xuan thought for a moment, ”Is Vice Army Commander Lei getting promoted to Army Commander?”

”Yes, Vice Army Commander Lei will be promoted to Army Commander, and Vice Chairman Yan’s eldest son, Yan Shangjing, will be the new Vice Army Commander.”

”Yan Shangjing?” Ye Xuan furrowed his brows. Logically and according to regulations, Yan Shangjing wasn’t qualified to be the Vice Army Commander of Unit A.

Yan Shangjing, currently forty-two, was promoted to Major General last March and became the commander of a division in the Beijing Military Region in May. And now, just over a year later, he’s becoming Vice Army Commander. The speed of his promotion is simply astonishing!

Ye Mo nodded, ”That’s right, it’s Yan Shangjing. The news has been confirmed.”

”I see.” Ye Xuan nodded and fell silent. After getting off the boat, he came directly to Sha City and hadn’t had a chance to officially meet anyone. This transfer situation feels off all around. Perhaps, the results of this past year’s power struggle have gone astray?

Ye Mo glanced out the window, puzzled, ”Why is Bai Yan here?”

Ye Xuan took a look outside, a smile playing at the corners of his lips, ”I reckon Officer Bai called her here?”

”Boss, I’m heading out.” Ye Mo quickly opened the door and got out of the car, just as Bai Yan arrived. He smiled politely at her, ”Hello, Commander Ye. Is Master Ye in the car?”

”He is.” Ye Mo stepped aside, then returned to knock on the car window, ”Boss, Major Bai is here.”

Ye Xuan rolled down the window, speaking indifferently, ”What is it?”

Bai Yan’s eyes held a trace of bitterness. This matter concerning her cousin really put her in a difficult spot. Seeing Ye Xuan’s attitude toward her, she knew, in his eyes, she was nothing, probably not even considered a friend.

”Master Ye, I need to trouble you with something. Officer Bai, who’s in charge of watching over Luo Ye, is my cousin Bai Xue. Can you let her off the hook?” Bai Yan didn’t beat around the bush, directly stating her purpose.

Ye Xuan looked at her expressionlessly, ”This isn’t something I can decide.”

”As long as you and Luo Ye are willing to speak on her behalf, that would suffice.” Bai Yan’s eyes showed pleading, ”My cousin is in her thirties, and her son is only six. If she ends up in prison, her family will fall apart. Master Ye, children without their parents are very pitiful. Please think about it, alright?”
