Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 882: Chapter 532: Farce

Hearing Wang Xianglan’s loud shouting, the waiter standing at the door quickly jogged in: ”Customer, what can I do for you?”

”Look, look at this...” Wang Xianglan angrily pointed at the fly, ”What is this thing, you should recognize it, right?”

”Yes.” The waiter nodded politely.

”Yes? You’re audacious to say ’yes’? A fly in a five-star hotel’s private room...” Wang Xianglan frowned and waved her hand, ”Forget it, I won’t bicker with you. Get your boss over here. This meal has to be comped, and you must compensate us for the mental distress.”

”Exactly, who knows if there’s more in the food. Comping the meal and compensating for our mental distress is necessary, or we’ll expose you.” Song Yaqin quickly chimed in with her mom.

Li Ru didn’t expect things to turn out this way and hurriedly stood up to explain: ”Aunt, this isn’t...”

”Isn’t what, isn’t? Kids should speak less.” Wang Xianglan quickly interrupted her: ”The birthday banquet was organized by your sister, your brother-in-law, and I. Don’t stand there and talk without understanding.”

”Big Sis, you can’t say that. Even if you organized it, the cost was split.” Aunt Song couldn’t stand it anymore.

Seeing another argument about to start, Mr. Song waved his hand: ”Alright, alright, everyone stop chattering. It wasn’t a fly in the food, so just let it go. Don’t make it hard for the waiter.”

Wang Xianglan looked unconvinced: ”Dad, we came here for the atmosphere. If they can’t provide it, they shouldn’t claim to be five-star. I am not happy if this just ends like this.”

”Dad, I think Xianglan is right. If it’s a five-star hotel, it should have a five-star environment and service. If it doesn’t meet the standard, it has to be punished.” Uncle Song supported his wife.

Originally thinking of saying something, Li Ru pouted and sat back down. Song Yaxian leaned over to her cousin’s ear: ”Ru, tell me honestly, where did that fly come from?”

Li Ru, grinning, wrapped her arm around Song Yaxian’s neck: ”Third Sis, Uncle’s family has always been arrogant. Why not use this opportunity to teach them a lesson? Just stay out of it.”

”You...” Song Yaxian looked at her helplessly, ”Ru, we can make a fuss behind closed doors, but how does losing face in front of outsiders help? It’s unlikely Grandpa and Grandma will forgive you then.”

Li Ru sighed lightly: ”Third Sis, you always worry about appearances, but what’s the result? Failing to balance face and reality, you only end up frustrated. Isn’t living like this exhausting?”

While the sisters were whispering, Wang Xianglan had already pressured the waiter to fetch the boss.

Mr. Song sat there with a gloomy face, sulking silently. The father of the eldest daughter-in-law used to sell Doufu; during the reform era, he was the first to set up a tofu factory and grew wealthy. The eldest son wouldn’t be where he is today without the support from his wife’s family, and thus, in front of his wife, he always yields.

As the positions of the eldest son and granddaughter’s husband got higher, the eldest daughter-in-law grew more arrogant, disregarding even him, her father-in-law, let alone others.

This issue today is just Wang Xianglan making a fuss to avoid paying. Ironically, the family that needs money the least is the eldest son’s family, but inherently, Wang Xianglan loves to take advantage of small gains.

Of course, he admits that a fly appearing in a five-star hotel is wrong, but... The old master suddenly looked up at Li Ru: ”Ru, how did you catch that fly?”

Finally noticed! Li Ru quietly sighed. Since the old master asked, she had to answer. Alas, it seemed the show wouldn’t go on: ”Grandpa, that fly is actually...”

Hearing footsteps from outside the door, Wang Xianglan quickly interrupted Li Ru: ”Knowing it drowned in the soup is unsettling enough. You’re making my stomach churn saying that.” Speaking, she clutched her belly and rubbed it.

The door opened, and the waiter led in three young people in their twenties. Smiling at the crowd, the waiter introduced: ”This is our Chairman Qu, our General Manager Li, and Manager Sun.”

Feeling valued, Wang Xianglan surveyed them with glee, nodding in satisfaction: ”Your attitude is good. It’s just a pity that the environment doesn’t match a five-star standard.”

”Is that so?” Qu Yue looked at her with a smile, ”Let me see the fly’s carcass.”

”Pfft!” Li Ru burst into laughter, then waved her hand with a blushing face, ”Chairman Qu, I’m not laughing at you. I just find your words very amusing.”
