Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 545: Chapter 328: Conversation / The Truth

Luo Ye’s straightforward response unexpectedly brought a trace of a smile to Hang Menglin’s stern face: ”What if I tell you that there is no hidden meaning behind all this, and it’s really just to have you guys live together to foster good relations in Team A, would you believe me?”

Luo Ye thought for a moment, ”I believe.”

”Oh?” It was Hang Menglin’s turn to feel puzzled: ”Why?”

Luo Ye replied seriously, ”Coach Hang has always been particularly critical of me, but when it comes to matters of right and wrong, you are principled. I believe you wouldn’t jeopardize your own reputation.”

”Well, I admit your answer makes me feel comfortable.” Hang Menglin returned to her expressionless face: ”However, I won’t let you off the hook because of this.

Here, all students are treated the same, regardless of gender, age, or status!” She paused, and seeing that Luo Ye didn’t respond, continued: ”After all, both you and Yu Na have been selected for Team A. If the tension persists, it’s not good for either of you. That’s why I refused to transfer Yu Na out. So, shouldn’t you also show some sincerity?”

”Heh...” Luo Ye chuckled, ”All these issues were stirred up by her, how can I show sincerity? Am I just a soft persimmon to be squeezed at her whim? You just said that all students are treated the same at your place!”

”That’s true, but now there’s one thing that’s different.” Hang Menglin stared straight at Luo Ye: ”You have gone to the Ye Family with Ye Xuan.”

Luo Ye smiled wryly: ”Do you mean that as my relationship with Ye Xuan stabilizes, I must completely tolerate Yu Na’s unreasonable behavior? But I’m quite confused. It’s not like I’ve stolen her boyfriend. Why should I appear to be the guilty one?”

”That’s not what I mean.” Hang Menglin hesitated: ”Luo Ye, if you agree to be more tolerant towards Yu Na, I can exempt you from morning exercises and training.”

”No!” Luo Ye shook his head resolutely: ”You have always been somewhat biased towards Yu Na, but it was tolerable. If you cut corners for her over such an incident this time, my respect for you will be almost gone!”

”I... actually don’t want to ruin her. Women in love tend to be stubborn. If you saw Liang Huarui right now, you’d understand why I’m pleading for Yu Na in this matter.

Liang Huarui didn’t harm herself before despite her illness, but now she can only be tied to the hospital bed. Doctors say that even if the treatment goes well, she won’t be able to live a normal life. Her life is wasted.

Indeed, she had pre-existing conditions, but if it wasn’t for emotional setbacks, she wouldn’t have ended up like this. That’s why, after knowing you’ve been to the Ye Family, I’ve been observing Yu Na.

The Yu Na I remember is the one who doesn’t talk much but always smiles. What about her now? Luo Ye, give her some time to adapt; once she lets out her anger, she’ll be fine. I believe you are a kind child and will agree.”

”Uh...” Luo Ye frowned and looked at Hang Menglin: ”You might be overreacting. If Yu Na can’t get over something like this, then she’s not fit for Team A. How can someone with such a fragile heart be relied upon during missions?

And you mentioned women in love being stubborn. As far as I know, Ye Xuan has never had a romantic relationship with Yu Na, right? Well, if unreciprocated love also counts as a relationship, then I have nothing more to say.

But if it’s unreciprocated, Yu Na’s issues are even greater. Coach Hang, if you and your boyfriend were in an established relationship, and a woman who secretly loves your boyfriend troubles you, what would you do?”

”This...” Hang Menglin was stuck; she was already somewhat clueless about matters of affection. She was deeply moved when she visited Liang Huarui last night, which led to her undue concerns when Yu Na came to her today asking to switch dorms.

”How did you encourage Yu Na to be cheerful and happy?” Luo Ye pondered and asked.

Hang Menglin shook her head: ”I didn’t try to persuade her; I merely rejected her proposal.”

Luo Ye looked at Hang Menglin doubtfully; if so, Yu Na’s attitude was indeed strange!

”You don’t have to look at me like that!” Hang Menglin’s expression lightened slightly: ”Do I need to lie?” she said and stood up, ”I still hope you’ll consider my proposal.”

”Yes!” Luo Ye replied nonchalantly.

Hang Menglin thought silently and left dorm 301 without a word. Her heart was also in turmoil; Yu Na was her favorite student.

However, Yu Na’s recent behaviors increasingly disappointed her. In her view, students trained by Hang Menglin should be unparalleled!

The outcome? In the selection competition, Yu Na ended up in a rather poor position, which was extremely disappointing to her. Her visit to Liang Huarui yesterday suddenly made her realize that Yu Na’s performance might be due to emotional setbacks.

So, she came here reluctantly to try her hand at something she wasn’t skilled at, guessing that Luo Ye might also refuse, but still, she had to show some care for her apprentice.

”Coach Hang, good day!” Li Xiaobei, who hurried over, almost bumped into Hang Menglin and quickly stopped to greet her.

”Why didn’t you go to singing practice?” Hang Menglin frowned.

Li Xiaobei looked nervous and replied, ”Report, Instructor, I’m one of the tone-deaf, you told me not to practice.”

Hang Menglin recalled and nodded, then continued downstairs.

Li Xiaobei let out a breath of relief and quickly ran to door 301: ”Luoluo, your phone!”

”Thanks, Little Bei!” Luo Ye, who was deep in thought, quickly put down her book, came out, and patted Li Xiaobei’s cheek: ”Wait for me for a while, I’ll come back and chat with you.”

”Okay.” Li Xiaobei happily responded and went inside to sit down.

As soon as Luo Ye picked up the phone, Ye Xuan’s magnetic voice came from the other end: ”Ye’er?”

”It’s me.” Luo Ye checked that no one was around and chuckled: ”Miss me?”

”Yes.” Ye Xuan confirmed.

”Heh...hehe...” Luo Ye laughed, not knowing what to say. She really couldn’t speak those cheesy lines.

”Ye’er, I called to inform you about something to avoid any complaints from you in the future.” Ye Xuan’s voice turned serious, causing Luo Ye’s heart to tremble: ”What is it?”

”Don’t worry, family and friends are all fine.” Ye Xuan, sensing her anxiety, quickly reassured her. ”Here’s the thing, today the Yu Family came to the Ye Family again to propose marriage, but of course, Grandpa firmly rejected them.”

”No wonder Yu Na was so happy today. So that’s what happened. You know, Coach Hang came to talk to me tonight, asking me to give way to Yu Na. What do you think, should I step back a bit?” Luo Ye’s tone was challenging at the end.

Ye Xuan laughed lightly: ”I won’t interfere.”

Luo Ye changed her tone: ”No joking now, I want to know what conditions the Yu Family brought. Mr. Yu isn’t foolish, knowing that you and I have already met each other’s parents, he certainly didn’t come to propose without any preparation.”

”Whatever conditions they brought, the Ye Family isn’t wishy-washy. Don’t worry about it, Ye’er. I just don’t want you to feel I’m keeping things from you.” Ye Xuan softly coaxed: ”Listen to me, leave this matter alone, Grandpa and I will handle it.

By the way, I have good news for you. After we left, Great Grandpa has been mentioning every meal, wishing his granddaughter-in-law was here, which shows that your place in Grandpa’s heart is now even more secure than mine as his grandson.”

”That’s right, I’m adorable!” Luo Ye’s voice lightened up, and since Ye Xuan didn’t want to talk more about it, she didn’t ask further. After all, she could guess it was probably some good cooperation projects, spewing some negative comments about her, and elevating Yu Na’s status and nothing too tricky.

The two chatted affectionately on the phone, and seeing someone coming from afar, Luo Ye said goodbye and hung up.

”Luoluo, can you really understand all this?” Seeing Luo Ye come back, Li Xiaobei held up the computer data she was just reading, looking up to her in admiration.

”Part of it. I’m learning as I go.” Luo Ye smiled and sat down: ”Why didn’t you join the choir, Little Bei?”

Li Xiaobei blushed and smiled sheepishly: ”I’m tone-deaf, always lead others off the tune, so Coach Hang asked me to step out. I’m the only girl who was excluded, so embarrassing.”

”No embarrassment there, haven’t you got me for company?” joked Luo Ye.

Li Xiaobei waved her hands: ”Your singing is so good, not the same as me.”

”By the way, I heard your Grandpa is here, is he still around?” Luo Ye asked politely.

”Yes, he’s still at the guesthouse.” Little Bei’s head drooped down: ”Luoluo, are the others... laughing at me?”

”No, why should they laugh at you?” Luo Ye hugged her: ”If you’re talking about the arranged marriage, there’s even less reason for anyone to laugh at you. If anyone dares to mock Little Bei, I’ll confront them!”

”Are you really not mocking me?” Li Xiaobei looked at Luo Ye, half-doubting.

”I swear!” Luo Ye raised her hand, unable to hold back a laugh: ”I was also betrothed before starting school, so if anything, you can laugh at me.”

”It’s not the same for me and you.”

”Little Bei, why say that again?” Luo Ye laughed while shaking her: ”Our backgrounds from childhood are different, some experiences dictate that we’ll differ in some aspects, but these differences can gradually merge over time. By the way, what do you think about that boy?”

Li Xiaobei’s face turned red: ”Luoluo, actually, I don’t dislike him. In middle school, we were desk mates, and he has a good temperament.

After my bike was stolen and we couldn’t afford to replace it, he would give me a ride to school. Although he doesn’t like studying and says he can’t grasp it, I got in GF University, and he also came to Sha City, now he’s already a sales manager at a labor protection company.”

”That’s really not bad.” Luo Ye let go of Li Xiaobei, her expression serious: ”Little Bei, if you like him, don’t worry too much about what others think.

With your current standing, many might think that you being with him is beneath you. Don’t let outsiders influence you. As long as you think he suits you, then he is the best match.” (To be continued.
