Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 505: Chapter 304: Pleasing the Mother-in-Law (Part 2)

Hua Rong waved her hands continuously: ”Really, it’s not necessary. My parents are waiting at home. If I don’t go back, they won’t eat much.”

She said so, and Wen Xin did not insist further, smiling as she saw her off, then turned to Ye Xuan: ”Ye, you go eat first. I’m not hungry.”

”Auntie, you’ve been up all night, how can you not be hungry? When I came back, I noticed that the vegetarian steamed buns and sweet porridge in the cafeteria were quite good.”

”Mom, please go, otherwise I won’t be at ease.” Luo Ye looked at Ye Xuan: ”You go with Mom, I’m fine by myself.”

”Let Mom go first. When the nurse comes to hang the IV, I’ll be more at ease.” Ye Xuan said casually, not sure if it was deliberate or accidental.

Wen Xin glanced at him, then back at Luo Ye, seeing her daughter sneaking anxious peeks at her, couldn’t help but laugh: ”Alright, I’ll go first.”

The room was left with just the couple, Luo Ye closed her eyes pretending to sleep, and Ye Xuan chuckled: ”Don’t worry, I’ll still love you even with a scar, Mom’s worries won’t come true.”

”You heard everything, how annoying.” Luo Ye muttered: ”I’m not worried about you not liking me, you really have thick skin.”

”Hehe...” Ye Xuan bent down and kissed her forehead: ”Should we raise the bed a bit?”

Luo Ye also felt uncomfortable lying down, nodded in agreement: ”Alright.”

After raising the bed head, Ye Xuan sat beside her, massaging her shoulders while whispering in her ear, making Luo Ye burst into laughter, the sweetheart couple’s affectionate display embarrassed the nurse who wheeled in the cart, she coughed loudly: ”Bed 12, time for your IV.”

Ye Xuan glanced unhappily at the nurse, helping Luo Ye to sit upright.

The nurse finished her tasks and as she was leaving, she glared fiercely at Ye Xuan when he wasn’t looking, then hurried out.

Luo Ye playfully nudged Ye Xuan: ”You’ve offended her, haha, even Handsome Ye can be disliked by girls.”

Seeing her smiling happily, Ye Xuan didn’t retort and simply sat on the bed, letting her lean on him as he gently rubbed her back.

...

Luo Ye’s days of recuperation were quite leisurely and pleasant. Although she couldn’t eat, having both Mom and Ye Xuan there made her very happy, it’s just that neither of them took any breaks, which made her feel quite helpless.

Handsome Ye, since inadvertently calling out ’Mom’, hasn’t changed it since. Although Wen Xin did not raise any objections, her responses were somewhat vague.

Luo Ye, seeing both playing dumb, simply let it be, since she wasn’t intending to swing two ways anyway, she just wanted mom to not oppose, love whatever.

The next morning, Hang Menglin came to visit, seeing her well taken care of, chatted with Wen Xin for a while before leaving, albeit looking somewhat puzzled, Luo Ye pondered for a long time but couldn’t figure out what she was puzzled about.

In the afternoon, Jiang Zheng came by for a quick chat, urging Ye Xuan to take good care of her before hurrying back to the forces, presumably work had piled up in Ye Xuan’s absence.

Luo Ye felt sorry and urged Ye Xuan to go back.

”It’s okay, once you recover, I’ll help Captain Jiang share more of the burden.” Ye Xuan reassured her, always referring to Jiang Zheng as Captain Jiang.

Wen Xin thought for a moment: ”Ye, Ye’er doesn’t need IVs tonight and there’s no need for two people to hang around here anymore. Tomorrow Ye’er can have porridge. How about this, could you take care of Ye’er’s meals?”

”Sure, I’ll listen to Mom.” Ye Xuan pondered briefly and agreed. Although he’d hoped to take care of Luo Ye day and night for these seven days, clearly, Hang Menglin hadn’t planned to let him have his way from the start. Persisting might provoke Wen Xin’s displeasure, something he did not want, considering the good impression he had only just established.

The door to the hospital room suddenly burst open, Wen Tong rushed in, his face full of worry and dissatisfaction: ”Sis, with such an incident, why didn’t you call me?” After observing Luo Ye for a moment, his expression softened a bit.

”How did you know?” Wen Xin looked at her brother puzzled.

”Liang Huarui called me.” Wen Tong sat beside Luo Ye, his voice softened as he asked: ”Ye’er, does it still hurt?”

”It doesn’t hurt anymore, I’m quite hearty. If it weren’t for the worry that going home too soon might affect future training, I could be discharged in five days.” Luo Ye tenderly touched her little uncle’s cheek: ”Little uncle, you’ve lost a lot of weight, and gotten darker too.”

Wen Xin was well aware of her brother’s marital issues, gently tapped Wen Tong’s shoulder without saying much, instead, it was Wen Tong who reassured with a smile: ”Don’t all look at me like that, it’s all in the past.”

Luo Ye suddenly realized where Hang Menglin’s confusion came from, worriedly looking at Wen Tong: ”Little uncle, you and Liang Huarui...”

Wen Tong smiled lightly: ”Don’t worry, it’s all over, I’m not so indecisive. By the way, Ye’er, can you eat tomorrow?”

”Little uncle, don’t worry, I’ve got Ye’er’s meals covered.” Ye Xuan quickly said, not wanting to entrust this to anyone else.

”You?” Wen Tong looked at Ye Xuan skeptically: ”Ye’er is a patient, this is not something to take lightly.”

Rather than convincing through endless words, a single acknowledgement from the concerned person would do, Ye Xuan looked at Luo Ye.

”Little uncle, let him do it, his cooking skills are quite good.”

”Alright, I’ll come check tomorrow.” Wen Tong looked at Wen Xin: ”Sis, Ye’er is alright now, we should tell mom and dad.”

”Okay, I didn’t mention it the day before yesterday because I didn’t want them, at their age, to come over and lose sleep. How about this, I’ll go home with you for a bit and bring back some clean clothes.”

”Mom, you should get some sleep when you get home, leave this to me.” Ye Xuan quickly said.

Wen Tong glanced curiously at him, then at his sister, coughed lightly: ”Let me sit a bit longer then I’ll leave.” (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, welcome to Qidian () to cast your recommendation ticket and monthly ticket, your support is my greatest motivation.)
