Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 238: Chapter 144: Forgiveness / Return (Part 2)

This also reflects that in all these years the old man, though he never says it out loud, has been truly concerned about his daughter.

Grandma said with laughter while wiping her tears, ”Xiao Xin, listen to your dad. It’s rare for this old man to speak such kind words. It’s not easy for him.”

Wen Xin stood up and embraced Grandma, ”With mom and dad treating me this way, even if I die now, it would have been worth it. But I must stay, dad, please!”

Luo Zhenggang, holding the phone, hurried in, and seeing his father-in-law frown, he quickly said, ”Dad, if Wen Xin wants to stay, let her stay. She’s had a hard time in her heart all these years. Give her a chance to make amends.

I wouldn’t push things through on morale grounds to stay, I know how to behave at this age and position. I don’t mind bearing the label of Wen Family, but I will never give those coveting the Wen Family an opportunity.

I’ve already booked three tickets for the 3 pm flight back this afternoon. I’ll pack up shortly and take Ye’er and Feng’er with me. If they didn’t have to go to school, I wouldn’t take them.”

Luo Ye slightly curled her lips as dad spoke; in a rush, people indeed don’t think straight. She and her brother are not objects to be ”taken away”.

Seeing that the old man was still pondering, Luo Feng pulled his sister closer and said, ”Grandpa, my sister and I will leave with dad. Please let mom stay.”

...

Luo Ye paced anxiously in the room, while Dou Dou tilted its head curiously at its young mistress. Song Qiu followed behind, rolling around like a fluffy ball, occasionally reaching out its paw trying to cling to its young mistress’s ankle, humming and chirping as if it was having a great time.

At five-thirty in the afternoon, the three of them returned to Island City. When they arrived home, Seventh Uncle Ye was chatting with Grandpa. Dad explained that mom didn’t come back because she hadn’t been home for many years and wanted to stay a few more days.

She understood that dad said this to prevent Grandpa from worrying, but she could clearly see a smile forming at the corner of Seventh Uncle Ye’s lips.

This was precisely the reason for her anxiety. What role had the Ye Family played in this incident? After all, the Ye Family had helped her so much, but what if they were on the opposite side of Grandpa, what to do?

Her concern naturally stemmed from mom’s previous broken engagement. With these major family affairs, you can’t just side with or against someone based on personal feelings.

Before leaving, she secretly told Grandpa about her conversation with Yu Miao. Grandpa, being such a sharp person, naturally understood her meaning and, smiling, patted her head and said just two words: ”Don’t worry.”

Sigh, the old man really is concise with his words; it seems that the comforting words he had for mom were quite lengthy. If someone were slow-witted, wouldn’t this frustrate them to death?

Also, who is the Wen Family’s mole? Could it harm mom? One wouldn’t feel it unless it fell upon themselves, but if it involves one’s closest people, it’s impossible to stay calm, Ye is no exception.

She picks up the phone, then puts it down, picks it up again, and puts it down. Dou Dou’s head tilts even more, as if it wonders whether the dark little cube might be hot to the touch.

Finally making up her mind, she stopped pacing and dialed Ye Xuan’s number. A magnetic voice came through, ”Ye’er, are you back?”

”Yes, Brother Ye, I came back at five-thirty in the afternoon. What is Brother Ye busy with?” Luo Ye pondered, her voice sounding somewhat airy.

”I’m dealing with some documents of the ’Liu’ case. Ye’er, are you feeling unwell? Your voice doesn’t sound right.”

”It might be because the climate in Sha City is rather dry, it’s not that suitable for me, that’s all. There’s nothing, really, I just called to let you know I’m back, goodbye.” Without waiting for a reply, Luo Ye quickly hung up, annoyed with herself. She burrowed her head onto the bed, ”I’m so hopelessly pathetic! Why not just ask directly? But even if I did, would he tell the truth? I didn’t even dare to ask my master, ah! Yah! Yah! Yah...”

”What’s wrong, Ye’er?” Luo Feng opened the door and saw his sister with her head down, burrowing into the bed, genuinely wailing.

”Nothing, just missing mom!” Luo Ye murmured without lifting her head.

”Stop lying, you’re worried about Grandpa’s family matters, aren’t you? I knew you were the worrying type. I came to check on you, and by the way, to tell you, master just left and asked me to tell you not to worry unnecessarily; we won’t be put in a difficult position.”

Luo Ye sat up ”suddenly”: ”Master really said that? Brother, did my expression look off when I said I was going back to my room to rest?”

Luo Feng rubbed his sister’s head, ”I didn’t see anything wrong. Master probably got the news earlier. Ye’er, we can’t resolve these issues from afar; focusing on the present is the best we can do for Grandpa’s family. In the future, when we make something of ourselves, we can help and protect our family more, right?”
