Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 216: Chapter 136: Chance Encounter / Embarrassment

Luo Ye returned to Mary Hospital after nine o’clock in the evening. Caretaker Sister Liu was persuading Sang Qingqing to rest early. Seeing Luo Ye come in, Sang Qingqing’s lips curled into a happy smile: ”Ye’er, didn’t I tell you not to come over? Sister Liu keeping me company is enough.”

Luo Ye smirked teasingly, ”Lying is not what good children do, Qingqing, are you not sleeping because you’re waiting for me?”

”Can’t you just let it slide?” Sang Qingqing’s cheeks flushed a deep red.

Luo Ye sincerely complimented: ”Qingqing, you are so beautiful!” These past few days, Sang Qingqing’s complexion had regained its rosiness. Her naturally pretty but frail face, draped in an oversized hospital gown, exuded a pitiable charm that made one want to cherish her from the bottom of their heart.

Sang Qingqing shuddered: ”Ye’er, can you please not say such cheesy things.”

Luo Ye nodded: ”Qingqing, you’re really ugly!”

Sang Qingqing: ”...”

Sister Liu was grinning so wide her smile almost reached her ears; having been a caretaker for over five years, looking after Sang Qingqing had been the most relaxed and joyful experience.

”Ye’er, can I come in now?” Luo Feng’s helpless voice came from the door.

Luo Ye slapped her forehead hastily and stuck out her tongue: ”Come on in, come on in.”

”Hello Qingqing,” Luo Feng greeted and then suspiciously eyed his precious little sister: ”Tell me, did you forget about me?”

”No, I was just about to let you in when you called out,” Luo Ye sweetly looped her arm through her brother’s: ”It’s getting late; you better hurry back, brother. I’ll see you out.”

Luo Feng waved to Sang Qingqing: ”Qingqing, I’m leaving then, I just came to drop off Ye’er and to say hi to you.”

Sang Qingqing glanced at the wall clock: ”Indeed, it’s late. I won’t keep you then, goodbye Luo Feng.”

After the siblings left, Sister Liu couldn’t help but say: ”Miss Luo has such a nice personality, and her brother too. Having such children is truly a blessing for any parent!”

”Yes, their personalities are really good,” Sang Qingqing sighed lightly: ”I’ve met countless children of high officials; their siblings indeed are an exception.”

”Children of high officials?” Immediately after saying it, Sister Liu covered her mouth embarrassedly: ”Miss Sang, I’m just a bit surprised. Don’t worry, I won’t spread it around.”

Realizing she spoke out of turn, Sang Qingqing laughed awkwardly: ”It’s fine. We say what we say and let bygones be bygones.”

”Right, right, right...”

...

Luo Ye tugged at Luo Feng, who was quickly striding ahead: ”Brother, no need to rush off like the wind. Liu Ying had the early shift today and has already left.”

Luo Feng sighed with relief: ”Why didn’t you say so earlier, you naughty girl? I was so anxious waiting outside just now.”

”Hehe... brother, to be scared by a little nurse like that, you’ve really made something of yourself, huh? If she were there, do you think I would have had you waiting outside?”

”You clearly just forgot about me; what does it have to do with her?” Luo Feng flicked his sister’s forehead: ”I feel like you’re more concerned about Qian Mei than about your brother.”

”Jealous?” Luo Ye said as she pinched Luo Feng: ”How many times have I told you, there’s only Sang Qingqing now, and yet you make the same mistake again.”

”Spare me, spare me, okay? I admit my mistake!” Luo Feng looked exasperated. He really felt that his little sister was being overly kind to that woman, which was very unlike her character.

Luo Ye tightened her grip on her brother’s arm: ”Brother, she’s just too pitiable. This is her most vulnerable time. The only thing keeping her going is the affection I’m giving her. She’s willing to accept it because what she misses the most is the affection she experienced as a child.

She’s afraid she might never feel it again if she dies, which is why she chooses to live on. If I give her even a hint of aloofness, she might just give up on life.

The path she’s gone down was one we almost took, the hardships she’s faced were ones we almost had to endure. After going through so much and still being able to accept this affection from me is extraordinary.

When I entered today, the anticipation in her eyes truly pained me. Brother, from now on, let’s treat her as our real sister, being a little nicer to her is also redemption for ourselves.”

”Alright, I’ll listen to Ye’er.” Luo Feng didn’t feel as deeply on the matter as Luo Ye did, but he agreed with what his sister said. Sang Qingqing truly was very pitiable and having another sister wasn’t a bad idea.

As they reached the hospital door, Luo Feng patted his sister’s head: ”Alright, go back now. You didn’t need to send me off; I just wanted to chat with Ye’er for a bit longer. I’ve been busy lately, and Ye’er’s been busy too. It feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve talked.”

”It’s a lot better now, brother...” Luo Ye suddenly became serious: ”I won’t interfere with who brother likes, but if you find someone you like, you must tell me. As for Nuonuo, I don’t want her to get hurt.”
